Those Doctors, Nurses, Pilots & rest of the Medical personnel were the Real Heroes in any Conflict. They all deserve/deserved Praise and Special Medals of Recommendations. So many Military Personnel wouldn't have survived without them.
We're not the real heroes, but care for those that are. The reward comes from knowing that many live to have a chance at a full life. Untiring is a bit of an exaggeration. I got pretty tired at 36-48, even 60 hour duty days, with no sleep and only quick bathroom breaks. It's either that or your patient dies. You always manage to get a second wind after a bit more coffee. Needless to say, people were always dying to see us ;)
I wasn't talking about present day Emergency Medical staff, we do what we can and I know as I'm a retired Volunteer Firefighter 3 & EMT. I was talking about those Angles working under War conditions. Any War but especially WW2 because so Much was new.
My wife was working in NICU (newborn infant ICU). She donated a unit of blood, watched it being cross matched and then exchange transfused into a newborn infant with a blood disorder.
Logistics, medical staff, rear echelon troops, industrial workers, etc are the skeleton, heart and brain of any armed forces; yet they dont usually get any mention at all in films, documentaries, series etc.
Very interesting video, it goes to show how crucial blood donations are, even in peacetime. I've been a blood donor with the American Red Cross for many years, and there's always a demand for blood. Historically, as with so many other advances in technology, it took another World War to speed the development of this efficient means for the distribution of blood and components in order to save lives. Thank you! 🩸 👍
