My favorite Jackie Wilson tune. But man this guy was such a master showman! His vocals and foot moves were electrifying. Elvis absolutely loves Jackie too. Glad to see this one.

Before setting out on a solo career, Jackie Wilson was the 2nd GREAT lead singer of the Billy Ward's Dominos, following Clyde McPhatter and preceding Gene Mumford. (actually, 17 different voices sang lead on at least one Dominoes release over the group's lifespan, but the three listed were the truly memorable ones). "Lonely Teardrops" was his biggest selling record and became his signature song for the rest of his career. It's the song that Wilson was singing when he had a heart attack on stage, while performing in a Dick Clark concert in 1975. He fell to the floor directly after singing the line, "My heart is crying." Since he was known for his on stage theatrics, the audience thought it part of the show and applauded. Cornell Gunter (a veteran of many West Coast vocal groups of the 50s and 60s) was with the Coasters at the time, and was watching from back stage. He was the first to realize that Wilson wasn't breathing, and rushed out to give him CPR. He was revived, but spent most of the next nine years drifting between comatose and "concious but unresponsive" states, until passing at the age of 49 in early 1984.

Ah Jackie, what a smooth singer and dancer. He was always fun to watch and so easy to listen to. I am so grateful that I was alive back then to enjoy all the wonderful types of music that didn't include cussing, hating on women, political crap, or any of the filth that much of music today includes. We had one radio station that played all genres and it was wonderful, from Jackie Wilson to Tammy Wynette and everything in between. Thanks for playing this one Ty, totally enjoyed it.

Jackie Wilson was in a class by himself! This man could do unheard of things with his voice, he could flip, and put on a show that would make the women swoon! And his cousin Levi Stubbs of The Four Tops was no joke either! I remember watching this on American Bandstand...no 45 record collection would be cool without Jackie....thanks Tye, lots of memories created on your channel..blessings and much love to you and your beautiful family....
Jackie Wilson and Johnny Maestro (The Crests) grew up in the same neighborhood, knew each other and would sing each others songs on stage. Maestro did an excellant version of this song which is on you tube
Ahh, my dad's favorite singer. This was dad's favorite singer, along with O. C. Smith who sang a song called, God didn't make Little Green Apples. Sure brings back memories, thanks. Great reaction
...back in the day when the presentation and performance were just as important as the vocal, which is off the chart...love this song...
Cutter & Ms C
Ah Jackie, what a smooth singer and dancer. He was always fun to watch and so easy to listen to. I am so grateful that I was alive back then to enjoy all the wonderful types of music that didn't include cussing, hating on women, political crap, or any of the filth that much of music today includes. We had one radio station that played all genres and it was wonderful, from Jackie Wilson to Tammy Wynette and everything in between. Thanks for playing this one Ty, totally enjoyed it.
ha! funny I should come across this vid today...Last night I saw Jackie's son Bobby perform. excellent show!
His name was n character was used in the movie La Bamba with Lou Diamond Phillips playing Ritchie Valens. In the movie Jackie Wilson plays the song Lonely Teardrops in the movie. Good movie. Check it out.
Elvis was talking about Jackie (in The Million Dollar Quartet) how he saw this guy singing Don't Be Cruel and phrased the word "tel-e-phone". Elvis when he was on Ed Sullivan show, used Jackie's phrasing as he sung don't be cruel.
I love to hear and watch Jackie!! Jackie Wilson & Elvis r the best singers and to watch those+
two in action
He was known as MR EXCITEMENT in his time 1956-1975. He had a stroke while performing on stage in 1975 and died 10 years later after being in a prolonged coma. He was only 49 when he passed away. The man is a legend. Check out Baby Workout.
Soo! Happy to see and hear your video of Jackie Wilson I was in Edinburgh Scotland when this came out, just shortly before I came to the USA.littledid I know Then that I would get to meet him and see his show in LA Calif.still have his autograph. But wanted to say a Big thank you for playing this song also try (that is why I love you so ) could go under satisfied . Anyway love you channel and fun ways you have on your show! 🎄✝️
Fantastic then and yes now Jackie Wilson a great singer.
Elvis Presley was a HUGE fan of Jackie Wilson and said he got alot of inspiration from him as a entertainer. Good reaction MRM!
He and Elvis were good friends. They always went to each others shows. He use to imitate Elvis doing Don't Be Cruel and Elvis just loved it! He had a tough life.
He's a little-known treasure from the 1950s. They used to call him "Mr. Excitement." Eddie Murphy used his ballad, "To Be Loved" in a scene in "Trading Places" or "Coming To America" I forget which.
Jackie Wilson was in a class by himself! This man could do unheard of things with his voice, he could flip, and put on a show that would make the women swoon! And his cousin Levi Stubbs of The Four Tops was no joke either! (Another cousin was with The Contours and Levi's brother was the lead voice of 100 Proof Aged in Soul) !And many of his early hits were written by Berry Gordy, founder of Motown Records. You MUST hear "To Be Loved", "Higher and Higher", "That's Why I Love You So" and "Whispers (Getting Louder)!
I was thinking the movie was "Dirty Dancing" but it's not listed on the soundtrack. If it was in the movie it was only a portion. Now I have to watch the movie for the zillionth time to find out. I am loving these classics so please keep them coming.
" Mr Excitement " , Jackie Wilson ! 1st time I heard this in '58, I ran to the Woolworth
s Store, & bought the 45 for 49cents. I still have it today. what a song ! --------MJL< 75 y/o

Never Been to Spain- Three Dog Night
Or
Try a little tenderness- Otis Redding
My mother's favorite singer. Miss you mom❤️❤️
No one, no one in the reaction game covers a wider variety of music than MRM. Keep it up!
Note that Berry Gordy was a co-writer of this song......he wrote a number of songs for Jackie Wilson.......this was in the days well before the founding of Motown.
Soar and sing / dance with the angels!!! Love ya Jackie!!!
Wow I’ve always liked this song but what an amazing performance ❤❤❤❤ love it
Jackie Wilson was one of Elvis's favorite singers!
I watch this every month of so just to watch him dance. My favorite vocal of his is Danny Boy. It's on a level by itself.
The song you are thinking of is likely "(Your Love Keeps Liftin' Me) Higher and Higher."
I could look for ever and not find a radio station that would not only play good oldies, but songs that I forgot about. Thank your subscribers for their requests.
I just LOVE your reaction videos!!! I love them so much, I have totally stopped watching all other reaction videos from other people.
Jackie Wilson was extremely talented! He was a trail blazer too!
My husband was in a band back in the late 60s and early 70s and met Jackie Wilson. Actually got to sing with him on stage. Alas, hubby's band "The Avengers" failed....xo
Yesss!! Bring back those days,, those singers
The first time I ever heard Lonely Teardrops was in the movie La Bamba, Howard Hunstberry played Jackie Wilson in La Bamba.
Love his voice and moves. Never tire of this video.
Whenever I gave birth to my first born son down 8n Louisiana Jackie sister in law drove me to St. Ann general hospital in Mathews in lafourche parish. Jackie was one of Elvis,s good friend they use to sing n mess around a bar in raceland the next little city over
I read Jackie Wilson was on the sound stage when elvis sang Return to sender and imitated Jackie and you can see the smiles on Elvis s face
Jackie Wilson was great, I'll always remember him and his music!
the movie with Patrick Swaize can not think of the name of it but it was a terrific popular movie of the 50s at a family vacation resort and he was a dancer to keep the guest learning to dance and keep them entertained ,great movie ,dance moves ,and music.
Jackie Wilson! One of the all time greats.
I LOVE HIS SPIRIT WHEN HE'S SINGING. Love this song. Thank you with LOVE.
Love this song!!
Jackie Wilson was awesome.he was one of the artist that a very young Michael Jackson loved to watch. Him and James brown.
YEA !! I asked you to play Jackie Wilson ,& you did !!! Thank You! Like I commented before, Jackie's fame spanned racial divides ! This was in the late 50's & 60's . Happy 2019 ! To you & yours!
Ya man, I'm a 68 year old white man who grew up in a Detroit suburb so along with all the blues/rock fusion going down in the late 60's early 70's we would not hesitate lay claim to the Motown sound that we dearly loved. Jackie was one of the best. Love your reaction vids, keep it up.
Jackie Wilson , just the best
"....and you know, I'm so wired up, don't need no coffee in my cup....let it all hang out...." Van the Man loves Jackie. Jackie died alone in a New Jersey hospital. Voice of an angel. An angel on Earth. So please, Brother Renaissance, play Jackie Wilson Said by Van Morrison and then play Higher and Higher by Jackie himself. You will be closer to god, if she's even listening. Blessings to you and yours, my brother. Bg love out to you.
Thanks for reminder I had completely forgotten Let it all hang out.
Jackie Wilson...a legend. So great!
Jackie Wilson, the Man, the MUSIC, the MOVES, the TALENT~~
