    All I can say to those who are just contemplating homesteading or hobby farming ... Do your research. Understand the beasts you want to own and accept their pros and cons. Go out and volunteer at a local farm or ranch to get an idea of what you are getting into. And, don't go into it with a starry-eyed concept of some Disney-theme farm where nothing bad happens and everyone gets along. Reality check ... Farming takes a lot of time, preparation and hard work. For example: Cows are cows. They are stubborn, determined and go where they want if you don't keep an eye on them. If you have a male with a bunch of females they will breed those females. Doesn't matter if it is cattle, chickens, goats, etc. Nature rules on the farm.

    I just bought a highland cow approximately 1,500-1,800 pounds she is in calf/pregnant and AHCA registered and she’s an award winner show cow for $5000. Prices are really set due to the farmer/owner rating what offspring she produces. Prices are all over the place. I’ve seen them go for $8,000-$10,000.

    • @100AcreWoodHighlands
      @100AcreWoodHighlands  Před 3 lety +3
