    Congratulations Slovakia for a great tournament! I had no reason to support them going into the tournament, but their spirit and determination won me over. It was wonderful to see them topple Russia and Sweden and I wish that they had beaten Finland for Bronze; that was a heartbreaking loss. While I was ecstatic to see my home Canada win and even though I have Czech family (Slovakia's arch rival), I take my hat off to this great Slovakian team! Greetings from Canada!

      Second goal should start 5 seconds earlier at 55:45 because then you get a better understanding of how ridiculously out of play Niklas Kronwall is putting himself in the offensive zone just so he can deliver one of his ridiculous showboating "Kronwalled" hits on Palffy. On the slow motion replay you can even see Kronwall looking at Palffy sitting on the ice while admiring his own retarded hit which created a 2 on 1 counter attack and a 2nd goal for the Slovaks. Palffy himself was obviously more concerned with delivering Zednik the puck. When Sekera scored Kronwall was still half-assing it back in the neutral zone, behind two of his own forwards.....

    Sweden has lost to Finland in meaningful games 3 times in the past 20 years with the NHL players. Those were from Canada Cup in 1991, 1998 olympics in Nagano (quarter finals) and the latest came from 2004 World Cup of Hockey (technically the match between Sweden and Finland was a tie game, but a tie game was enough for Finland to win it and proceed to the finals.

  • @ardemua
    @ardemua Před 12 lety +1

    I don't know why people thought Sweden was truly gonna rule in Vancouver. They won olympic gold in 2006 by avoiding Canada in the playoffs by tanking a game against Slovakia after they got beaten by Russia (5-0). Had they been using the old system like back in the 80s, Finland would have won olympic gold in 2006 because they had most victories (including against Canada and Russia) and least losses throughout the tournament out of all participating teams.

  • @ardemua
    @ardemua Před 12 lety +1

    I don't know, Finland really seems to be impressive in the olympics against Canada and Russia. I mean, 2006 semifinals between Finland and Russia was for me the most entertaining to watch from Torino. I gotta give Swedes credit for the Lillehammer gold, though. And also to the 2012 world junior gold for beating Russians twice as well.

  • @ardemua
    @ardemua Před 12 lety +1

    @hockeyspelarnHIF
    ...You're completely ignoring the fact Sweden did not make it to the medals in Vancouver. And Finland has many times won Sweden with the all NHL players. In 1991 Canada Cup, Nagano 1998, 2004 World Cup of Hockey. In Salt Lake City 2002 Sweden lost to Belarus and Finland succumbed to Canada by 2-1. Another interesting fact is Sweden has terrible record beating Canadians and Russians,meanwhile Finland has impressive record beating the Russians and good against Canadians as well

First learn something about that, pls. During the World Cup all the leagues are always stopped ('cause it usually takes place in the summer). During the WCH NHL is not stopped, 'cause this is a tournament of little importance (sometimes being called "the Skoda Cup" - the tournament is designed for the Czechs).

    Glad to see Sweden lose. In Turin 2006 Winter Olympics, the Swedish coach Bengt-Ake Gustafsson lost the Slovak game on purpose so to gain advantage later on. Dirty way of playing in Winter Olympics!

    • @whoknows2314
      @whoknows2314 Před 6 lety +3

      Didn't really lose on purpose, they just didn't try as hard because the game didn't mean anything. It's just a poorly organized tournament when there's meaningless games.. Not Sweden's fault. And even if it was on purpose it's not that dirty.. If they have the opportunity to choose to meet a team that they think fits them better then fine, both teams apperently were still deserved to be in the playoffs, and if you go to a final and win you are the best team. Finland beat Russia with 4-0 in semis and Sweden slaughtered Czech Republic with 7-3. CZE beat RUS with 3-0 in bronze game, Sweden beat Finland with 3-2 in final so how isn't it well deserved? The best team won without a doubt.

    I lost respect for team Canada when you started losing games on purpose just to end up in the easiest pool B in Sochi 2014. Maybe I lost respect for Canada when you intentionally broke Kharlamov's ankle in the summit series 1972 when you were down 3-1 in games. Maybe I lost respect when Canada started taking cheap shots at important players in other teams, or when Canada always enters 10 min too late for the warm up and hence disturbing the other team's warm up?

      Looks like you are extremely jealous of Canadian hockey achievements judging by your countless anti Canadian post , The B pool at the 2014 Olympics consisted of Finland,Canada ,Norway and Austria. The A pool had Russia, Slovakia, USA and Slovenia. The C pool had Czech Republic ,Sweden,Switzerland and Latvia. Each poll had 2 hockey powerhouses. That's how the IIHF sets up the tournaments. It makes no sense for some other Canadian team with totally different players to lose a game in a previous tournament . Canada beat the strongest team from the other 2 pools including beating Sweden in the final.
