You don’t have to experience a one side marriage to understand what it is like to carry on with a marriage of that kind. It must be so hurtful and so lonely. I feel for princess Diana. I think it destroyed her soul and her spirit but she managed to carry on.

She was infatuated in love with Charles possibly during the time he was taking her sister out. During her short courtship with Charles she discovered he was involved with 'that woman' but married him regardless hoping in her youthful immature mind that she would win him over in the end to an ugly older women. Of course, mature relationships are not based on youth and looks.
Charles in cahoots with 'that woman' planned to woo the innocent Diana to 'obtain' a wife to bear heirs for the Throne.
Charles and 'that woman' ruined diana's life. Charles was an experienced, mature man. He should have put an abrupt halt in the midst of preparations. Instead, l think that, being an extremely selfish, self absorbed future monarch he hoped that Diana like other spouses of kings/queens accept the relationship with that woman.

Charles should have NEVER married a woman he didn't love. Vows meant nothing to him. HRH was upset at her daughter in law, but discounted totally that she raised a man that was bent on having his way AFTER he appeased their pick for bringing forth the heirs. Had she known she was going into the union to be a breeder only. I doubt she would have gone through with it. They despised her popularity and that they couldn't control her like they wanted to. It’s so sad, I do still remember the shock when I first heard this, I had to watch tv, to see if it was true…. She was badly let down by Charles. This definitely was the start of all the trouble. SHE ADORED HIM, and he needed to get married and produce an heir . I am glad she found love after Charles, at least she had some sort of life after her marriage broke down , before she died. 36 is no age to die. And never to see your children grow up. They took her to Salpetriere that night because the Paris hospitals work on a rotating schedule and the best trauma surgeons were staffed there. So there is an explanation. I would like to know why they didn't just airlift her though.
The air ambulance couldn't land near enough because of the built up area and time of night. The paramedics who attended stayed to stabilise the injured people who then had to be extricated from the damaged car. The survivor of that crash was the only person wearing a seat belt. Drink driving and no seatbelt can have catastrophic consequences. As an emergency nurse I saw those who made it to hospital and working with the coroner I saw the bodies of those who were pronounced dead on scene. Tragic for all concerned.
I worked in a trauma center & was a close colleague of a trauma doctor. Her injury was a 1:100 chance of survival. So in truth… nothing could have saved her. 😢

I then realised that nothing could have saved Diana. Actually - I wonder if she might have passed away early on the way to the hospitall as it seems to have been very severe enjuries.

I was about 8 years when she died. I remember I still cried, but I didn't really understand what was going on or what had happened.

I had to get up at 4.00 am on that Sunday as I was due to go on a Battlefields trip to Belgium and France with my friend's daughter's school and my husband woke me up with the news. I remember changing television channels one to the next and they were all showing the wreck. All day people were coming up to us and saying "You are English we are so sorry about Diana". It was a very strange day, so sad she died so young. My daughter and I stood by the side of the M1 the following week to see the car go by.
I was living in Paris at the time, not far from the Pont d'Alma. It was surreal.

I can’t believe the car was travelling at 120 miles per hour. I would think Trevor her body guard would not allow that, and especially if she was not wearing her seat belt. The whole night was strange, and so many things were done and not explained. I would bet 99% it was not an accident, but if it was it was used to get rid of him and her …… but I do not believe for one minute the royal family had anything to do with it.
Yet even Mohammed Al-Faye’s before he died agreed , Diana and Dodi were not murdered as they changed three different plans at the very last minute. One was not staying at the hotel . Two having to ask his father for private security detail to help him and Diana escape out the Ritz back entrance. Three another last-minute decision was made to take a different route than originally planned. The new route led them through a tunnel where the fatal crash happened. So how could Someone plan a crash without planning the details , and why would they try kill someone in a car crash when people could survive ? I think being in a car with a driver driving at high speed, a driver who was unfamiliar with the vehicle, also being a functioning alcoholic , and not wearing a seatbelt is the probable cause of Diana’s death .
