Blade: Trinity is a MAJOR drop in quality from the first two films. The troubled production resulted in an absolute mess of a movie...and yet...I still somehow enjoy it.

What they did was way better than what you will ever do. Blade Trinity will be remembered. You won't. Think about that lol.
@@CaIypso5150 😂😂 are you defending a movie that Cody actually did his best to put a positive spin on when it probably doesn’t deserve it? Or are you just having a pop at Cody for what he has chosen, and frankly doing an awesome job of, to do as a career?
Either way go get a hug off someone, you clearly need one. And hopefully find something positive to do with your time 😉
@gleave9 Nah, he just thinks he's an edgy troll, not someone who's less than our man Cody
@Calypso Read the room, Dude. Time for you to exit.
Blade Trinity is going to seem like a masterpiece compared to what the MCU is going to do to it
I always thought the most asinine thing in the movie was Hannibal, a human character, being able to go toe to toe physically with a vampire.
If just anyone can fight them, it destroys Blades importance.
This is a problem with the entire series; should Blade be cutting down legions of vampires so easily? To me, all the vampires looked weak as hell.
@@PerfectTroy1Well Blade obviously has training which puts him way above the avarage vampire. When he fights vampires that know how to scrap he sometimes gets overwhelmed, just watch the first Blade for reference. Blood seems to work as a power booster for him as he nornally relies on a replacement drug.
@@Peer165 , blood definitely boosts Blade’s abilities in the movies. I don’t ever recall him getting overwhelmed, aside from maybe once. My point is that Blade rarely seems challenged. The comics are clear that he is less powerful than a Vamp, but more tenacious
@@PerfectTroy1 It's already been said in the movies that Blade doesn't have any of their weaknesses, and has all their strengths and the boost factor he gets when he drinks human blood, the reason he doesn't get challenged or struggle is because his arsenal is packed with things that vampires are usually weak against, in the blood rave scene he fires silver bullets all over the nightclub that are extremely lethal to any vampire, one bullet and they're ashes.
You nailed it. That was My problem with The Night Stalkers story. There's no way a human should be able to take down a vampire 1:1. Blade should never have mistaken a familiar for a vampire when he could tell a vampire by the way moved or smelled in the first film.
The biggest mystery of this movie is how do you make Dracula uncool.
Dracula has been missed on
It can't be very hard, they made him uncool in Van Helsing too
@@Gregbaltzer 😂😂 Heeeeyy. I like that movie. C"mon now.
@@danskyl7279Van Helsing is possibly worse than Blade 2! It is no where near Blade Trinity!
@@LikeGod_ButBetterLooking Blade 2 yes, but Blade trinity nah.. Action scenes in Trinity is boring compared to Van Helsing. Plus the corny and cheesy stuff are done way better in Van helsing.
This movie was supposed to be a post-apocalyptic movie where the vampires has taken over the world and David S Goyer said no, we don’t have the budget for that type of concept and that’s one of the reasons why Wesley acted the way he acted on set but the movie it’s still watchable to me it’s very nostalgic..
I read it was the other way around. David submitted the apocalypse idea, but the studio said it was too dark and bleak.
And I had no idea the Blade movies inspired The Matrix franchise.
A lot influenced The Matrix. Bullet time already existed in film, it's far less unique of a film than people realise. Just a mish mash of stolen concepts.
@@keithbalbi3927 WHOA... (in the voice of YOUNG Keanu)
The first film was like a prototype version of the matrix
@BenJohnston1 it was also the best. Once they decided to try and "explain" the matrix, it got over convoluted.
Dark city, blade, and thirteen floors are the inspiration for the matrix.
Blade: 😯🫢👏
Blade 2: 🤯🙌👌
Blade Trinity: 🤨😑🤦
25:17 Kris Kristofferson probably read the script and thought "They should have just killed me off for good in the 1st one."
I think what went on behind the scenes is more fascinating than the movie itself
The triple h scene looked like a actual match lol 😂😂😂
I totally agree that despite all of its flaws I still enjoy this film
Wesley said that the production was pushing him to the back to make a "white blade". In his opinion. Basically the director and the movie company turned the cast and production against each other.
I'm sorry but I never thought Blade Trinity was that bad. Ryan Reynolds has a lot of great moments. I love when Blade raided the human blood factory
“Wtf is this, Diablo?” had me crying. Lmfaooo totally accurate description of that character design, as a lifelong Diablo fan. Vampires do NOT look like that.
He looked more like a demon than a vampire.
4:21 It wasn’t just Guillermo Del Toro, Stephen Norrington who directed the first Blade movie couldn’t return to direct the third movie because he retired after his last movie, “The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen,” was such a HUGE disaster with its production, losing sets to a nasty flood, studio meddling and tensions between Stephen Norrington and star Sean Connery who also retired.
I think Karen simply used the same cure on herself that she did initially. Remember, she told Frost, "go ahead... bite me, and I'll just cure myself. I did it once and I can do it again". She didn't turn immediately. She survived that night and into the next day and possibly the next before she cured herself. So, that would have left her plenty of time to cure herself after Blade fed on her blood and the final act took place. That's my guess as to why they weren't very worried about it in part 2. And I think Hannibal King probably didn't know about this cure and even if he did, he was still scared about the idea of being left to turn and possibly killing the little girl if things went bad. I didn't really see that as being too much of a plot hole when looked at that way.
Honestly i feel like they shouldve taken out Dracula and put in Morbius from Blade 1's deleted scene and made him the main antagonist
Right. I had the book & it was supposed 2 b Whistler he saw
@@dominiquejones3805 really I didn't know that. I just saw that they filmed a scene with Morbius played by the director and teased Morbius but it didn't make the cut
I really wanted to see the original idea for Blade 3. Taking place in the far future in post apocalyptic vampire world like I Am Legend. A Mad Max like Blade movie.
Marvel please hire this guy☝️
The behind the scenes of the movie was more entertaining 😂😂
7:04 It was a Nightstalkers film that happened to feature Blade rather than a Blade film.
Ryan reynolds auditioning for Deadpool in the middle of a sequel that was supposed to be a spinoff with a disinterested star is all the ingredients for a disaster
Is Blade Trinity bad...yes...is it still entertaining...also yes
I think if Blade & Blade 2 werent so good then the third wouldn't look as bad in comparison
Fun fact about the behind the scenes, according to ryan reynolds wesley snipes continuously called him a cracker on set
Lmaooooo not sure if I believe it but
Kept telling him he was n his shot or something
The MCU Blade movie is going to be rated R like Deadpool 3 will be. Kevin Fiege has mentioned this a couple times.
Wesley told the truth. He hasn't had any problems working with anyone else except the guy that took over Blade. And all the guy did since was just talk crap about Wesley anytime anyone gave him a microphone.
With Guardians 3 finally dropping the F bomb, and Werewolf By Night and Multiverse Of Madness pushing the envelope a little bit further on the blood and violence, there's still a slight hope that Blade will get the R rating... but not much.
Terminator, Spider-Man, Alien, The Godfather, Superman, at least Blade is in good company when it comes to franchises where having a great first movie, an even better second movie, but falls off the cliff with the third movie, and like those previously mentioned franchises, the 3rd movie I do have a guilty pleasure for. Glad to hear I'm not the only one who does for Blade Trinity. Thank you, Cody.
"At least we can all agree that the third one is always the worst.." Jean Grey X-Men Apocalypse. Which is funny both because it was the third movie in that series and they're making fun of the third movie in the prior series which many don't like. But it stands with your point of the third movie always being bad. Though I do like the third Terminator and Alien, but that's just me.
Blade 1 - Amazing
Blade 2 - Awesome
Blade 3 - Beyond disappointing
This had potential to be one of the best Trilogies ever..... and then here comes blade Trinity smh
Abigail Whistler was supposed be Rachel Van Helsing from the tomb of Dracula comics but they change it.
This movie made Ryan Reynolds a household name
No Van Wilder did
@@benjaminmartinez1638nah blade trinity definitely boosted his popularity
Hey Cody! Another awesome review! Loved the montage of reactions to the revelation of what MCU Blade might be 😂😂
If the mcu one ever comes out this will be a masterpiece in comparison
I always thought blade Trinity was okay.
Not terrible but not great
That fact they got this movie made with all the behind the scenes problems is an A+ but we did see Ryan Reynolds pre Deadpool here
I heard he was on the table but refused to open his eyes 😂
Hey Cody, greetings from Croatia! Love your channel and your reviews, I am also a horror fan, and some of your vids reminded me to rewatch some good old movies. Wow i didn't know all that about behind a scene stuff about Blade, but I actually like Blade 3, not as much as first two, tho.
It was like "Blade 2 was awesome, how can we make it worse?"
This is what happens when director/writer gets full of himself, along with the studio, and then, try to cram every everything into one movie. It's no wonder why Snipes was pissed during production as this was a total change from the previous movies.
I came to this series a bit late, and watched them when I picked up the budget four pack DVD with the three movies and the tv show pilot. Trinity is one of the first movies I remember really, truly hating. My brain gave up and couldn't process anymore when Dracula walked into that shop and saw the Dracula vibrators. Like, fucking really, Goyer?
Cody i agree 100% Trinity is what i expect from MCU Blade
Blade 2 for the win!! I still get sick enjoyment from my ps2 game as well!!
Wish it was remastered. Once I got the controls down it was on! Wasn't there a Jet Li game Rise 2 Honor that used a similar configuration
Glad you covered this trilogy, damn good job! And damn, I need that destroy all vampires shirt!
Well...at least there were some quotes from Blade that got a chuckle out of me
For example, "Kill you? Motherfucker, I'll kill you!" Reminds me of the first...and of course, the most unforgettable quote by Blade that's still badass imo, and that is, "I was born ready, motherfucker."
Other than that, it was a boring and disappointing movie. Sure, it had some good moments, but it doesn't save it from being generically boring.
Use it
I was like 11 years old when blade trinity came out. Sole reason being I used to love Van Wilder and saw he was going to be in it. Probably shouldn’t have been watching either one at the time, but I used to love this movie, definitely a guilty pleasure.
@CodyLeachYT Oh man our thoughts are so on par! One thing i did like was the vampire's using Frosts plan for humans as a food bank tho, I thought it was a nice tie to the first one.
Just out of curiosity, what did you think of the series?
It might be a case like the crow where they keep trying to remake it and something always stops it from happening to the point it just never happens
Great review on all the blade moves. Still my favorite superhero series, wish the third was better
I am in the camp where I want this new MCU Blade movie to get scrapped. The right tone and perfect atmosphere will always be the first two Blade movies and that just something I see MCU negating. Especially since they have been so mediocre as of late.
Despite other people's opinions I like blade trinity. I know and see all the flaws, but blade is a childhood trilogy of mine. So for nostalgic purposes I defend blade trinity. Really enjoyed these reviews Cody. Thanks. Looking forward too the 31 on 31.
I agree. They only put Blade in the title for marketing purposes only. It really did felt like a "Nightstalkers" movie featuring Blade. If it was put out in this way, I probably could had been more open to the film. It just was not a Blade movie. Such a mess. I loved the first 2 tho. I did not get into any sort of Vampires at all until around the Blade and Buffy period.
15:45 That's something Hammer should've heard at some point; in their later Dracula movies with Christopher Lee, they began to crowbar Dracula into other stories, much like what later happened with the Hellraiser movies.
I REALLY hope Ryan Reynolds mentions something Blade-esque in Deadpool 3 (or other installments lol)
Lol I just finished watching this movie and thinking to myself “wow this movie is still awesome lol”. Kinda don’t want to listen to the review but is for the sake of not ruining it for me. I’ll give you the view and interaction brother. Love your videos !
The only thing ruined it for me was the fact that Wesley snipes was barley in it in some shot you can tell it's his stunt double
@@NorthPhilly-zr7xc agreed ! But blade was badass and that’s what matters to me lol. I grew up with these movie and it’s kinda hard to hear criticism of the things I don’t even notice. Then i get conscious of the flaws and ruins it. So while it may be ignorant I just want to keep the memories intact.
@@NorthPhilly-zr7xcthe reason is there was a lot of off camera issues between him, Reynolds, and the director. I think I read something where they had to use the stunt double a lot cause snipes refused to show up to set some days because of fights.
Nobody else can play blade other than snipes. He has the same magic as Christopher reeves as sups and ledger as joker
On the first one, Karen says to frost "go ahead, I've cured myself once I can do it again" so they definitely can be turned again
1. The villains in this movie aren't scary but just weird. Deacon Frost was much more menacing and Nomad was much more a threat to Blade and humanity than any of them in this movie. Dracula was bored and boring. The mini bosses were a joke.
2. Too much time was wasted with the Night Stalkers and their group.
3. Blade was the central theme but never the central character. There's no character growth.
4. The death of Whistler was pointless and had no impact on our emotions or the story.
5. The irreverent Marvel humour.
Dominic Purcell would be a perfect ben grimm/ the thing for the new fantastic 4
He's absolutely perfect as Heatwave in Legends of Tomorrow.
Hey cody are you going to review the van helsing movie next and 30 days of night
Gotta say I love the Dracula look…. But not for Dracula. For a demon or a Hellboy foe that’s be awesome.
This is easily the weakest film in the trilogy… but to me it’s a guilty pleasure. I have fun with how silly it is, and Ryan Reynolds helps it on that one, the dude has the funniest lines in the film. Probably the biggest issue is Dracula himself, who could have been so much better. On the flip side, Wesley is still good for when he’s actually there, and Reynolds and Biel are great, Abigail is a total badass. Honestly, I think it would have worked better as a Nightstalkers spin-off, and a separate film was the third Blade film. But as is, I can’t hate it, but I can admit it’s not the greatness of the first two films.
P. S. I recall someone joking about if Jim Carrey was Dracula in the film. Crazy thing is, I kind of think he would have done better than Purcell, would have at least been more entertaining.
In your opening when you were talking about being a kid and being excited about a movie and then when you watch it and your brain can’t process just how bad it was… that was me with Mortal Kombat Annihilation 😅
The film that killed blade, but I’ll always prefer this over that shorty pg 13 mcu film were getting
You had donnie yen choreography in Blade 2 so this one wasnt gonna hold up with the fight scenes
Hot take. I didn't hate Blade Trinity. I actually like it.
You crack me up, man. Great review. ❤
5:23 That’s wild I ain’t know all that bs went down 🤣
What was the snipes movie where he was constantly running from someone and he ended up falling into a pit with sand at the bottom and he whooped the dudes arse ? 🙏🙏
U.S. Marshals?
I can not wait for you to talk about skinwalkers
Loved the review
27:50 Are you sure you're not confusing this with Daybreakers because I don't recall anywhere in the Blade Trilogy or the short-lived Spike TV show that mentions that rule? Granted, I could be wrong and missed something. Also, even if Karen was at risk of turning again, it would've taken at least a couple of hours before the change starts. Just like how it was the first time with Quinn's bite.
I always loved this installment. Now I'm scared to rewatch it now.
You should have used the Dave Chappelle reveal kid head explodes for the cold open.
I like the movie. I too watched it again recently and you can definitely see the flaws in it. Especially them using Reynolds as a "too many jokes" machine. The writing definitely needed a bit of help. But overall I still think it's a fun movie to chill with on a Saturday. And.....come on......Jessica Biel. 😍 They should have just called up Steven Norrington to do the third movie's directing.
Also, I really don't see Mahershera (SP?) Ali as Blade. I would have gone with Michael B Jordan.
Great review Cody,my biggest problem was actually Parker Posey was the least intimidating villian ever, and I like the actress, also Patton O,and Natcha L characters did absolutely nothing for the film, also good acters wasted
"Blade: Trinity" is inferior to the previous two? No, dude. It's FAR worse.
Will there be a ranking? Although i think yours is obvious: 2,1,3. Mine would be: Blade, Blade 2, Blade Trinity
Pro: This was my introduction to Ryan Reynolds
Cons: Pretty much everything else.
Ryan Reynolds only one who came out on top 😂😂😂😂 i was like Cody as well, i didn’t watch this movie for like 7-8 years then did recently like 2022 & its BAD BAD 😭 Triple H 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Waddup fellow battle rap fan 💀
You forgot to mention Parker Posey as the head vampire. Jeez! She was so wrong for that part.
No love for the Blade TV show? 😀Don't blame you!
Couldn't even get past one episode when it came out
@@CodyLeachYT You didn't miss much, as I recall.
OMFO! I totally forgot it exist and I can tell you know. It is truly forgettable and the first episode told me what I needed to know. It made Blade Trinity look more badass
Wit Sticky Fingaz
This is one of those movies I watch simply because it's the last movie in the trilogy and after the first 2 I still have an itch for more. It's the same with Robocop 3. I know it sucks, but the first 2 leaving me wanting more Robocop so then I watch the third one and after I've had enough lol.
This is the only Blade movie i saw and all i remember from it is “i was born ready, muthafu*ka”. Priceless 👌
Okay, objectively I know this movie is terrible but I still love it. Parker Posey didn't just chew the scenery, she ate it up.
Real talk. Nice tattoos do they mean anything....stupid😂
Never saw this, one of the very few comicbook movies i havent seen, but i have heard tales about "blade trinity" lol
The movie I was looking forward to back in the day and I was in denial how bad it was (while not for years, it was for a few months from theatrical to VHS) was Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.
Not gonna lie, I’m a sucker for this movie. I loved it
🖤 I remember enjoying this one 😆
Ryan Reynolds is the best part of this entire film
Ryan Reynolds is the only part of this entire film because they barely gave anyone else any lines. Of course, I'm exaggerating, but after watching the movie again recently I understood Snipe's complaints.
Honestly, I know the movie isn't good, but I LOVE it just because of Ryan Reynolds one liners. I was belly laughing in the theater during the scene with him being interrogated right before the final act. His nonstop shit talking and funny ass lines had me dying. As much as I know the movie kinda sucks... I will always have a soft spot for it, even if only just because of him. But I agree, it did seem like Westley Snipes really phoned in this performance compared to the first two.
Yep wesley totally did
And the underworld movies too
This is where deadpool was born lol that was def deadpool 😊
So glad I started drinking before being made to remember this film.that said as a Huge deadpool fan you can see the bones of wade Wilson in the scene when Ryan is chain up and starts talking smack to the vampires especially the vampire pomeranian😂
I just ate a lot of garlic, silent but deadly😂 Would u like 2 sign up 4 our Nightstalker decoder ring. Nightstalkers sounds like a bad Saturday morning cartoon
Please do a review on john carpenter's vampires ❤🎉
Love your channel cody! This was a bad sequel. I was disappointed with it. And that duel at the end.....very poor for blade standards.
Wesley Snipes in Blade Trinity felt like he phoned the role in and didn't seem as if he cared. That is the biggest problem with the film. The writing is the second problem with it. I watched it once....it was enough. For me, not even a guilty pleasure. First 2 films of Blade were awesome.
Whistler having a daughter out the blue was stupid 2 me. Whistler whole issue was a vampire deleting his family
I actually enjoyed this movie no it’s not great or near as good as the other 2 but for what it was I liked it!
And just in the middle of this review……..a Mint Mobile ad starring Ryan Reynolds!!
Did you see the blade tv series
Man…. I was in my mid 20s when this movie came out…. Shit I have gotten old
