- When I installed my Android head unit I decided to add a backup camera, which was specifically made for this generation of BMWs. I found it on Amazon for $30, and it works very well. Its nice to have just for the sake of convenience, and I think that if you're going to bother installing the new infotainment, you may as well get the camera too!

great video, I'm looking at getting this unit for my e90. looking foward to an update on how you're finding using it :)
Brin Woolhead Already recorded, just gotta edit it now!
Hello great video. Any idea of why I’m hating not signal on the back up camera?
Hi, I have the same camera. 4:18 have you found the way to calibrate the guide lines? And also, can you make the sensor on the screen ( red yellow green) work so when you move closer to the things behind you the sensor will be filled with the color (green -> yellow -> red)? Because i saw on your video, same as mine, that the sensor always filled with all the color (red yellow green) even when there’s still a lot of space behind.
That "metal piece in the middle" of your butt connectors, its supposed to be heated, it melts to become a soldered connection. Fyi ;)
Been so long I'll have to check haha thanks
camera DET is for 360 cameras :)
Hi,
4:06 Have you find a solution for remove the parking sensor function at the rear camera view?
Adam O.Ali That little screen on the side? I haven’t really cared to look into removing it haha
Any chance did you have any issues of not getting any power with the red 12v camera wire or APP wire? I tried connecting my camera to either of these wires and theres no power into the screen. I also used a lead test connected to the ground and neither of the wires light up.
I did actually, made another video on this where i tap into the reverse light instead as I couldn't get the other wires to work either
Hi.. Installed my camera, when I put it into reverse, the screen goes to reverse screen but theres no display. Just the sensors are displayed. I dont get no signal error which others have had. Any ideas?
Hmm maybe not enough power being received by the camera for whatever reason?
For those of you who have a manual transmission, or were having issues installing the camera in this way, check out this video I just uploaded of how to fix it!

I believe we have the same camera. But mine is looking way to low, how did you manage to make it look upwards??
A. Sampek As long as it’s properly mounted in the trunk release it should aim properly
Bmw e92 pre lci?
Did you tap into your reverse lights for power?
Not for power, only to trigger them. Went to the battery with an inline fuse for power
Can you still use bmw stock calling feature
If you don’t use carplay, yes you can. If you do use carplay, then that overrides the oem bmw bluetooth and nice profile pic
I have problem with reverse camera connection or the camera doesn't work. So I connected the red wire from camera to right reversing light, black wire is connected with trunk's screw (electric mass I hope so). Yellow RCA cable is dragged through whole car to navigation (the same like yours) and plugged in and the last red wire is soldered to red cable 12V from navigation. When I put reverse gear nothing happens. Even the reverse screen doesn't appear. Do you have any advice?
PyQIT First question I have is which trans do you have? Auto or manual? My camera worked fine when my car was an automatic, but after converting to a manual the camera no longer works. I contacted AVIN and they sent me some instructions to re-wire, I just havent done it yet. I’ll make a video on it clarifying all the wiring for my weird scenario, but maybe it’ll resolve your problem as well

@@SamAbraham So
I'm waiting for a video. Hope you will have time to record it soon
@@SamAbraham I've found some informations in that site. audiotechdirect.com/blog/reverse-camera-wont-display-when-engine-starts/
I had checked before that voltage oscillates about 10V from rear light because of can-bus. I'm going to check in june if it will help.
PyQIT Thanks for the link, I’ll check it out and investigate my rear camera and see if I can get it working soon
How long did it take you to install the backup camera?
Can't remember, probably a little over an hour
@@SamAbraham Thanks. It probably will take me 2-3 hours taking all those trim apart. I am a little slow.
michael wong Better to be careful than to break things!
Bro i have the same screen. I dont have sound ,2 end problem my r camera no signal
You gotta make sure your wiring is correct for the camera. Also your old radio should be set to aux when you're using the screen
@@SamAbraham thank you bro the problem it was the optical cable
Works for da bmw 323i 2011 ?
if ur dash looks like mine it should
Is there any way you can do mine I’ll pay you and I’m sure we’re close since we’re both in California 😫🤝
Which part lol the camera or the screen?
Are the PDC sensors useable?
Luca Couldn’t tell ya, as my car doesn’t have PDC. Looks like the graphics on the display would suggest so but I can’t guarantee
@@SamAbraham Thanks for your fast answer
@@SamAbraham Does the display change automaticly to the camera when you turn into reverse?
Luca Yes it does, was kinda annoying withthe manual trans but if you have an auto it’s as simple as connecting a couple wires
@@SamAbraham Perfect. But does it work with an manual trans
Horrible video: Recording is shaky, almost no explanations, no details about the cabling and the installation of the camera itself is anything but neat and tidy.... lost 5 mins watching this
