Thank you Sir, good review. One question , please. A video I saw - told about reversing the Aux channel - when setting it up for the Sport Cub S - a 4 channel umx plane with 3 modes (beginner, intermediate and Advanced) plus a panic button - and they said something about not getting much elevator control in safe mode if you don't. Do you know what that means or why you would do it? Thank you - I am a beginner - moving up from my ready to fly Sport Cub S with simple radio - now I bought a nice DX6E and I'm trying to learn how to use it. ....
Gracias por su video. Buenas noches.
The Dx6 was my first transmitter. Upgraded a couple years to the DX-8gen2 and last year got the ix12. But I’ll never sell the or part ways with the Dx6. It’s been getting a lot of use lately as the wireless buddy box and Ive got a few 4 channel float planes I feel more comfortable with the older/less expensive DX6 near water/ Never an issue with the DX6.
the biggest problem I have found with the DX6 is that whenever I want to trim my ail/elev (Mode 3 elev/ail on the left) that I turn my radio off due to the placement and the elevation of the ON/OFF switch. anybody had that problem as well ? I have just bought this radio after flying with a fully modified Turnigy 9X (backlight, OpernTX software,...)
Yes, I have seen that happen to others as well. I also had a modified 9x system (smarty board, backlit) I know use Tyranis. I like some of the new E flight planes. So I considered buying a DX something, But I think I will see how I can get a module and use theTyranisnfor Eflight BNF.
I totally agree, not being backwards compatible with receivers is a crappie scam. RF antenna in handle is a dumb idea. Not sure about the health risk of that wattage/frequency combination but I would have preferred to move the antenna as I see fit. Excellent review, thanks for posting.
I think a better value for the consumer is the DX7 because not only is it a slightly better radio, but it includes Lipo battery and charger- actually turns out cheaper than upgrading DX6 to lipo as long as you find a sale price on the DX7.
I own a Spektrum DX9 and so far have not had any problems with it . I purchased a Spektrum DX 6 as back up , have had several frights with it due to lack of range, has anybody else had this problem.
His last video is from a crash he had. I don't know what happened, but a range issue might be totally plausible. He had no issues with his other plane though and same dx6
Hi Rod , I have noticed this year that at my local flying field that some of the model flyers have changed to FrSky`s Taranis . On enquiring as to why this is - They all say RANGE PROBLEMS . This transmitter is reasonably priced and looks a safer bet than the new Spektrums , I have had that many problems with Spektrum i may change to FrSky myself.
I sent my Spektrum DX6 back to Horizon Hobby , were it was discovered that the Radio Frequency printed circuit board was faulty . Horizon dully replaced it , and the set now works perfectly. But in hindsite i think that it is probably better to pay the extra and purchase the DX9.
I rather like my 2011 DX6i. The stick gimbals feel somewhat cheap because they are cheap, but the potentiometers are good and it's a really universal, fully-programmable transmitter with lots of features--probably far more than I'll ever need :) Only thing that sucks about it is the lack of a backlight for the screen. You can add one yourself if you want to.
+David Martin it not new, its the same transmitter but with a slightly faster radio link, only by about 11ms, and diversity. really it will make no difference to most pilots, probably only quad racers and 3d pilots.
+A Google User not really...'new' implies that it is either completely different or has a major revision... this is only a minor production tweak. i was just trying to clear this up so people wouldn't think that they had been ripped off for buying a dx6 recently.
I must add to the video that this applies only to EU spec DX6 radios, not US spec...for some reason, EU radios don't support DSM2, only DSMX, but they do in US spec radios...go figure!
Thanks for explaining this radio. I'm getting one soon and this video will be very helpful!
very nicely done and informative. you have a very relaxed and calm demeanor.
Thank you Sir, good review.

and it also has a rotary knob which is good for gyro gain or as a trim control for other channels.
yep i came across that info some where aswell
Does it have a jack port for the real flight or phoenix sims?
Yes it does, I use it with aerofly Rc
Thats sealed it for me thanks
Is it compatable with AR500 DSM2 sports recievers
Thanks, good video!

Same. I don't think I'll use most of the switches for a while but being able to save different models is a game-changer.
