i 3d printed the dumbbell just to make that shot 🤣
What a mad lad.
I thought it was CGI.
Dedication: 100
Magical!
Dedication!
Why would anyone need a dumbbell when modern GPU's can be used as one.
Especially after letting them sag for a while.
Kudos for effort, too bad you can't 3D print new reinforced PCB's though.
Saphire is goat among AMD branded cards
Nitro+ for the win
I have an old sapphire RX480 that I've had since launch in 2016 and still works perfectly to this day after 3 repastes. Now my RX6600XT made by MSI is already having issues with fans after only 2 and a half years.
@@VexxedSR My MSI 1070 has been working perfectly since 2016.
Can confirm im on 7900 xtx quietest cards I have ever owned
Sapphire Nitro + yes, rest are same as others.. I would never buy ref model of these 7900 GPUs. Differences are to big and premium price is well worth. Flagships from Sapphire and Power Color are the best.
As other people have said, Sapphire is where to go if you want a quality AMD product. Much like how EVGA used to be for nvidia.
If I ever buy another GPU
it'll be a Sapphire
how does powercolor stack up to sapphire?
@@XionLuis Do you enjoy gambling? That's the difference. Some PC products are awesome. Occasionally, they launch a fire hazard. It's been several years now, but I remember a Polaris PC card (480 I think) with a VRM barely capable of running the card stock.
I'm not aware of any similarly weak products from Sapphire.
@@XionLuis PC has Red Devil as flaghip that is very close to Nitro plus, built like its ready for war and Hellhound models that are better than Pulse from Sapphire..
I've owned three Sapphire cards, never had a problem
Tony's skill is nuts
Absolutely amazing. There is NOTHING that cant be fixed (except for a dead core)
I have the Power Color Red Devil 7900XTX in an EK water block. It's been well supported it's whole life. May it never grace your bench.
Sapphire is just in another level, if they made Nvidia cards they would also be the best of the best
is the EVGA of AMD
don't doubt it. I had nearly every flavor of the RX 580 come through my hands and the Nitro+ was the best. It's better than the Asus Strix and much better than the MSI Gaming X.
I would argue that sapphire are better than evga in pure quality and functionality.
They do also make some more basic models too, though I would hope that there's at least nothing wrong with those models, even if some of them might be a little mediocre in terms of how good the cooler is (I think they're actually AMD's only manufacturer of a bunch of their very basic reference models for the current RDNA3 generation).
EVGA has had several quality issues in the past, what set them apart is their support
@@manifestoN owner of an EVGA that was supposed to be "great" and formerly Sapphire cards here - EVGA quality is still a step down from Sapphire's
Alright, you have convinced me. I will use this GPU as reactive armour for my tanks. Thank you!
The subtle digs at Alex is hilarious
The first Videos I saw about GPU repair used a machine and lasers to position the GPU to finish the reballing without misalignments, yet you do it with your own hands. And the RAM as well!!!
A true Master with tons of experience.
That's basically proves that repair technicians naturally would know which combinations of AIB/Model are bad, but rarely would see what models are good.
Just because good ones much less likely to need a repair.
2:22 I can see at least two colors and can also read. !!! :D
I can even understand English, this is phenomenal. Can you too? Language is such an interesting thing!
Others did understand op, that say something about you
This was like watching a professional athlete. You don't understand the skill that was just demonstrated until you try it. It is only then you can drop your jaw, clap your hands, and say bravo.
Love the almost subliminal subscribe messages in the timelapse ;)
Thank you for explaining some of the things that you were doing during the video, it helps explain processes steps that often get lost in translation.
I have a Sapphire 3850 AGP and a 3870 that I bought many years ago that still works just like the day I got it, And a 4870x2 as well!
ahhh feelsss
As a fellow strength trainer, I'd really like to know how the customer managed to drop a dumbbell on his GPU which, presumably, was inside his PC?
Please tell 🤣
7900 xtx is such a unit the guy was probably curling his GPU and accidentally dropped onto his dumbell
@@Dansgretski Now that I think about it you're probably right 😆
His girl threw it at him when she caught him watching 4k vr porn 😂
Tens of thousands of people peer over your shoulder as you work and you don't even get nervous ! 😆
Great repair work Tony.. You managed to fix the back panel to as parallel as earth's surface.. beautiful! 👍👍
Experience, skills and talent. You are amazing with the repairs you do. I love this channel.
Like everyone says...Sapphire is the EVGA of AMD, the GOAT if you want an AMD card.
I have owned 6 Sapphire AMD cards. None of them have failed on me so far. And I still have 4 of them in perfect working condition. The other 2 were given away to a friend and a family member. Those 2 are also still working.
Great job. Amazing that there weren't any torn pads or cracked traces.
Awesome! when i want to get an upgrade i'll look for one of these!!
Your skills amaze me...props to you!!
So satisfying to watch. Glad you're giving new life to hardware, and sharing your knowledge around through videos. Many thanks
I really like these montage videos with music. A lot more fun to watch than the non-montage ones.
Tbh I was expecting Alex's clip with the hammer with that backplate 😂😂
Ah you right. Why didn't I think of that 🤔
Sapphire is amazing, I knocked 2 capacitors off while replacing the paste on my 7800 xt pure, and its still running today.
I actually bought a sapphire nitro+ 7900XTX first AMD card, and I’ve been happy with it. It’s in a water block now.
Good job on the fix and nice repair video.
Thanks 👍
Good Work!
I was along time EVGA fan, right up until they quit making GPUS. They had the best quality and best support of any electronics manufacturer. I was so sorry to see them withdraw from the market. My replacement has been Sapphire. They're about as close as anyone gets to EVGA.
That message blip at 2:44 killed me and i just had to slow it down to read it. Therefore subbed.
One of our customers had two laptop screens destroyed by dropping a flower pot on them.
Dumbbell is new though. On a GPU. Inside a PC.
People are strange.
Wow! This video had some good quality!
As ever, excellent work. And excuse me for disturbing you: could you say the temperature and airflow you use to solder the GPU, please? Thanks a lot in advance.
well tony if i have to ever have my 1080 ti or 1650 fixed or just having the thermal paste and pads done i will happy send them ur way because you are a legend at repaires
Awesome work
Great video as always
My first high end card is a Sapphire Vega 56 because I was so impressed and it is the first with the flow-through cooler design. I then bought Sapphire RX 570 and 580s Nitro+, the cooler on Nitro+ powerful overkill nice.
PowerColor and Sapphire are the best from AMD side, and both of them have great performance and also have best designs
as for quality, i remember northridge had 6900XT from sapphire with burnt connector, solders didn't have any additives to help with melting so he had to weaken those to remove 8-pin, i think that's the only case in GPU repairs i saw technician not being able to melt solder just like that
EDit: ignore bracket part, I see it was a dropped card, poor thing. They are heavy! I'm glad I shelled out extra for this unit at end of 2023. I RMA'd first one due to coil whine, second one is much better, while being slightly worse at UV. Only downside to an amazing card and I usually ALWAYS buy the reference cards from AMD. Both cards do 3GHz+ in real world loads and t-delta is well under 10°c. They also sip power using chill, under 160W at 4k/120 in older titles is hilarious.
It passed the dumbbell test, lets go!
On a serious note, Sapphire is the best AIB AMD has, they make good stuff.
Great repair as usual! Hopefully I never need to send my ASRock Phantom Gaming 7900XTX to you for repair, it's been rock solid so far.
I've got the XFX version of this card with the cast aluminum shrouds, Thankfully XFX had the sense to design its own support bracket that actually does a stellar job.
I generally buy used Sapphire Nitro+ GPUs for the quality of the build. I bough a 6700XT Nitro+ that runs stable for daily gaming at 2910MHz and stays cool with a slight fan curve tweak. Its about 5% faster than stock 6750XT. Sapphire makes the best AMD GPUs by far.
I think you did a phenomenal job. I would have to be pretty desperate to try a free-hand reball like this. This is like actual magic to 90% of all technicians in the field.
Have that exact same model. Only converted to water cooling.
Nice beats!
i have this exact card and i put it in an alphacool waterblock aio combo... it survived an 18 wheeler wreck when the case and motherboard were mangled
I knew it would be a Sapphire card when i saw the title of the video. They produce highest quality AMD GPUs for years. The only minor issue is that they do audible coil noise under load
Yeah I RMAd one of these XTX Nitros for exactly that reason. That is also the easiest to 'fix' by the end user typically, so if it could have one fault, i'd probably take fixable/reduceable coil whine.
My EVGA 2080 ti was used as a ladder. It's gotta really nasty bend but still working. Been a year since it happened
I love your videos even though I have no idea what you are doing half the time.
I also love Sapphire cards. Due to limited availability and cost I went with the Asrock 6900xt oc formula instead.
Very happy with it but it lacks the Sapphire design!
Exquisite skill on display
About the boot time, the graphics card is detected with PCI 3.0 instead or 4.0 with x16 lanes. I have the same issue with my motherboard cannot get it to work in 4.0. But try to force into gen 3 in the BIOS menu it should reduce the boot time.
yes! I can see two colors!
the vapor chamber meme 😂
Magical!
Sapphire X1650 Pro 512Mb was my first GPU i ever bought myself.
Soo glad I went with the same model, awesome card and by the looks of the internals Sapphire outdid themselves.
Thanks for the video. I had to slow it down to 75% to watch it more easily.
I got a rx 580 from saphire which got damage pcb on a side and its still running solid . sapphire is goated
My man, using that Stirri flux I see! Which one do you like best? I just ordered up some V3-TF and have really liked it so far. The only thing I'm not too big on with it is that it's similar to V2 in terms of cleaning. While it does come off, it takes a bit more work and alcohol than ASM. Even though they label these as 'no clean' my ocd would never allow the risks involved with flux residue.
I hope the dumbell was ok after landing on that GPU
battle tank.... I'm a proud owner of one of these
Magical! 😁
Yes i have had many Sapphire gpus and they where all great.
I bought that one a few months ago, it's a beast for sure!
Sapphire Nitro cards are worth the upcharge imo. 👍I picked up a used Nitro+ 6700XT early last year and it's so well engineered.😍
ever seen a 7900xtx taichi in repair? looks like a sturdy build
"Magical" lolol i died on that one lol
I have this card, and it's awesome!
I got this model for my birthday! 😃
first gpu i saw with underfill for the bottom chips
As long as Kitty gives it a thumbs up . . . that's all I care about.
2:26 Why do you use LT-HF-TF it is for Tin or Bismuth low temperature solder ? Btw could you make a video about Flux ? I see you use Stirri please let us know which is the best :)
best gpu surgeon out there. i'm always at awe at your skills. it's like the reverse grim reaper lol.
What's your thoughts on the XFX Speedster MERC310 7900 XTX Black Edition? I'm very happy with mine, but I don't know what the repairability/build quality looks like since I haven't had any reason to take it apart.
It's one of the better 'cheaper' 7900xtxs. Lot of people still go for the cheaper Sapphire though.
Hammer is my preferred tool for GPU install.
Ehhmehm tool for repair
I agree that Sapphire makes good AMD cards, but i think the saving grace here was the fact that this card is likely very new and has not been put through many many heating up cycles like a card that has seen constant use for a year or more. Those heat cycles weaken everything in the card and over time it will get more and more susceptible to dumbbell damage.
2:22 yesyeysysys no video output
Tony - "This may be the best AMD GPU..."
Me: *insta-click*
Tony: *shows Sapphire Nitro+ RX 7900 XTX*
Me: "YESSSSSS THE EXACT CARD I USE!"
I'm beyond happy with my purchase some months ago of this particular GPU. I've undervolted my particular card since I want it to last for the next several years. Happy to see it also now has the Northwest Repair "Seal of Approval", too. :D
My sapphire rx580 8GB still rocking til today
NWR and Sapphire doing God's work, love it
Can you do the sapphire pulse version next?
Good work 👏 and good GPU
Did you drop a dumbbell on it to flatten it out again?
Shappire has been best for quality price on AMD carda since RX470/480...
Ok - had you ever a card send in for damaged caused by a dumbbell before? Just out of curiosity how often that heppens. xD Thx 4 the video.
yeah its defently one of the best. they have allways made insane cards.
I just got 6700xt nitro for like 210usd (used of course). Suprised at it's power efficiency after underclock compared to my 2060.
I'm glad I got the same model for my GPU
Sapphire for sure and no driver issues over here in linux world.
That long boot was because of gpu driver hanging or trying to recover something
6:01 the solder joint looks cracked at the top of the cap. Third component from the top.😅
Magical
The Sapphire was the best card I ever had. Now I have an MSI, and it's okay, but in my opinion, Sapphire is two classes above. I can say that it is better than the vast majority of Nvidia graphics cards.
It's amazing how good the quality of Sapphire products (relative to other manufacturers) is compared to what they were manufacturing 20 years ago as an Ati partner.
At least with the Radeon 9xxx series they used low quality components and heatsinks that barely kept temperatures in check.
I have the 7900XT version of this and sadly the RGB lighting mcu failed(rgb strip fails to light up) and also fails the fan health check on their Sapphire Trixx software. I had to Return it to the shop. and yes this thing is built like a tank. I might switch to another brand since the shop has no stocks of this card.
8:03 that car really looks like you
I could get a used 7900 xtx pulse for 790 euros. It looks a bit different than this one at thw video tho.
Ill wait when their price drops more.
I have a msi 6900xt trio. Working well.
