I bought a 24 set of Holbein artists' gouache for 98 bucks on Amazon.. not really cheap, but they were 15 ml tubes. And I also got the 'primaries' mixing set of 5 15ml tubes for 21 dollars. Fair investment, but totally worth it! I love them, and I love gouache. Started out with watercolor, but now I'm hooked. I also bought a mixing set of M. Grahams artists' gouache, which are creamier because of the added honey, and love them as well!!. The Holbeins are warm blue, cool yellow and red, and the M.Grahams are cool blue, warm yellow and red.. so, a really good combined set. Plus all the blacks from all the sets are different, but the whites are all titanium, so I bought a large tube of zinc white for mixing without the cloudiness that titanium gives you... Alright.. TMI, I suppose, but I was so inspired by your loving gouache too! Love your work. Love all of you guys' work! Thanks for putting it out there for us!

Howdy! I don’t know if you remember, but you responded to my comment about how I was getting a lot of hate for my art about half a year ago. You really touched me with your response, and I made a decision to go on a bit of an art quest to find myself in my work again. Although I’m not quite yet back to the connection I had with my art before the hate, I have DEFINITELY improved. I’m now more comfortable showing my art to others and going against the flow where I was terrified before. This is all thanks to your SUPER inspirational response and I plan to continue on the path I’m on. I can never thank you enough.

I think that a good theme would be collage, like drawing childhood memories all together
Edit well not nessecarily childhood memories but just memories in general
try putting a copy of your sketch next to you while you copy it with the light box! then you can light box the general features while you reference the small details from the copy. also, i think the holbein gouache is still $50ish on amazon?
My transfer is never completely accurate to the original sketch and I've just learned to accept it and don't even try to make the sketch very detailed. I don't use a light box, though. I mostly use graphite transfer paper. And as someone said in the comments, the thumbnail and title definitely made me think of Christina Aguilera. :D

I have problems transferring to the watercolor paper. I think it has to be the way it's made because it happens even if I use line art that is inked
So there are two different versions of the holbein sets now! the old version in the white boxes are going for crazy amounts, but the ones in the black boxes are normal prices! I know because i just bought a set of 12 off amazon and the black box is like around $30 but the white box was like $70. For some reason the holbein website still only shows the white boxes but i checked on blick and they are also selling the black boxes so it seems to be legit

LOL I think whoever is trying to sell it is absolutely insane. But yeah I wanted to get 15 ml tubes with. Large color selection this time. Cheapest place I could find was Amazon for 100 or so dollars. But other websites had the same set for ridiculously more.
that's crazy! but yeah i bought the black set off of amazon. I got the 12 set cuz the 5 set was like $25 so i figured it's a better deal for the 12. I kind of wish I had just invested in bigger tubes as well, the tiny tubes of gouache doesn't go as far as watercolor does. But the bigger winsor and newton tubes are $10 each RIP
They don't have the set of 30 but the 12 set is $40 at Dick Blick, and I love buying from them. Also depending on how much you need, it might be better to buy the tubes individually, which you can also do with them! www.dickblick.com/products/holbein-artists-gouache-sets/

JustADashOfVanilla please don’t throw away your old/ugly sketches! I used to do that and now i regret it. They are nice because you can see your progress and if you can’t think of something to draw you can look for ideas there.
