    Our Mainship 390 Adagio has been great as a single engine with bow and stern thrusters. I even added a wireless remote so can operate thrusters from anywhere on the boat....really helps with line handling.

    Nice tour. I was just thinking it be nice if you did more boat tours showing the advantages and disadvantages of each boat.

    Main ship is nice but the most popular boat on the loop is a carver..it has completed more loops than any other manufacturer

      I guess it depends on what year. Based on recent data from the Great Loop Cruisers Association, the most popular boats on the Great Loop are:
      Mainship (20 boats completed the Loop in 2022)
      Sea Ray (15 boats)
      Ranger Tug (13 boats)
      Grand Banks (11 boats)
      Carver (10 boats)
      Kadey-Krogen (9 boats)
      DeFever (7 boats)

    Side doors are good but at least you need a sliding window so you can communicate with the foredeck while anchoring and tying up.

    Nice looking boat and really very functional for loop. I’m a full time liveaboard and I just don’t think i want a Vberth. Currently the wife and I are in a Vberth and boy we miss out Aft cabin

    Searching high and low for a Mainship. No luck yet at these prices but it’s getting better. The 430 is actually my first choice but I would definitely sport a 400, - love them! I must have twins though, just a thing for me… the bigger 6 cylinder Yenmar is again my preference.
    This is a beautiful boat! As soon as I find a good example with twins being sold by a guy willing to sell it for the same price he paid, plus upgrades, I’m all over it!

      Why do some have a single and some have twins?

    • @pduderocker
      @pduderocker Před 3 měsíci

      @@ballsandstrikesonthei.c.w.7959 single engine models are less expensive to purchase, operate and maintain. So if you’re okay with having just one and it has thrusters you can theoretically have just as much fun for less money.
      The downside is that you have to work that single engine harder and you have no spare. Twins make it easier to maneuver and create a little peace of mind. And, if you just like boats and power plants having two is twice the fun.

      A single is better than. # 1 Easier to work on engine !! Especially if you are doing it yourself. And if you are hiring it done you will pay less labor because of the ease of access. The twin engine version models are a nightmare to do any work on them.

    • @pduderocker
      @pduderocker Před 3 měsíci

      @@jerrybartow8693 absolutely! As long as you’re okay with having a single power source. Twins are just so much cooler, if it’s all about money though and you have to live on your boat - a single engine is sure going to save you some bucks. Plus, it only really matters if you’re underway. At anchor or tied up, a second engine is just twice the weight. :)

    I am planing to do the loop single handed in the next year or so. What other boats/models would you recommend? I’m not afraid of a bigger boat if it can be single handed. Thanks

    I knew a shrimp boat captain who chewed my arse. You never "drive" a boat. You pilot it just like you pilot a plane. River pilots guide ships. They aren't river drivers. Pilot, not drive.
