I’ve seen SM on every tour to Aus in last 10 years apart from the last one. Too many line up changes and people in the band who haven’t really been a part of the music. I’ve got nothing against the new members but wish the line up of the past decade was still there.

I'm only 36, but this band, and many others not even from my time... have gotten me through the many sad times. Don't know where I'd be without it. It's the one constant, in a time of disposable everything.

2023 - listening to this on headphones after a few Jack and cokes. Fuck me what a band. Mel Gaynor and the bass player drive this like a galloping thoroughbread. Charlie's guitar just adding to the perfection. Cheers to you all, you made my night

So true. I added Kraftwerk, Art of Noise, the Cure, Propaganda, The The, Yazoo and some grittier stuff like Front 242, Nitzer Ebb, Sisters of Mercy, Cassandra Complex in for good measure, but those were good times!

I don't know if I'll ever get to see this amazing band. I'm only 36, but I've loved them since I was 20. Obviously, they are before my time, but great music transcends generations. It's there for whoever looks for it. This particular song, just makes me think of turning 21, and the hope and wonder I had for the future. Listening to this on a sunny day, driving in the hilly roads where I live, made me feel invincible at the time. I miss that feeling.
Well written. Simple Minds has an epic timeless aura over them. Im pushing 40 and have been listening to them since my teens and still find a gem or two that i didn't think much of then. Much love and respect from Sweden!
They were magnificent on the 80’s when I saw them live. The women went crazy for Jim and his band. I guess that dated me but that’s ok. I heard the best music as a 20 something in the 80’s.🎉😂❤
Heard this tonight in the car for the first time in 30 years. Could be their best IMO. Forgot i even had the album in my stash. Just gave me retro whiplash from my youth. 56 now and it sounds just as great as it did when i was in my 20's. And moves me just the same as it did then. Brilliant.
There’s not many ‘stadium bands’ left and I’ve been following these guys since I was 17! I’m 57 now and these live gigs still bring a huge smile to my face, keep it up lads!! Great work.

Just saw the band live on tour in Oct. 2018. Could not believe it when Jim Kerr said they were afraid to come over the pond--that maybe no one would remember them. Are you kidding me? The sold-out shows attest to the great love & admiration that exist for Simple Minds out there!

Saw them at Newcastle and this was the opener fantastic song and performance jim rocked it
Bit of a bummer here: after 2 yrs of waiting, in Amsterdam they left NGD out of the set...could not believe it! Concert was excellent, and with nearly 3 hrs they did not take it lightly, but driving home i couldnot help feeling we missed something....
Such a magical song after all these years.

OK, so back in the day, after "Don't You (Forget About Me)", which was powerful, I purchased New Gold Dream. I played it into needle burn. Still to this day, best album/memories. Thank you boys.

what can I say? everybody here had shared my exact sentiments: the memories, the goose bumps, my favorite song, amazing band!!! yes!!! it was Mel who got me interested in learning the drums! don't worry about feeling older. the older we are, the better the music! and we have the pride and honor to say we remember when this song came out, bought the album, saw them live in '85, ect. ! these were our times--- cherish them!

How can I explain that... ? Simple Minds is clearly far ahead many other bands. They have proved through years their ability to create so many classic songs with such emotions. Even these old songs are fantastic and sounds like anthems : New Gold, Speed Your Love, Waterfront, Sanctify, Real Life, Home,Stars Will Lead. They remain incredible and so convincing, valuable, a real musical force. They can be hugely proud to their career.

I am still watching this video several times a week and in my opinion, having watched a number of renditions of this song, this performance is way out and above any other that Simple Minds have ever done of New Gold Dream. And yes, Mel Gaynor was "King of the Drums" and following Jim's comment, the guitar work was nothing short of Superb. I cannot see myself ever tiring of watching this rendition.
