What prompted the more aggressive written statement? Did he call Justin a prick or something after this live? The tones of the video and written statement are very different.

It's such a shame about cooper not being able to keep up with the band because his stage presence was fantastic but at the end of the day a chains only as strong as the weakest link and if he couldn't handle where the band had gone then it's good you guys had the courage to cut ties to strengthen the link again

What we really need to do is find a permanent drummer for Code Orange!! Max is Tallah and Tallah is max… his heart has to be twisted right now I’m sure…. But the sky is the limit with Tallah and I dunno how much creativity Code Orange is allowing Max to input. Cuz that young man is a musical genius in my eyes. And Tallah deserves all of Max and vice versa

@@mOnStErMACEO Max fits right in with Code & has been doing a great job elevating their sound, especially live. He can be in 2 bands & still put everything into tallah, many artists can juggle multiple projects & it’s usually more creatively fulfilling when you can dip your toe in different styles with different creative people

Good to hear some details about this. It's always a bummer when you like a band so much that you learn the member's names, and suddenly the line-up changes.

Unfortunately this is the case for a lot of bands especially in the heavy music scene. My last project my bassist was a guitarist first then switched to bass to try something new. But he wasn't one of those bassists where he could see what the guitarist was doing and just know what to do right away. So since the guitarist of that project wrote everything he would have to either make vids of him playing the songs on bass or tabs. Good guy got the job done overall. Only crappy part is he spent all his money on weed and plugs for his ears so when it came to record he'd complain about how expensive bass strings were. My guy cool it on the dispensary and you'll have money for strings.

It's tough when the priorities aren't the band's priorities. That's the part of being a "team" that most musicians don't understand.

I appreciate you putting this one up, and also linking the newer statement in the description. Sometimes you need to get more serious and talk some real shit, or lies can spread and reputations can be unfairly damaged. Really disappointed in Coop, whether he means to be malicious, or is just bitter.

Similar situation in a heavier band I’m in. The drummer/vox from a different funk/R&B band I play was originally a metal drummer and wanted to do somethin heavy, so we got him on vox. Except he didn’t really get the “vibe” for over a year. Never wrote metal lyrics or performed in that capacity. Wasn’t very involved with it, and what he did contribute was kinda meh, and got more defensive with each suggestion we made.
Me and the other guitarist had him over for one last attempt to lay down his demo vox before we actually considered firing him. Cutting the track at Atlantic in NYC and weren’t gonna tolerate anything that might complicate it. So we had “the talk” about consensus and roles, and how some are good at certain things - and not so great at others - and how vital it is to know and accept those things and just do what you’re good at. He agreed. 🤞 Then we were like, “And that’s why… this, this, and this needs to be changed bc 4/5 of us are not cool with it.” 😂 But it worked! Demo finally sounded like something we could all comfortably put our names on and the engineer/producer excited as we are to track it for real. Gotta know and be happy with your ability, role, and how to take criticism if a band expects to last more than a couple years.

As a drummer of over twenty five years that's not unusual. I wouldn't say cooper couldn't do it he just didn't want to... It just wasn't in his soul to take the music to the place you guys were going. I'm sure if it went in a funky direction he would have been all aboard... I learned you must play what you're good at And know what you're not good at especially. That's the sucky part of being a musician. You want to fit in everything you do but sometimes you don't😮. Just like you wouldn't ask Phil Anselmo To be the singer in a journey cover band.
