I am a black female. I don't know why you were on my recommended but I was hooked.....anxious to see the end result. Your easy "mom next door" personality is what really pulled me in. I don't know much about highlights but what I do know is that you did a fantastic job. It's no longer a solid brown at the top, it's a nice and even mixture of blonde and brown. Thanks for sharing. Now I want to try this on one of my white friends. I could really hook her or him up!😊
That's so cool of you ❤
Hi Angie!!! I’m commenting from my daughter’s channel- at any rate I’m a colorist and think you did great-- a few tips-- 1. Pour the powder in first before developer. You will have more control over the consistency. 2. Start applying from bottom up. Meaning do the sides first then work your way to the top. This way you don’t have to clip sections with the bleach. This can lead to spots. ❤️
THANK YOU so much!
I absolutely love the L’Oréal Frost and Design kit. I highlighted my hair during Covid and I was amazed at how nice my hair turned out. I used the cap and although it took some time (I’m an RN, not a stylist), it was worth it. Truth be told, it looks just as good and professional as when my hairstylist does it, but at a fraction of the price.
Hi Angie as a stylist myself I commend you for your patience. I have highlighted my hair when it was short but not at my medium length. Now I just go to a salon. My salon visit with a cut is 95.00 so a little less expensive. Also since I worked in a salon for many years doing clients hair it's nice having someone do my hair. Wow, it looks fabulous! Great job!
You did a great job, Angie! I used to do my grandmother's hair for her. It was a nice time to spend together talking, and she appreciated the help. She was so happy when it was all done! It's not easy to colour your own hair, but it's definitely worth it to save the $300.00 or whatever it costs you. No one would know you did it yourself!
WOW, I thought I was the only frugal one that divided my hair color! LOL! Thanks for sharing and being “real”.
Hey Angie. Good for you! Saves lots of money and looks great. Your makeup looks terrific, as always. Thanks for all the great videos.
So impressive! Coming from a hair professional! 1 tip, if you take the powder bleach and slowly add the developer you will get a paste that is thicker and easier to apply and stays in place. I totally get doing your roots yourself it's so necessary, every two weeks at a salon is too much! Love your videos!!!!
Thanks for the tip!
I didn't know this. Thank you for the tip!
Not "slowly" just mix less developer until it resembles sour cream
I'm a hair professional myself. I'm surprised at your response. Nice to meet you all!
@@missbehaving4710 at virgin hair start midshaft then go as far up as you want then blend the bottom midshaft down to the end.
I'm so glad I gave up colouring my hair and I just love my silver. The worrying about roots, the chemicals, the cost. It's liberating and my only regret is not doing it sooner.
Oh Angie , this was so helpful and it surely takes a lot of patience . Your hair ALWAYS looks beautiful! Thanks 👏👏👏 Pam
Wow this looks so good. I often color my hair at home but haven't yet attempted highlights. I may be brave and try this someday. You make it look so easy! 👍😘💜
I just started watching your you tube channel. Your absolutely wonderful. Thank you for this segment. Now that the hair dressers are closed, us 50 yr olds need our hair dyed. Your at home hair colouring and highlights are well done and simple for anyone who needs to dye their hair. Thanks and keep up the good work! Sending you love and light.
Wow - I can't believe you can do this by yourself!! It looks so pretty!
Thank you for doing this- I’m finding it’s ridiculously expensive to get the roots done every 5/6 weeks and I used to color my hair all the time, too, but decided to go to the salon because thought it would be healthier for my hair to use better color through the salon. I think your hair turned out stunning.
You have no idea how excited I am about this video. I highlighted mine for YEARS, but then I got chicken when I started getting grays. My friend is my stylist so I know she will be fine with doing it in between. GENIUS!! You have saved the day/week/month/year once again, Angie!
I think it came out beautifully. I stopped coloring my hair about 2 years ago after 30+ years of coloring. I'm the same age as you and started really going gray in my 20s...thanks, Mom! I finally had enough and ditched the dye at age 55. I'm lucky to be curly and completely salt-and-pepper, so the grow out was less obvious. I have no regrets! I will never question or judge anyone who chooses to color. I think you look fabulous! But I sure don't miss the expense or work of coloring my hair.
I just decided a few months ago!! I watched this video so I can give myself some gray highlights to blend my brown hair with all the new silvers growing in.
Wow Angie, your hair came out just great! Thank you, you encouraged me to try and do my own. Super job!
I like the plastic caps that tie around the chin and have the blue circles to show where to poke through to pull the hair through. I can pull as much or as little hair out as I want and the placement of the highlights is always so perfect when I finish styling!
Another honest and informative video with your sense of humor sprinkled throughout - thanks Angie! You look beautiful!
I was so excited to see this, couldn't wait to watch! I ALSO do darker roots to cover my grays (I call it "shadow root"), and also do my own highlights. Our methods are very similar, yet I still picked up some tips, thanks Angie!
I get my supplies at Sallies, my hairdresser knows I've been doing my own color since I was 10 years old, so she knows I "more or less" know what I'm doing. I've saved a fortune over the years, doing my own color!
You did a great demo Angie! When you are covering grays every 3 weeks this does save you money, a great alternative to the salon. And you can customize to suit your own taste. You are patient. Good job!
Beautiful job - thx for teaching us how it's done - that's a real great workout for your upper arms - cheers from Canada
Thank you, Angie. Loved this. The highlights look great.
Tedious process, but end result is fantastic!
So happy grey is in! I’m almost there; can’t wait.
I literally do my hair the same exact way, every 2 months or so, roots one day highlights the next, I even use the same box highlights as you do. I get a little nervous when doing highlights for fear of leaving on to long, but usually always comes out perfect and looks great like yours. ❤️❣️
I think it looks great you did a good job. In school they taught us at our place to highlight the front last because it usually turns the fastest, so you could start with the lower part of your head it might give you a better blend after. I love your tip to cover grey as I am getting more and need to change up the way I do it. Thanks and I'm impressed with how blended your hair looks, especially in the back.
Thank you for sharing the art of highlighting your own hair. I love your show and keep up the great videos.
Awesome content as always! Thanks for the awesome inspiration and showing easy steps to achieve the look.
Very, very, helpful! Excellent explanation and demo - Thank you so much!
This is fabulous- do it at home girls!! Cheaper! Yay!! These salon prices just mean you never pay off your house! You are a genius!!! It looks gorgeous! Keep helping us ladies to do it ourselves at home. Great!
Hi Angie, you're a true teacher, well done! Your hair looks amazing, like you stepped out of a salon.
I recently used your link to try eSalon and can confirm how wonderful their hair color is! I even tried eSalon’s highlights and experienced fabulous results! Thank you for your continued suggestions! ❤️🙏🏼😘
Love you so much! I can’t believe how much better my skin is because of you. You are the best!!! Keep up your lovely content.
Helpful tips, beautiful results!!! Thank you for sharing 🌷!
Your hair looks beautifully shiny when you style it straight.
💜🧚♀️💜
I love those lights in your house! Those are definitely life goals
Lol !!! It just hit me... hot and flashy!!! 😆❤️you did a great job on the color and highlights! It looks better than what some professional hair stylists have done. From what I have seen.
Thanks for sharing,you do a great job Ang,patience and dedication,love it !!
Very pretty! You certainly did an excellent job with both colouring and highlighting your hair! 😊🍁
Thanks so much. I've done my own hair with color and high lights on the same day. Loved getting different ideas.
What is your technique?
@@sharroon7574 I use Clarol dark blonde #7 N all over. Dry and then used Loreal highlight kit and sometimes used foil pieces. Or I just did top layers with the finger tip applicator and place where I wanted the lighter strands to be. Always works.
@@debbicardwell3082 thanks! Salon visits are boring and pricey😎
Staying home, COVID-19, can't go out so here I am learning your great way with highlights!
The story of my life 😆...I have medium dark brown hair and have started going lighter to stave off coloring as often. I think you did a great job!
You did a great job Angie and your hair looks so nice. I didn't realize you could use the eSalon twice, so that makes it much more affordable. Thank you for helping us with so much. Have a wonderful day!! Hugs and Love to you xoxo
Seriously, it was all so much easier 10 years ago! I do the exact same thing.. color my dark roots, then add highlights alternating with my hairdresser! Thanks for making us not feel alone in all this🤣
It came out really pretty, Angie. Thanks for the video.
This is great Angie and you are so brave!!
Wow, you are so good at “do it yourself hair color”!! Thank you!
It turned out amazing! Can’t wait to do mine!
Thank you SO much for this! I had my hair, a LOT of it completely burned off by a stylist in Kalispell MT. I've decided to do my own roots and like you say possibly go to the stylist every 6 months or one time a year depending on the results. Really appreciate your attention to detail and the excellent result you got out of a box.
Looks great! I’ve been hoping you would show how you highlight. I think your arm workout video you have under your playlists would help prepare anyone wanting to take on their own hair highlights!
I used to color my hair at home but now that platinum highlights are in my gray is that color so I just have a small amount in dark brown & a lighter brown. She also colors my eyebrows. I only go about every 5 to 6 weeks . I have let my hair grow & I am amazed how much easier it is to take care of! I am watching Menapouse Taylor and what great information! Thanks 🙏🏻
Wow! Beautiful. My arms hurt watching this but you did an amazing job. I need more patience.
Thanks Angie, I can see how you keep the bingo wings away, what a workout! Worth it for such great results!
Wow you really have a lot of patience! And how you can pick out the hairs that need the highlight. You made it look so easy! Thank you ❤
Really pretty results.
Amazing patience! Looks great!
You are amazing. I would never have the patience to do those highlights. Im so impressed.
Thanks Angie! I love watching your channel. Have a great day!
This was fantastic!! I have been waiting for something like this because the salons are crazy pricey, you are right about that. I now feel confident to try this at home thanks to your video Angie!! Xo
I'm a hair stylist that loves to do my own hair at home.. You did such a good job.. Thumbs up
I really enjoyed this video. I have done my hair for years. I love this process. I will definitely try the Loreal kit. Your teeth are so white and pretty.
You are so brave! I colored myself the other day and had to go to my hair dresser to have it corrected. So I defeated my purpose- to save time and money. Beautiful results on you!!!!! Love ya Angie!!! 🐝who you are!🌹
This was great. I saw a hairdresser do the same and start at the middle part, but then she did around her face (part down to ears on each side, because that's where most people have & see the most grey) before she did the 1/4 inch sections and it worked nicely. Nice job, your hair always looks beautiful!
I like that you are real and make life and aging gracefully attainable.
NICE- watching you do this gives me courage, I'm gonna do this... I've been coloring for years but never had the courage to try highlights on my own.
You did a great job Angie!
I have been searching for a video like this just couldn't find anything out there I am so happy you came out with this video I will try this at home been trying to figure out how to cover my Gray I cannot afford a salon thank you so much your hair looks wonderful also
The video isn’t even applicable to me, but I still watch as I find you relaxing to listen to & always enjoy your content. Much love 💕
Hey Angie, I just watched your video while I had color on my roots! I color my own as well. Love your results!
You remind me of myself! Lol I love doing stuff at home. I color and highlight my hair, but never tried E-salon. I'm excited to try it. Thank you for all your help! I'm almost 52 and love getting helpful tips!!
Thank you Angie. This was so helpful. I do exactly the same thing at home. It saves you tons of money and although I adore having it done, I love saving money more. God bless you.
I watched to pick up any new tips and other than the particular brands used, this is how I’ve been taking care of my grays since I got tired of paying $150-200 for color and highlights. I also use half of the color and developer- no problems!
This is my Covid19 emergency hair color plan. Let's see how long I can go! Thanks for all you do!
Your hair looks fantastic! I love your highlights. I’m going to purchase the L’Oréal H90 and give it a shot today. You are easy to listen to, very clear and easy to follow. Thanks so much!
Omg Angie you are full of talents and ideas 😍😍. I also color my roots by myself and I'll use your tip of looking back with a mirror 🤔- I never thought of that 👍. And I'll start doing my highlights myself too 😀😀 , thank you ❤❤.
Well done, I’m a hairdresser and I recommend u start on the underneath parts first . Then work to the top hun. It avoids it from smudging. Well done looks great ❤️
This is exactly the method I have been doing for years. I use a dark blonde as a base and then I highlight about once every 3 months or so. My hairstylist is impressed the nice colour I can do on my own.
Your hair turned out amazing! Love your videos!
Beautiful results!!!
Love the process and I’m going to try it this winter
Nice results 👏👏
Thanks Angie - this is very generous of you. Trying to imagine how to do this at home always seemed just too much! You made it quite doable. ❤
You did a great job! Looks amazing and natural
Woww this is stunning! I’m trying this.
One thing that I like to do after I've highlighted my hair using bleach is to color all the hair using a very light blonde demipermanent color. I add 1 - 2 oz. of water to dilute it, and I leave it on for only about seven minutes. I like this toning method because it's gentle and conditioning on my hair.
Turned out great
Great job, Angie!! It came out beautiful!! Not chunky at all. It's a beautiful blonde color!! ❤
Angie you have more patience than I do! I fork out 220 every 5-6 weeks for mine but I don't spend as much on makeup or clothes. I wish I had the nerves and patience to do it like this! When I was younger I would have in a second! Now I'm too cautious! Thank you for showing us! ~ have a great day! ❤️
That's an awesome technique..wow! No fuss & no muss!!🤩💗💗💗💗👏👏👏
You my dear, have more patience than I! I will never attempt this myself, but I do appreciate your efforts! Love you!!!
Hey, I think you've really got that down! It looks great!!
Would love to see you try a Weaving & Sectioning Foiling Comb For Fine Highlights, Hair Coloring Microblading & Highlighting
Looks pretty easy. I will try it!
Now that’s a good video!! Plenty of time taken to make and just really great content! Due to virus my hair may need attention before safe to return to colorist so thank you ! Stay well ❤️
Wow! It looks really good! Thank you for your easy instructions. Your hair looks great! 👌🏼 😊🌻🌼🌷
You did a BEAUTIFUL job!!
wow this is brilliant! Im gonna do it! Thank you!!
Thank goodness my stylist charges me $65 to cover my greys, roots only, now that I’m 65 I have to go once a month. About the third week I touch up myself with the products you recommended. Your so right the first two weeks after a visit to my salon it’s so pretty, then here they start coming in again. Wow thanks for showing how you do your roots, always wondered how you did the back, I need to try this myself.😘
Thanks, I really needed to see this. It was so absolutely helpful and informative!
