- We’re warming up for the second major of the year here in Tampere Finland 🇫🇮 on a lazy Sunday we decided to go play a little local 9 hole course. Just for fun. Pulled put my phone and the vlog was created 😃

You can see just how happy Eagle is to just to be back and throwing again! Honestly I think Simon is just as happy to have his buddy back to travel and play discgolf with. Tour has missed the birdman for sure!

Eagle pronounced "voimmeko pelata läpi" really well (tosi hyvin). Good to see him back at the course again. Hope he's doing great 👍. Overall this was a great vlog and it brightened my mood 😄

imagine being a little kid and been following the pro tour and have you guys as an idol, and then suddently randomly see you guys play a 9 hole in europe! i would have been so stoked to see you guys in norway
Close to that happened to me a few days ago, I was just casually playing a round here in Tampere, looked back and saw ricky wysocki was playing behind me. I didn't go talk to him though, I am a bit too antisocial to do something like that 😅
as an older bearded gentleman that has been playing 42 yrs i resemble that remark :-) . so glad you guys are back!

Looked like a Doom Bird 4 to me. They also just released the European Open FD3 and it also looked like a fairway driver.

This is a very old disc golf location. One of the oldest in Finland. I have heard that the course was first established in 1994. You should have brought you boss to play because he could tell you stories about the place. This was the course where he learned to play!
The layout was completely renewned a few years ago, though. The course used to be somewhat more difficult and had some longer holes. There were some safety concerns, though, as there were a handful of blind holes. Having those in a public park with plenty of other users isn't a great idea so I get why they did it.
I haven't played there in few years, but I liked the old layout a lot. I did win my only Finnish title there as 1996 (?) we won the team championship to Vaasa. It was a match play event where five man teams played against each other.
Glad to see my two favorite players vlogging in my home country and speaking Finnish 💪 keep up the good work Simon and Eagle!
It's so cool to see the Pros playing on the course I spend my childhood. I remember how Meresmaa was organizing weekly tournaments and I thought that as a handicap, he was only using putters. And I just couldn't understand how he had labeled a 150m hole as a par 3!

2:32 I think a huge part of this is that many European cities are walkable and safe. Every disc golf course near me you have to drive to, and the roads certainly do not have have sidewalks, etc. for kids to get there safely. If kids are allowed to walk to the nearest course, and have it be safe to do so due to increased emphasis on walkable infrastructure, then of course it's no surprised that they're there. Kids like being outside and doing things
That take doesn't make a lot of sense. The overwhelming majority of dg courses in my area (and I'm assuming the US) are featured in public parks. The closest park with a dg course to me has hundreds of kids on it certain nights, they're just playing soccer, lacrosse, basketball, etc and not dg. It's more of a culture thing at this point.
@@lanepemberton8886 if that's your local scene's experience then that's fine, but almost none of the local parks where I'm at are easily walkable to either, regardless of if they have DG courses in them or not. It's suburbia hell where you have to drive everywhere, which is not helpful for 10-15 year old kids. Really easy to drive to though.... For the hundreds of kids at the public parks around you doing other things besides disc golf (rec soccer or little league, etc.), how many families drove there and how many walked? In my hometown, the parking areas for complexes like that are as big as the facilities themselves because nobody walks there.
@@lanepemberton8886 Judging from what I know about American urban design and infrastructure in much of the country, it's pretty easy to agree with vibeguy. In Finland (and most of Europe in general), kids can go to their local course by bicycle or take public transit on their own because the supporting infra is there, no need for your parent's driving licence. You of course need to have the sports culture as well which is evident in American kids choosing to do other activities, regardless of how they got there.

In Finland most kids have hobbies like soccer, basketball etc. but dg is considered just their free time hanging out with friends - and as parents don't have to pay for it, it's very popular. Also, every supermarket sells discs so the access is easy and the colorful discs are attractive to them (lol). But even my 8-year-old son knows the famous Finnish pro players, so they are very into it and practice seriously when they're at it :) Currently, it's maybe one of the coolest hobbies among kids in Finland.
