Mr Wopat was great at the Niagara Falls Comic Con. He was taking a break at his booth, playing his guitar, and called my son and me over. He asked my son if he knew who he was and my son said "Luke Duke and you were on Smallville..." I helped him, lol. I told him that my wife had to leave early and was sad that she didn't get to meet him. Tom grabbed one of his CD's and signed it; "Sorry I missed you Debbi.", how cool is that?!?

Growing up in the early 80's watching the Dukes I always had to be Luke and my cousin was Bo. Not because I didn't like Bo, but because Luke could kick some ass! I wish they still played the Dukes on TV but I'm thankful they still did while my kids were young. I could put on an episode of Dukes and not worry about what they saw. I did this so I could get some work done around the house but ended up watching the show with them lol. Long live the Dukes of Hazzard!

    • @danstolin8332
      @danstolin8332 Před 2 lety

I think both Bo and Luke could kick some ass (if anything, Luke was marginally better, IMHO -- for instance, Bo held his own in Carnival of Thrills). Yes, it's a disgrace that they have all kinds of vile crap on TV, but not the Dukes of Hazzard. (But at least there is still Walker, Texas Ranger -- it has best fight scenes outside of Bruce Lee, IMHO.)
Certainly there has to be some pushback against the fascists who took the Dukes of Hazzard off TV, with the goal of bringing it back. (And within legal and ethical limits, which the other side may or may not honor!)

I walked by and there was this crazed fan rambling to him, looked funny as hell because the guy was drooling all over him but Tom was a gentleman and gave him the attention and gratitude towards that fan. I was in line behind that fan and I could tell this was going to take awhile so I decided to leave. I came back and that same fan was still going at it. I just smiled and walked past the table,it was at that point that Mr. Wopat knew what was happening and looked up and smiled and actually put his hand on the front end of his ballcap and subtlety tiped it towards me as friendly gesture. I thought that was the coolest thing I had ever seen at that convention and have never forgotten it. I never got to meet him unfortunately because the place filled up quickly after that but it was that little moment in time I wont soon forget. Seemed like an awesome guy. Luke Duke was may favorite on the show, and he just made my day being so cool towards me. Thank You.

Without the fans these shows would have faded never to be remembered; however, both sides have been going strong over the decades. Both cars continue to live in the spirit of the fans and to show an appreciate lets give them something new for 2018...KITT meets the General Lee. Have the actors speak on behalf of each show, the weaknesses and strengths. Nevertheless, no defamation of character or negative criticism and comments.

i use to live in the twin cities MN..... their record low temp is T-shirt weather in "mon-tukey"
i remember going to Washington, DC......
our junior class trip back in 2011
it was like 55 above in DC...... sunny and light winds
we left MT in a -20 degree blizzard.... with 70MPH winds (which would put the wind chill around -50 or 60 degrees..... which actually isnt THAT bad....)
so we were LITERALLY in t-shirts and blue jeans....
and all the DC locals were in HEAVY winter coats ...... type of shit MT dudes would wear in -100+ weather..... given, thats with wind chill, but still..... thats cold
coldest wind chill ive ever seen was -143 degrees
but we got the STRANGEST looks.......
"who are these fucks in t-shirts.... must be crazy people)
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    oh ya......i remember now
2011 (AKA DC trip).... we got 164 inches of snow (record snow)...... and then got a years worth of rain in 2.5 weeks (another record)
then we had record flooding that spring..... not scene 1846 have we had a worse snow record, rain record, AND flood record.....
tom is "bitchin"....... but i like to go off topic.....
still..... Wisconsin dont have SHIT on Montana
-57, no wind chill....to 112 above in the summer........ largest temp range of ALL 50 states (and probably top 5..... in the world....)
    IDK why i live here......

You're not wrong. I've had a permanent lower back injury for over 30 years and I was on Tramadol for a very long time. I was permanently itching, just small itches but always moving around my body and I'd be forever scratching my arms, head, stomach, legs etc. all day long.
Eventually the pain got worse and the doctor moved me on to slow release morphine tablets and strangely the itching went away, even though the morphine is higher up the opiate scale.
I still take them, it's the only way I can work, but although the pain relief is fairly effective there's no high with it at all as they are slow release tablets.
But, yeah, as you say, it's very, very obvious with all that scratching.

Hate to say it, but John is way cooler in real life. I met them both. They are my childhood heros. John seems to really enjoy having been on the Dukes. Tom seems like he hated it....like it ruined his career afterward or something. I believe his ego still resents Dukes of Hazzard. I must've caught Tom at a bad time I guess. It was right after he smacked that teenage girl on the butt and said "nice ass!". Anyway, I still like Luke Duke, just not Tom Wopat. John Schneider is as cool Bo Duke all day long! One more thing, if you ever want to meet Tom, make sure you have a $20 bill to give him or he won't be friendly to ya.

This was prior to him getting busted with coke a few months later so he is probably a little wired up on some blow. Supposedly he is clean now and got his demons in check. I hope so. There's not much of a future or longevity plan for someone still doing dope and being close to 70 years old. Still he's only human and the fact that these guys were instant stars in the late 1970's at the height of excess in Hollywood and they never got caught up in any drug related chaos or disaster carries a lot of weight. This seems to be something that reared its head later on in Tom's life. Kudos to getting sober from the booze and the powders.
