RF-KIT RF2K+ (with RF2K-S upgrade) Serial CAT Interface with an Elecraft K4 Tutorial

This video is a tutorial on connecting an RF-KIT RF2K+ or RF2K-S amplifier via a serial CAT connection to an Elecraft K4. The first part covers connecting direct from the amplifier to the Elecraft K4 RS-232 serial port on the back of the transceiver. (NOT a null modem connection to the K4) You can use the Elecraft K4 selection in the RF-KIT amplifier menu or the Kenwood TS-480. (RTS / CTS is not required in either case, because you are not acutally connecting to a Kenwood TS-480)
The second part covers using a virtual K4 CAT interface using Win4K4Suite. When using a virtual K4 interface from Win4K4Suite, a null modem cross over is required on pins 2 and 3 between the PC USB to serial and the amplifier USB to serial connection. As of the date this video was created, the Win4K4Suite virtual K4 serial port requires that the RF-KIT amplifier be set to a Kenwood TS-480. (Elecraft CAT commands originated on the Kenwood protocol from years ago). The Elecraft K4 RF-KIT menu selection will not work with a Win4K4Suite virtual K4 CAT interface. Max NG7M
