Russia didn't take the bait near Kursk because the main objective is on the Eastern front. Ukraine wanted Russia to divert troops before the rasputitsa set but it doesn't work that good when the country has tons of paved roads and not just dirt and mud everywhere. Basically Ukraine just opened a new front that needs constant supplies and the presence of elite troops while the Eastern 41st and 43rd Brigade are resupplied with new recruits with very limited combat experience and effectiveness, that's the reason Russian troops are able to push through much quicker.

@@charlesolinger9735The United States government is currently financially propping up the Ukrainian regime. It is paying all the wages of the soldiers and government workers, as well as their pensions. Ukraine is unable to financially support itself. It recently defaulted on multiple payments on a massive loan it took. The Ukrainian government is financially dependent on the U.S. and therefore it has to bend to the will of the United States. What other choice does the Zelensky regime have? If they oppose the U.S., the U.S. will pull out completely. And then what?
Ukrainian men are being dragged from their homes and sent to the meat grinder in a war they cannot win in the name of U.S. geopolitical interests and hegemony. Zelensky had 3 opportunities for peace. He kicked all 3 of them to the curb because he likes money, and he chose to make the males in his country fight on behalf of the U.S. What does Zelensky get in return? Judging by his real estate portfolio in Europe and America, at least 200 million USD. How would a comedian make that much money? 🤔

Potentially the same thing is happening right now, except this time the entire (from what we know) strategic reserve has been committed in Kursk. I find it hard to imagine that Syrsky didn't know this was a possibility, most likely he was told by Zelensky to make a statement by invading Russia - it's looking like it was a complete waste of desperately needed manpower and equipment.

The 151st Brigade was desperately short of frontline infantry like much of the Ukrainian army. The choice was to either use the remaining manpower the brigade had or to watch the frontline defensive positions of the brigade totally collapse.
The problem for Ukraine is that frontline infantry is the least popular role for any soldier in the war. The frontline infantry tends to consist of those Ukrainians too poor to pay their way into a different role in the military. The effect of this is that the proportion of frontline infantry in the Ukrainian Army compared to the size of the whole Ukrainian army is very small and getting smaller.
Its not that using drone operators is a great choice, but it becomes a choice of either putting the drone operators in the line or seeing the line collapse. Its a desperation move and points to the high command not being able to offer replacements for losses.

I think the 47th Brigade was split, the Abrams battalion and a Bradley mechanized infantry battalion were probably sent to Kursk but I think they left one Bradley battalion around Pokrovsk to act as a Quick Reaction Force to blunt any breakthroughs since the 151st and 31st aren't capable of that and the Jaeger brigade is light infantry lacking in heavy firepower and suited more for elastic defense.

It seems like he meant some individuals in particular as opposed to an entire military because he said something like "those who are responsible" will be held accountable. If he meant the Ukrainians why didn't he just say "the Ukrainians"? I think he probably would have but I am not sure. He seems to be treating it more like a terrorist attack rather than an outright occupation of the land by foreign military. This seems a little weird to me because we all know it is the Ukrainians who captured the region in Kursk. But why use this rather obtuse language? Maybe something is lost in translation? Or, is there a reason he doesn't want to call it, say an invasion, rather than a terrorist attack because that would trigger something else?
