1:00: The literary influence on this DLC was a Roger Zelazny novella from 1967 (and which later inspired the 1977 sci-fi/ post-apocalypse film of the same name) called _Damnation Alley_ , which was about this Hell's Angel biker hooligan named Hell Tanner who, after being abandoned by his gang members and arrested by the remaining law forces in a nuked-out Southern California, is presented with a "Suicide Mission" bargain: if he can deliver a plague vaccine to the other end of the country, to Boston, then he'll be pardoned for all his crimes and let go. If he dies in the act, then who cares, it'll be seen as an execution, and they'll send somebody else to reclaim the vaccine from his last known coordinates.
Normally, this mission would be impossible because of a trait of the nuclear wasteland America's become: the high-velocity, fallout-laden nuclear twisters that would flay a man alive if they stayed outside without some form of protective wear, and the intense heat of the residual radiation cooking them alive. Which is just like the Divide, hm?
But, the people briefing Tanner of his mission inform him of one possible "shortcut" that would expedite his trip, increase his odds of survival, and allow him (and more importantly, the vaccine) to reach his destination: the eponymous "Damnation Alley," a route [supposedly Route 66, with a third 6 spraypainted at the end] containing significantly _less_ intense levels of radiation than any other road in the wastes, and to sweeten the deal, offer him a modified amphibious land vehicle called the Landmaster, kitted out with heavy armor, anti-radiation shielding, low temperature AC units to keep the driver and passengers (but more importantly the vaccines) from overheating, 12-wheel drive, bulletproof windshields, external night vision/ infrared cameras for driving at night or in the midst of a fallout-storm [a dust storm mixed with radioactive fallout, like the twisters], and a fully stocked armory and pantry with purified water and military MREs. It was basically a tank, but without the artillery cannon or shells.

@@nerdiboy5128 interesting! Thank you for the background info on the literary inspiration, never heard of this text before!

28:49: Kinda, yes. But more importantly, they're _more recent_ ghouls.
Most of the ghouls you encountered had time to heal and weren't exposed to nearly *_THAT_* much radiation.
No; these ghouls went feral immediately, though whether that was because the radiation fried their brains... or because of the intense agony of their newfound existences, tortured nerves and muscle fascia exposed to sand, dust, grit, and heat causing them to be in perpetual maddening pain... well, I can't tell you precisely. But I suppose in the long run, the result is still the same: they are no longer sane and respond violently to anybody they don't recognize, perhaps following some vestige of their old military Rules of Engagement, attacking anybody that they don't identify as "friendlies."

@@nerdiboy5128 Interesting! So they’re feral but still retain their military know-how and tactics and I guess they’re teaming up between NCR and Legion cause they’re all in the same boat? Marked men are really interesting and it’s a shame we’ll probably never get to learn more about them…

5:35: Or, alternatively, he could be egging you on. He knows that, after following his trail (whether intentional or not), you must want answers from him, and thus he could be using reverse psychology on you, saying "Don't Follow Me," explicitly _because_ he knows you'll do the opposite, either to spite him, or because you're too curious about it to just let it go.

@@nerdiboy5128 Great points, I think the Dead Money idea of letting go also fits here. Courier 6 wants answers and to find out what Ulysses wants, their own obsession!!
