I'm happy to see you using a poor man's setup, I for one can't get a three grand outfit. You do a great job and hope to see more poor man pellet work. Thank you!!!
I LOVE that you're using a break barrel. This shows that this is possible for the majority of us airgunners who can't afford more than a break barrel, or who just want a challenge, even though the only challenge is loading quickly. Break barrels are JUST AS ACCURATE as PCP's.
My shoulders are so screwed due to injuries...DAMN... I want a multi shot break barrel or a springer under lever so freaking bad. Can’t even shoot my Benjamin Sheridan 392PA anymore..., and it has served me well for decades. By the time I learned what a quality”Springer was it was too late...I love to shoot...PERIOD! I love air guns. I love pesting/hunting/target/plinking and the like with airguns. I’m stuck at the moment with PCPs, and I’m not complaining at all. The fact that you can make those shots at that distance...is a statement to your shooting prowess. God bless and please keep them coming! Your very fortunate my friend. Take care.
Thanks very much Heath. I am pleased to hear that you are still able to do some shooting with a PCP. I am not a great shot with a spring gun - pretty average - but the rats were all less than 20 yards away, which was helpful... Thanks for watching. Mat
Welcome back to the real world! Good spring gun shooting there, I reckon most people can relate to this much more instead of the NV and mega expensive rifles usually on show, nice to see.
Thank you for the lamping video I've been hoping someone would do one I'm only able to use a lamp on rabbits and as much as I like watching night vision video's it takes all the skill out of night hunting
That's right. It is just harder to shoot them with accuracy. The rats were all quite close so the shots were very straightforward. Thanks for watching. Mat
I totally agree that the Airgun world has forgotten their roots with the break barrels. Which I would guess is the majority of shooters. Nice to see a setup for night shooting. Please do more of this. And spread the word to your other CZcams channels. It could be just coincidence but the rats seem to just fold up and die. Not all that kicking and crap from being shot with a pcp. The video was totally what the doctor ordered. Thanks.
Amazing shooting with a springer at night. Goes to show that we probably do not need all this dangle fangle HD NV or thermal spotters for air rifle hunting. Most of those rats died without a twitch. Shots well placed. Thanks for this, I really enjoyed it.
Glad you liked it. The hi-tech kit makes a small difference but I think too many shooters rate it over fieldcraft and an understanding of their quarry, which I think is key. Thanks for watching. Mat
When I was seventeen I bought my first air rifle,(1971) then nothing until 2020 when I got a Gamo Whisper! It is so accurate much better than the other rifles I have bought since (don't ask) but as your other comments, It is so nice to see a break barrel used with great effect, since I have mine I do not have a rat problem. Keep up the good work
Great video - and really pleased to see a simple springer and lamp combo really delivering the results. Wouldn’t fancy heading into that slurry pit afterwards though!
Ive been getting day time rats but not had any luck lamping. Good to see someone lamping for my current quary and making it work!!! Will persevere. Great episode!!!
Certainly appreciate the video as I don't often come across ratting videos with a break barrel. I really love the break barrels as they don't take away the feel of the real gun because of their recoil.
Great shooting there mate. Very nice to see a video of some classic springer shooting. Even with the silencer, the rifle still has a bark, also noticed your safety switch "click" is quite distinctive, before you take the shot. Really enjoyed this session. Looking forward to the next one.🤠🥳🤓💯
i have the 95k in 2.2 ... .. a last forever gun always ready no fuss... i have taped dense material around the body part of the spring section, it deadens the noise much more..and also protects the wood from abrasion etc.... the springer in this video certainly spanks the rats a lot more than the pre charged video's i watch..... nice one
Nice work with the break barrel. My Gamo Shadow Sport won’t hit the broadside of a barn (so to speak). It’s just too inconsistent to even zero in. I’ve cleaned the barrel, and tried a few different types of pellets. No good. I give up. Getting an FX Maverick.
Brilliant video matt. I've been using a. 22 rimfire for rabbits but I've got a permission with paddocks etc so I've got a bsa ultra after watching your review on the ultra.I'm definitely going to get one of the lamps your using aswell until I get a pard 007.
So the red flood beam is only available on this special version from the Photon Shop ? Is there a website ? The "regular" HM65R sold on the Fenix website and Amazon, does not appear to have this red light feature. I'm looking for a versatile headlamp for night hunting like you demonstrated... but I'm in the USA.
Is it suggested that the rifle/lamp is kept still whilst aiming at a baited spot? In other words, will even slight movement of the rifle/lamp give off my position?
Mat, you are a great presenter! I love The Shooting Show too! And of course, you are a cracking shot! I just have a question: I'm bit baffled which rifle to buy: Zbroia Hortisia or Weihrauch 110, both cal.177.? Could I ask you for your opinion? It's truly a hard choice! Also, I'm about to join the Sport shooting here in Slovenia and I plan to become a trainee in neighboring hunting family. Pest control, here I come!
Great video, how do you drop the rats like a sack of spuds, when I'm shooting they flip all over the place and I loose them under the buildings or back down their holes, am I using the wrong aim point for my head shots.
I have watched a lot of this type of video and noticed the rats here , using a 0.177 pellet, seem to die instantly. Most other videos show the rats leaping and kicking . I KNOW there is always the disclaimer that the jerking is just post mortem nerves but I wonder if the 0.177 does give a cleaner kill, better penetration than a 0.22 or 0.25. Unfortunately, I don't shoot .
Good evening, nice shooting, was good going back the old school way of shooting, definetly my preference, not that i have much choice in the matter ha ha, what pellets were you using in the good old weirauch?
I have a question, generally, when shooting rats, is it useful to remove the shot rats immediately after shooting them or leaving them and cleaning up when you're finished shooting? Do the rats care about the dead laying around or should I refrain from walking around the area where the rats are? Love your videos! Cheers
Better than most people think. You can't tell up close because your face is close to the noise of the spring and piston but a decent silencer will make it quieter downrange. Thanks for watching. Mat
Compared with other headlamps on the market, I think it is very well priced. It is built like a tank, compact, easy to use and has very impressive run-times. Thanks for watching. Mat
I LOVE YOUR SHOW . AM TRYING TO GET A PCP AIRGUN. I LIVE IN BALTIMORE CITY. I HAVE ABOUT 10 GOOD AIRGUNS .I WANT TO DO MY AIRGUN SHOW YOU HAVE ANY TIP.
This is what I've been waiting for years!!! More Springers with Night Shooting.
More Please!!
Glad you liked it. We will do our best to do something similar again.
All the best. Mat
I'm happy to see you using a poor man's setup, I for one can't get a three grand outfit. You do a great job and hope to see more poor man pellet work. Thank you!!!
Thanks Doug. It was really nice to use some simpler kit.
All the best. Mat
I love springers, and I thoroughly enjoyed your ratting session in this episode. More springer action, please!
Really pleased that you liked it. We will try to include another springer hunt soon.
Thanks. Mat
Long live springers. And The Airgun Show. Truly love all episodes. Thanks Mat you delivered again
Thank you very much for watching.
All the best. Mat
Love the springer videos! Feels like more of a challenge, and a lot more fun! Something about springers that give me joy!
I LOVE that you're using a break barrel. This shows that this is possible for the majority of us airgunners who can't afford more than a break barrel, or who just want a challenge, even though the only challenge is loading quickly. Break barrels are JUST AS ACCURATE as PCP's.

I am not a great shot with a spring gun - pretty average - but the rats were all less than 20 yards away, which was helpful...
Thanks for watching. Mat
Cracking shooting Matt, nice to see "ordinary" kit doing a great job.
Thanks for watching.
All the best. Mat
Welcome back to the real world! Good spring gun shooting there, I reckon most people can relate to this much more instead of the NV and mega expensive rifles usually on show, nice to see.
Hi Matthew. We get a lot more demand for PCP and night vision but I enjoy shooting springers and will include them when I can.
All the best. Mat
Great work good to see a springer getting used.
Thanks very much.
All the best. Mat
Great shooting Mat,with some lovely basic kit.Just getting into shooting again and just shows you don’t need to spend a fortune to start out!
Atb👍🏻
That's right. This sort of kit still works as well as ever.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Thank you for the lamping video I've been hoping someone would do one I'm only able to use a lamp on rabbits and as much as I like watching night vision video's it takes all the skill out of night hunting
It certainly is more challenging.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Nice to see a Springer being used. People say they are not as accurate as pcp but that's only cos they Cant shoot a Springer well.

It could be just coincidence but the rats seem to just fold up and die. Not all that kicking and crap from being shot with a pcp.
The video was totally what the doctor ordered. Thanks.
Glad you enjoyed it.
The kills were the same as I would expect with a PCP but I like the simplicity of this setup.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Brilliant stuff mat! Was great to see you out doing old school lamp tactics with the 95 cant get a much better workhorse than that 💪
It's a great little gun.
Thanks. Mat
Good to see a springer again. They always worked well and still do. 👍 Good tally of rats as well. Well done Mat! 👏👌
Glad you enjoyed it, Tony.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Really enjoyed watching, it's great to show that sprinters still are effective.
Thanks Alan. Conventional kit still works as well as it ever did.
All the best. Mat
I have to say this Mat, you're a bloody good shot!!
Amazing shooting with a springer at night. Goes to show that we probably do not need all this dangle fangle HD NV or thermal spotters for air rifle hunting. Most of those rats died without a twitch. Shots well placed. Thanks for this, I really enjoyed it.

very good video, Have a rat problem in my barn so glad to see this lamping video thanks

Great to get back to basics Matt, where we all started from. Best wishes from Northern Ireland.
Thanks Derek. I'm still very fond of the HW95 and it was nice to use it for a change.
All the best. Mat
Great video - and really pleased to see a simple springer and lamp combo really delivering the results. Wouldn’t fancy heading into that slurry pit afterwards though!
Yes, glad I didn't have to retrieve them from there.
All the best. Mat
Need more like this. Springers hunting not every young beginner getting into the sport can afford a deserible PCP.
Really enjoyed that, it's great to prove that sprinters still have their use.👍
Thanks Alan.
All the best. Mat
haha well done. nice shooting... and using the old school gear... fantastic...made me go back a few years back... lol..
Great to see a springer in a hunting video! Nice shooting Matt 👍
Thanks very much. Glad you liked it.
All the best. Mat
Another excellent video Mat. It was a change to see a more basic setup for ratting. Good show!! 😁
Thanks. I thought we should remind people that you don't have to spend a fortune on kit.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Excellent video! Glad to see someone getting back to basics with a Springer. Testament to your shooting skills as well.
Thanks Richard. It certainly was a bit more challenging.
All the best. Mat
Great to see a good quality Springer getting the job done! Good bag there Mat!
Thanks Anthony. It made a nice change.
All the best. Mat

Yes - it's a bit more mechanical than my usual guns.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Matt you seem to have enjoyed that rat hunt ,if the smile on your face was anything to go by. Love the show.
Really enjoyed using simpler kit.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Nice to see a Springer a 32mm scope and lamp set up ... brings back good night's landing years a go...helo from ireland...down south...
Great video always fun to have a spring air gun in your collection
Yes - great guns.
Thanks for watching. Mat
I love this video 👌 I love the simplicity of my old HW97 and a fairly small Minox scope. It makes me grin just like you were with your Weihrauch
Great video Mat. It does us all good to be reminded that you don't need high tech gear to take care of pests in the field.
That's right. Hi-tech kit gives a small advantage but knowing your quarry is the key.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Nice to see a Springer in action
Really enjoyed using it again.
All the best. Mat
Thx for posting a ratting vid for us poor people. Enjoyed this. And I love my springer
It was great fun to get out with a springer for a change.
All the best. Mat
Love it, don't see many springer ratting videos, 👍
I hope we'll get round to doing another.
All the best. Mat
i have the 95k in 2.2 ... .. a last forever gun always ready no fuss... i have taped dense material around the body part of the spring section, it deadens the noise much more..and also protects the wood from abrasion etc.... the springer in this video certainly spanks the rats a lot more than the pre charged video's i watch..... nice one
A long time coming shoot with break barrel...nice one.
I hope we'll have another before too long.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Those are huge rats mate - nice shooting !!!
They are very well fed...
Thanks for watching. Mat
What a great test of that Springer works really nice and that light really nice too Great video keep up the great work and stay safe
Thanks very much.
All the best. Mat
I have two Fenix torches, They are both exellent
Great brand. Very well made.
Thanks for watching. Mat
All them high powered pellet gun are ok but springer are the best. A rws 48 22cal.an well the air magnum. They are do the job.great to shot .
Was Doing this Back in The 1980's with a scout Torch and a Weirach HW80😎😉
thanks sir
Thanks for watching. Mat
great shots! especially without a tripod
Good shooting 👍
Thanks for watching.

Dead eye Manning 9 for 9 WOW !
They were very close shots. No excuse for missing.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Realy like the jacket
Yes, I'm really pleased with it.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Good shooting matt
Thanks Phil.
All the best. Mat
I was doing the same last night, but going to invest in a night vision set up to try out. Great video 👍
nice shooting
Thanks.
All the best. Mat
Good old break barrel and lamp!!!
Great video. 👍
Thanks.
All the best. Mat
Love the non pcp vids.
We'll try to do some more.
Thanks for watching. Mat
LOVE THE SETUP.
another great video, and its good to see a "proper" air rifle being used :-)
It certainly made a nice change to use a springer.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Nice guns! I only have a Daisy 426 ( yes I am cheap) and my interest is more into cross bows but I do love the ratting videos!
The struggle is real, broke as, but a hunting I will go. Me a nd my 38 baikal .177 open sights love it
Hi mat I’ve just got myself a 95 cracking little rifle can I ask wat pellets your using 👍🇬🇧
Brilliant video matt. I've been using a. 22 rimfire for rabbits but I've got a permission with paddocks etc so I've got a bsa ultra after watching your review on the ultra.I'm definitely going to get one of the lamps your using aswell until I get a pard 007.

This thing seems to hit even harder than air-operated rifles😯
Mat, you are a great presenter! I love The Shooting Show too! And of course, you are a cracking shot!
I just have a question: I'm bit baffled which rifle to buy: Zbroia Hortisia or Weihrauch 110, both cal.177.?
Could I ask you for your opinion?
It's truly a hard choice!
Also, I'm about to join the Sport shooting here in Slovenia and I plan to become a trainee in neighboring hunting family. Pest control, here I come!
Difficult choice and really depends on what feels best to you. I would probably go for the Weihruach.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Great video, how do you drop the rats like a sack of spuds, when I'm shooting they flip all over the place and I loose them under the buildings or back down their holes, am I using the wrong aim point for my head shots.
I just try to hit them between the eye and ear or between the eyes.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Nice shooting man
Do more spring
Hi Frederick. We get a lot more demand for PCP but I like springers and will do my best to include them from time to time.
Thanks for watching. Mat
More springer!
I have watched a lot of this type of video and noticed the rats here , using a 0.177 pellet, seem to die instantly. Most other videos show the rats leaping and kicking . Hi. Nice shooting. I'm not a shooter but would BBs work as well? I would get tired of loading one by one. Thank you for the video.
BBs probably wouldn't deliver the kind of accuracy needed to achieve clean head shots.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Can you make a rewiew of aselkon Guns. Always good to follow. The shooting show.
Wow the springer stops them there a then good shooting what pellets are u using
Rangemaster Sovereign.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Good evening, nice shooting, was good going back the old school way of shooting, definetly my preference, not that i have much choice in the matter ha ha, what pellets were you using in the good old weirauch?
The Weihrauch loves any JSB-type pellets. I was using Rangemaster Sovereign in this occasion.
Thanks for watching. Mat
I have a question, generally, when shooting rats, is it useful to remove the shot rats immediately after shooting them or leaving them and cleaning up when you're finished shooting? Do the rats care about the dead laying around or should I refrain from walking around the area where the rats are? Love your videos! Cheers
What pellet and weight were you using??
Wowwww🙋♂️🙋♂️
My garden bird feeders get hammered by grey squirrels and have knocked off half a dozen this year, but wat do you d with the carcass?
How effective is a moderator on a springer pl, great videos as per
Better than most people think. You can't tell up close because your face is close to the noise of the spring and piston but a decent silencer will make it quieter downrange.
Thanks for watching. Mat
is the 95 tuned?
No - I've had it for several years and the only luxury it enjoys is a wipe down with an oily cloth after each outing.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Don’t suppose you can recommend a gun under £150? No brake barrel though please
Is it me or does the Springer kill quicker and more efficiently?? I prefer them
Great springer shooting but head lamp is really over priced for what it is
Compared with other headlamps on the market, I think it is very well priced. It is built like a tank, compact, easy to use and has very impressive run-times.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Can one buy these online ?
I LOVE YOUR SHOW . AM TRYING TO GET A PCP AIRGUN. I LIVE IN BALTIMORE CITY. I HAVE ABOUT 10 GOOD AIRGUNS .I WANT TO DO MY AIRGUN SHOW YOU HAVE ANY TIP.
Does the law require hunters to pick up the dead rats after they are shot dead ?
You can't beet the hw95
It is a brilliant gun.
Thanks for watching. Mat
Always said if you can't accurately shoot a spring rifle then you're not a real shooter, anyone can shoot a PCP...
Rats cannot see red light
Awesome shooting
