By the way, most proper names in this anime is in German which have their own meanings that reflect some part of their nature- not only people's names but also places and spells.
As a German, this was really weird once I consciously picked up on that detail. xD In many cases, I actually didn't notice because the pronunciation and context make the words seem entirely different. As an example (watching the dub), I thought that Flamme was called Flamae for the longest time or that Fern was named after the plant, instead of fern = distant.

In a sea of fantasy stories where elves and dwarves don't like each other that much and the main characters usually go on a character arc that involves them bickering until they begrudgingly become friends, it's really refreshing to see how Frieren banters and argues with both Himmel and Heiter but is always uncharacteristically friendly and warm with Eisen both in her flashbacks and in the present. Maybe they already went on that classic "enemies to friends" arc during their quest, but it doesn't seem like it given their personalities and it looks like they just liked each other from the start.
I think Himmel brought out the best of them all, but Heiter also put a flower crown on Eisen in ep 2 and they were frolicking together in the fields, they might just be a really jolly troupe

This usually happens in fantasy because of wars between dwarves and elves. But in this world, the elves are almost extinct, there are no wars between them and probably never have been. There's no room for mutual hatred or mistrust.
Yeah, he's pretty stoic, but his personality is actually quite thoughtful, warm, and kind. He's like Frieren and Fern in that he doesn't really wear his heart on his sleeve and is fairly subdued. I always think what frieren meant by she was used to hearing her master beg for her life was that she only spent a small % of her life with her master compared to probably running into those type of monsters and always using her master as the illusion. She might've gotten more used to that over the 1000 of years after her masters death.

As someone who has watched anime for years I am someone who doesn't much like demon slayer or JJK nowadays. Its overly popular and the writing and characters are generic and basic in writing. I sound like an asshole just saying this and come off as a full on anime elitist type of person but I want people to enjoy anime no matter what yet my internal struggle is because I love Frieren as a series so much and think all of the characters and writing it has is some of the most well done stuff I have seen recently it personally hurts to hear the comparisons to something like demon slayer or jjk knowing that I don't really like those series. it´s probably because they´re both quiet and expressionless, they didn´t have to adjust to each other at all
