    it's soo irritating....ima a rams fan, who lives in los Angeles....am I happy?? yesss....but let me say this, just because the rams use to live here once upon a time, doesn't make this a rams town, I've met like two rams fans in my whole life.....you know why?? because this is a raiders town, ND the nfl will find that out the first time the rams play the raiders in los Angeles.....you go to a San Diego game, there more raiders fans than charger fans, it's sad....and where do u think those guys come from?? los Angeles....I'm happy the rams are here, but I think they made a mistake not bringing in the raiders....

      +Iceburgg Slimm It's not a Raiders town either - it's a party town. It doesn't support its teams or the speedway, the TV money Cowherd mythologizes about doesn't give MLB, the NBA or the NHL or auto racing bodies the bang for its buck from LA - it's why all the teams have outdated stadiums and why the Fontana Speedway is irrelevant to racing despite Toyota supposedly sponsoring it.

    • @fortyforfree
      @fortyforfree Před 8 lety

      +Michael Daly I never thought about it, but some la stadiums are "old looking"
      Is that why the Clippers and Lakers share a stadium. Aren't the Kings in that place too?

    • @STP43FAN1
      @STP43FAN1 Před 8 lety

      +Iceburgg Slimm
      ON the Clippers, Lakers, and Kings - It might be part of it. The two baseball teams have been in stadiums that I don't recall have been upgraded, and the Rams are supposed to play in the grossly outdated Coliseum while that Inglewood stadium is being built - and we;'re assuming it will get the local support to see it through, something Boston (by any measure a far stronger sports town than LA) did not get for the Olympics - NFL stadiums that have been built recently are all in proven football markets, of which LA is not.

    • @STP43FAN1
      @STP43FAN1 Před 8 lety

      +Iceburgg Slimm If the Raiders went to San Diego it would prove the entire effort for a team in LA to be foolish - why move the Chargers and then put the Raiders in? And why move ANY team at all?

    LA is huge but in terms of sprawl it has nothing on Houston and other cities like it in the south, even smaller cities like Nashville.
    When I was in college my roommate from LA stayed with me at my parents house in suburban Nashville and he was amazed by how sprawling even that metro area was. Atlanta is famous for its sprawl but for a southern city it actually has a decent public transit system in MARTA. I've lived in NYC and it doesn't compare to the MTA but no other American city is like New York.

    The problem is that LA already has a team, and I’m not talking college. LA is a Raiders town. It doesn’t matter that they’re in Oakland and headed for Vegas: we’re still a Raiders town. The town already has a team, regardless of whether or not they’re playing here.
    Moving Rams here: yeah, okay, that’s fine. We’re still going to root for the Raiders first, but we’ll tolerate them. But bringing the Chargers here is a disastrous move. They are the division rival for the Raiders. If they think LA is going to turn up and cheer for the Raiders’ division rival they’re very mistaken. Charger crowds will be away crowds. The stadium will be packed with fans for the visiting team. And God help them when the Raiders or Broncos come to town, because there are more Raiders and Broncos fans in LA than Chargers. The only thing that’s going to change that is the Chargers winning a Super Bowl.
    And I’m sorry, but it does matter that the stadium is empty. Perception does matter. NFL is producing a product that the locals are saying, “We don’t want you.” That matters. A team can not survive in an environment where they’re unwanted.

    • @GMartinez23
      @GMartinez23 Před 8 lety +1

      We still go to laker games and we're shit right now. And it's not just because it's Kobe's last season. We were still going before. And when McCourt was owner of the Dodgers we would still go to games even though the fans were boycotting him. And I don't think there will be a problem with attendance. Since the NFL has been gone for a while there are fans of every team in la. So they will also be selling a lot of tickets to opposing fans.

    • @mikeravet1645
      @mikeravet1645 Před 8 lety

      Y didnt the rams last there the firat time them..I understand what your saying and it has nothing to do with being fair weather fans or not its just common sense hard to sell tickets for a bad team yes u will sell some but not even close to as many as if they were good

      +Mike Ravet the first time around, the Rams were here in LA for 48 years. I'm probably wrong, but they left for the same reason, the city of LA didn't want to build a new stadium. The coliseum is old. It can seat about 100,000 people. So yeah, the stands might look empty even though there are 60,000 people in attendance.

    In the last 20 seasons the Rams played in the L.A. Coliseum 1959-1979 the Rams were in the top 10 of NFL attendance every year except 3,and for 12 of those 20 seasons they were top 5. So much for the LA cannot support an NFL franchise myth. Those smaller crowds people love to talk about happened 34 miles to the south in Anaheim 1991-1994 which is practically a different market altogether and with Georgia Frontiera having one foot out the door to St Louis . The Rams just have to work hard at building back a young fan base to add to their older fans that attended back in the day.

    There's also a saying on "Oh, Montreal can't thrive in baseball, so why have that team now?" It's because of that #stade dat looked more like an eyesore, plus the strike killed them. Now there's more momentum for Montreal to regain a franchise, and they will have that baseball team once again; the same can be said in L.A. [unfortunately].

    Didn't you do a segment months ago where you chastised this move arguing people would rather go hiking than attend NFL games? You are mocking yourself here, you said all of these things!

    Cowherd gets it wrong immediately with his James Bond analogy - the two Bond films between Moore and Brosnan did well and have stood up well; this is why the series kept going. His movies analogy merely illustrates that Los Angeles is NOT a sports market - it is a party town, a transient demographic that does not support any of its six pro franchises or its speedway. The NFL doesn't make money out of LA, it makes money around the country, the other sports bodies DO NOT GET the bang for their television bucks from Los Angeles that Cowherd pretends the NFL will somehow get. The TV argument fails because it didn't save the Rams or Raiders in LA - they left because they could no longer avoid, having done just that for twenty-plus years, that the demographic simply would not support any team there. That he keeps citing how much the game grew since LA lost its teams contradicts his entire premise.
    Too Big To Fail doesn't exist.

      phillyslasher From history, that's where. LA lost both its NFL teams, two speedways, and potentially the Irwindale track because fanbases for these venues and its other pro sports teams are mediocre or worse. Don't lecture me about what LA is because we've all seen what it is - and what it isn't.
      It's a party town, not a sports town.

    That might be the laziest, most uninformed analogy I have ever heard in sports media.

    His analogies are old. Just say what you have to say. He takes a topic and just drags it on to try to prove a point.

      the one and only reason the rams and raiders left in the mid 90's was because of inadequate stadiums! what part of that don't u understand?!

    I have no problem with LA getting a Team back. I think that LA needed a team ,and never not needed a team. But Dumbass Goodell Wants a Team in Fucking London. I have also have a problem with the NFL MATH . California will now have 3 football Teams again. New York has 3 fucking Football Teams. Florida has 3 fucking Football Teams. My state of TEXAS where FOOTBALL is KING , only has 2 Fucking Teams and Both cant make the big Fucking Game. My Cowboys are in the shitter. Houston doesn't have a QB . so im thinking That the NFL should consider putting a Third Team in TEXAS . Maybe In San Antonio . It may b the only way that a Lombardi trophy could come back to Texas. DALLAS AND HOUSTON cant get it done. sorry to get off topic . Great Video Colin

      The Dallas Cowboys won't win anything as long as Jerry Jones and no Jimmy Johnson the San Antonio deserves an NFL team it's mostly Latino so the Raiders are a good choice and they have matching uniforms like the Spurs I hope the San Antonio gets a team.

      +asturiasra I hate to agree with you. bUT I've all but given up for my Cowboys to ever get back to the Superbowl. It's almost a Football Version of the Boston Red sox Curse. It's almost like the Cowboys are getting punished for the success of the 90s. But Jerry Jones has turned our Heroes into ZERO's . That's the reason why Houston is my favorite AFC team and wht that I suggested San Antonio for a 3rd team. Im not even sure that Houston can when the Big One. they don't even have a QB , they gonna have to draft and /or go through Free agency. sorry for the long rant, You brought up good points.
