  • Robotic Mower cuts, stripes, and doesn't require an antenna!? Not to mention no boundary wire. This may just be the best mower of 2024

    The airseekers tron is a wire free robotic lawn mower and may just be the must have mower for 2024. It's fully equipped with a 5 camera system called vision that allows the robot to see up to 270 degrees. Making obstacle avoidance easy. The real magic to the vision system is the robotic mower's capability to map out an area in such detail that it doesn't need an antenna system. That's right, this mower does not need an rtk antenna. This self mapping feature is unique to airseekers and the tron one.
    The rtk antenna is an optional add on for more difficult lawns that have lots of transition or for a homeowner that wants the most accurate location tracking. The optional rtk antenna is equipped with a battery and solar panel making placement simple and easy.
    The Tron one has a mow cutting height that ranges from 1.2" on up to 3.5". Airseekers developed a "flow cut" system that sucks the grass upwards and cuts like a traditional rotary lawn mower. The robot mower can handle slopes up to 65 degrees and is ipx66 waterproof. Edge cutting helps eliminate the need to weed wack basic edges (not along walls or fence lines).
    My favorite feature is the lawn stripe setting that also allows you to choose some preset lawn patterns i.e. horizontal and vertical striping as you would see on a baseball field. They also programmed Lawn Pattern Drawing. You can choose some preset lawn patterns. For now, the patterns are limited to circles and flower patterns. Airseekers has expressed in the future they are aiming for a fully customizable lawn pattern drawing system.

    As someone who currently owns the Worx Landroid L (which is junk), here's what I'd want to know/see:
    * this video was done on a super flat lawn. What happens when there's a little bit of a hill? I know it says it can handle a 40° slope. I'd like to see that in action, especially considering it's not AWD, like the Luba/Luba2.
    * Do twigs/leaves get caught in the omni directional wheels? The EcoFlow Blade has omni directional wheels and everyone complains that if a twig gets caught in it, it screws up the rolling of the front wheels.
    * How long does it run on a charge? How long does it take to charge? Is the battery replaceable? This is basic info, because we know this won't be cheap, so 4 years in when the battery is flaking out, can you buy a new one? Or do you have to just get a new unit?
    To me, there's no sense making a robot lawn mower that's not AWD. My Landroid would CONSTANTLY skid out of its boundary wire, then I'd have to come and save it. What happens if this mower slides away from its happy path? Can it drive itself back or does it just get stuck there?
    I refuse to spend thousands of dollars on one of these things until it's truly doing everything on its own and I'm not constantly having to save it, like I did with my Landroid (I refuse to use it anymore because it's actually easier to just cut my lawn myself).

    Finally one that cuts higher than 3inches! Would be very interested to see how a nice stand of TTTF handles that method of cut at 3.5inches! I'm still a 4.5 - 5" HOC myself, but with the razer blade method it might be doable. I prefer the higher cut for moisture management (and to help decrease water frequency) plus looks. My turf stripes champ at those heights.
    Just a quick note IP 66 is great, but not the highest for water. IP 67 I think should be the target rating for a mower just because you could potentially run into some standing water issues. (I'm an Electrical Engineer by trade and deal with industrial systems.)
    Love the high lift blade and the double blade cutter!
    From the obstacle avoidance, would love to see what would happen if you had some large leaves on the lawn if it would try to mow around them or would power through them like you'd want. One of my neighbors has tree leaves about the size of a disposable dinner plate that some times ends up the yard, and they don't really sit flat would love to see how it does with those.
    My front yard is around 3000 sqft and the back around 5000sqft but my house sits right between the two, placement of the areal would be interesting. How does it handle crossing sidewalks to deal with the hell-strip?
    Lastly the striping mode needs a double stripe option! so you get double wide stripes!
    This is the closest robomower to what I'd consider the perfect robo mower that I've seen so far.

    • @PestandLawnGinja
      @PestandLawnGinja  Před 2 měsíci

      As for the cutting leaves.... I'm not sure the razors would handle it unless it was dried out. But I think the obstacle avoidance may pickup on the giant leaves considering how large they are but I'm not entirely sure.
      As for the different areas your talking about. It's a simple task of setting up channels / pathways for the bot to cross while in its way to the different sections.
      Stripes mode from what I have been told will be customizable as your suggesting 😃

    Nice review but I have a few questions. How many zones can it handle? Can it be programmed to turn off mowing when it travels between zones? (I have a gravel driveway that it would have to cross.) How would it handle pine cones on the lawn (a bit bigger than your hot dog)? How much light does the vision system need to operate without the optional RTF transmitter? Could you use it at night or only in daylight? How long does the RTF battery last before it needs to be recharged?

    • @PestandLawnGinja
      @PestandLawnGinja  Před 2 měsíci +1

      the blades do not spin between zones, i'm not entirely sure how many zones can be programmed but i believe its more than 10 (could be wrong, maybe more maybe less). great question on how much light for the vision system, hopefully airseekers iwll chime in.
      As for the rtf battery recharging time, they are now shipping it with a solar charging panel. they believe you won't have to recharge unless light is limited. I imagine if light is an issue you would be rechargin once a week or every other week.

    In fact, what we see in all the test videos of wireless installations is that the lawn mower robot is being tested on a very flat lawn. In fact, we would rather see how the lawn mower works when there are obstacles, such as many trees or other obstacles on the lawn. Can the lawn mower robot cleverly avoid obstacles?
    We also want to see if the GPS wireless signal of the machine will be affected under the shade of trees. In cloudy conditions, such as many dark clouds. Will the GPS signal also be affected? Speaking of which, can machines go out to work on rainy days? These are all very important, and if the machine can only cut grass on sunny days, there will be many restrictions
    If there is a swimming pool on the lawn and the lawn has a certain slope to the pool, there is a certain slope. Will the lawn mower robot fall into the swimming pool uncontrollably under the influence of gravity?
    All the tested lawns are very ideal, but what we would prefer to see in such a high priced robot is that it does not require wiring, but can it achieve more powerful functions beyond that?
    Can anyone who has actually used robot give real feedback?
