They're from Taïwan, not Thailand p:
And it's Freddy, the lead singer that does all the screams, Doris the female bassist sings in some parts of some songs but doesn't do the screams c:
Would be great to do more reactions on them !
I realize that at the end...what a dumb ass confusing Thailand with Taiwan.
All the singing coming from the lead singer??? WoW, super impressive. We will be doing more of their stuff. We absolutely loved this song!!!!
Some great songs from them for your next reactions :
Next Republic / Takao / Supreme pain for the Tyrant !
I think you'll love absolutely about all of their stuff p:
+ Nice BABYMETAL Funko Pops in the back!
Also, some of the more popular Chtonic songs tend to have a Taiwanse version as well - and they sound even better than the English version.
They are from Taiwan, not Thailand
Fun fact fredy lim is politician and had congress seat at parliment.
Woot, I'm famous! XD
Really glad you guys enjoyed the band. Both of the scream vocals are done by the main singer, but the guitarist and the bassist do backing vocals sometimes (the female vocals in this song were done by a Taiwanese opera singer though). Also, the lead singer is a politician in Taiwan, I shit you not. As for the video, I still have no idea what the "human centipede" is, but the general gist of it is Taiwan fighting for independence throughout history and the ending with the riot cops touches upon the 2.28 Massacre, an important part of Taiwanese history and the beginning of their modern independence movement.
Pretty much all of their songs are fantastic and you couldn't really go wrong with any of them. I still recommend Takao tough. Both the song and the video are beautiful. And I'll stop ranting now. Cheers!
The song is not singed by two people, but the same guy,Freddy Lim.
And the last part is featured by Mei Yun Tong , a famous Taiwanese opera actress .
The story of the song is talked about the people who lived in Taiwan were persecuted by few different regimes for hundreds of years
Every song they wrote is about the history story of Taiwan.
Boy, the bodies are the Taiwanese people past away on the battles against intruders and settlers in past hundred years. That’s what this song is talking about. As a Taiwanese I cannot stop but crying each time I listen to the song.
We are looking for the recognition from other people in the world to our independence and the dignity of standing from past tragedies.
The local language said a young man tried to visit the hell to change the destiny of Taiwanese worriers who were fighting with Chinese Nationalist Army which was a new settler replacing Japanese after WW2. Before the battle in 1947, this song mentioned, the were more than 10-20 thousands of unarmed citizens killed by KMT troops.
F..k damn history.!
Finally someone who checked them out! They ARE amazing. It's a male singer: The only female in the band is Doris Yeh, the bassist. Other good videos/songs by them: Broken Jade, Supreme Pain for the Tyrants, Sail into the Sunset's Fire, and Takao. Also, check out Dir en Grey - SAKU for all you twisted f's out there.
There was only one guy singing. And he's Freddy Lim. He is currently a serving member of Taiwanese Parliament (yeah, he ran for office and still touring performing from time to time. They are having a new album coming soon).
You guys rock. Keep it up!
Great video! If you guys enjoyed that one I also suggest Takao, Broken Jade, Supreme Pain for the Tyrant and Oceanquake
You should try the song "Supreme Pain for the Tyrant", "Next Republic" and "Takao" from Chthonic !
Cool that you liked them, Broken Jade and Oceanquake are two other great songs from Chthonic :)
I really think you should add Persefone to your reaction-list! Great Progressive Metal band from Andorra, they released one of the best album of this year I'd say. They have a video out for the song Living Waves from that record.
Yessssss more songs from chtonic plisss
Thank you so much for reacting to this request!
I'd love to see a reaction to No One Survives by Nekrogoblikon. That music video came out a few years ago and instantly became viral because of just how funny the video was and how catchy the song was. Someone's probably already requested it, but I really think it's worth your time.
Or Whispered - Lady Of The Wind. That one's awesone. It only has a lyric video though
*Trivia:* The band's 2nd album, 靈魄之界 (2000), was remade in English version and released in USA as 9th Empyrean (2002) by Nightfall Records. Their *4th* album, 賽德克巴萊 (2005), was released in English version as Seediq Bale in USA in 2006, and in EU in 2007. Their 3rd album, 永劫輪迴 (2002), was not released in English version as Relentless Recurrence until 2007 by SPV. _Then_ our Finnish label Spinefarm signed them and the *5th* album, 十殿 (Mirror of Retribution), was finally released truly globally in 2009.
Hi I'm Chthonic's fan from Taiwan.
The following is my use GOOGLE translator in order to more complete answer some of your questions and a brief introduction of CHTHONIC. Please forgive me for any grammatical or literal mistakes.
They use fights and assassinations as the theme of the MV because Bú-Tik Palace used to be a place where foreign colonies clash with Taiwanese in Taiwan including the Qing Dynasty, Japan and KMT. The body in the MV represents the victim of the conflict.
The main vocal part is Freddy Lim. Whether high-pitch scream or low-pitch scream. The part of the lyrics that is not in English is the famous Taiwanese opera actress.
Freddy's instrument is Taiwan's traditional instrument erhu. It is like a violin but only two strings.
As for what you say is also a DING DING sound from Taiwan's traditional musical instruments, but I am not sure what the instrument.
CHTHONIC's album is the story of Taiwan, whether it is history, myths or folklore, you can go to their FB or CZcams looking for their songs. Lead singer Freddy Lim is currently Taiwan's legislator, so the current performance time is much less than before, and almost no concert tour around the world. Recently CHTHONIC has a movie coming to Taiwan and LOG lead singer Randy Blythe is also involved, but I do not know if other countries will be released.
At last, I am very happy about your reaction to this song.
LET'S METAL \m/
Hey guys, really loves your video for Chthonic. Please do more video for this amazing band. You may like the song Takao/forty-nine theurgy chains.
You should still check out Whispered - Jikiniki
This band from 🇹🇼 Taiwan
Fuck yea, those guys are badass
Chthonic is a great band. I hope you will check out some of their other videos. Also....mostly the two traditional Chinese instruments you will hear in their music are the Guqin and also the Erhu.
Love Chthonic. You need to listen to Takao, if you want another one!
...Or perhaps their rendition of "We are the Champions" ; )
They do a cracking cover of Painkiller too, which sounds amazing with the traditional instruments in the solo.
The enemies they were fighting in the music video is referred to the colonizers that oppressed Taiwan, from the Qing Dynasty, the police and army of Japan,to the fascist government of KMT after the ww2 and the China civil war. They fought in Bu tik palace which not only is one of the symbol of imperial japan, and later used as the police station for the KMT,but also as a battlefield when the 228 uprising took place in 1947 when the Taiwanese rebel fought back the Chinese army in 40:700 ratio. The naked body at the end can be referred to the souls that was lost fighting for Taiwanese liberation and democracy.
I just a person loves to see people enjoy Chthonic's music.
Cool. I've never listen this band before.
Good video, guys!
If you're interested in more Chthonic, 2 of my favourite songs/videos are "Supreme Pain for the Tyrant" (which depicts an alternative history between the relationships of Asian countries by eliminating the dictatorships over Taiwan killing the tyrant(s) in advance, if I'm not mistaken -which I could-), and 49 Theurgy Chains, which tells a very cool story of the suicide of a monk in a temple under attack in order to save his mates from the Underworld. You should check them out if you're in the mood.
This band is from Taiwan, not Thailand. The lead vocal now is our legislator, the first rock singer but also legislator of Taiwan.
I am a US expat that has been living in China for 6 years. I have seen some great Chinese/Taiwanese Metal bands. One I can suggest is a NuMetal/Metalcore band called Yaksa. Check out their video "You Are Not the Loser". I will probably suggest some other bands in the future.
What about Institutionalized by Suicidal Tendencies for the throwback friday? The 1984 Music Video
Ok Sweet- dont do Vevo video they Bleep out the Lyrics-Maybe Lyrics Video-TELL your son the song is Anti Censorship and a response to them being banned for years from doing Live shows in California in the mid 80s because they were accussed of being a gang,'recruiting members and promoting Gang Violence.
We did a new Suicidal video when we first started the channel and he didn't like it too much but how can you hate on those two songs. I will explain him the history of the song and band before doing the video for sure. Sometimes I do it off camera so the video doesn't get too long.
Also please do the song Havoc by Eluveitie.
I’m pretty sure that it’s pronounced “Thonik” the Ch in front is silent I believe
Please react to "Feed Her To The Sharks" it's a heavily underrated band, start with: Memory of You, Savage Seas, Fuck Melbourne, Chasing Glory, The World is Yours
And also "The Royal": Skyler, Defender, Halfhearted, Earth Gazer
And just all Breakdown of Sanity songs :D
My personal favorite from this band :
czcams.com/video/heF_NPJbv8Y/video.html
This song is about the Taiwanese suicide pilots fighting for the Japanese imperial force during WWII. Taiwan used to be a part of Japan until Japan lost the war. And the Taiwanese people were somehow confused during wartime, unsure of weather we were Chinese, Japanese or mere Taiwanese. But it didn't stop many young man join the imperial force just to find a place of they could call their own.
