      Hello Sarah,
      I guess it has that many screws so it doesn't fall apart while bashing the house to bits 😂

    Worked a treat, thank you! Both the motor and brush didn't spin freely. So I used a combination of a Stanley knife and a spray painters gun cleaning kit. I cleaned the motor and brush, oiled them up with beard trimmer oil and now they spin freely. More hair came from the brush than the actual motor. Thank you!

    I love this DIY style of repair, no annoying music and easy to follow, thank you for that!
    I have an Eufy 11s (slim) and when charging it is just a solid red light. When I send it out to clean, it lasts maybe 15 minutes and just dies on the spot. It does clean well while working.
    Does this indicate it needs a new battery?
    Thank you
    Chad

    • @FixedByDuncan
      @FixedByDuncan  Před 4 lety +1

      Hello Chad,
      Thank you for the kind words, they mean a lot.
      With regards to your Eufy, it would seem that the battery does need replacing.
      You should get around 500 - 600 actual charging cycles from the battery before it starts to deteriorate, they do take a hammering.
      I sometimes run mine twice a day, so they can easily be completely exhausted in a year.
      You could try cleaning the charging base contacts and the contacts on the bottom of the eufy, but if that doesn't help any then a new battery is all that's left to try.
      I hope that helps some, thank you for watching.
      All the best,
      Duncan.

I put it back on the charger and within a few min it is at blue indicating that it is fully charged but then it will just does the same thing.... what could it be or can you point me in the right direction.?

      @FixedByDuncan  Před 3 lety

      Hello Jose,
      I'm glad to hear your 4 year old didn't get hurt.
      With regards to the Eufy, have you tried charging it manually?. Unplug the power adapter from the dock and plug it directly into the Eufy, charge it for at least 5/6 hours.
      If that doesn't work, then the battery is usually at fault.
      Perhaps you could give the Eufy a quick check over to make sure nothing got knocked out of line when it was landed on.
      I hope this is of some help to you.

      When you say the spindle, do you mean the spindle on the motor or the brush bar itself?.

      @@FixedByDuncan Hi Duncan,
      Thank you for your replay.
      Sorry if I confused you :) I meant the spindle on the motor (6:02 minutes)& You said after cleaning it should turn freely, but in my case, your instruction didn't work. The hoover is working around 5-10 minutes and after it starts indication error 4.
      I'm located in Cyprus but have the ability to order from the UK if it will be easier to find this part.

    • @FixedByDuncan
      @FixedByDuncan  Před 4 lety

      Hello Julia,
      I did think you meant that one, but wanted to be sure.
      I have had a look and have managed to find some on eBay, one of them posts worldwide.
      www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Main-Roller-Brush-Motor-For-Eufy-RoboVac-11-11C-Robotic-Vacuums-Cleaner-Parts/254477688764?_trkparms=aid%3D1110001%26algo%3DSPLICE.SIM%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D225113%26meid%3D1b480d13253043739966aebfe03b916a%26pid%3D100010%26rk%3D12%26rkt%3D12%26sd%3D153865486845%26itm%3D254477688764%26pmt%3D0%26noa%3D1%26pg%3D2047675&_trksid=p2047675.c100010.m2109
      They seem to be getting harder to find, as that was the only one that was currently in stock on eBay.
      There are some on ali express, but shipping to Cyprus was over 68 euros.
      I hope that is of some help.

    Hi @Duncan my eufy robovac after a full charge will only run for about 10 minutes before completely shutting down. If I push it back and forth slightly, she comes back on and cleans for another couple of minutes before having to repeat the process. Any suggestions?

      Hello Clay,
      Does your eufy give you any beeps?, and what colour does the light change to when it stops?.
      fccid.io/png.php?id=3424448&page=11
      If you have look at that link, it gives you the error codes and what they could potentially mean.
      My best guess would be the battery pack is exhausted, you could try manually charging your eufy.
      Unplug the charger from the dock and plug it straight into the eufy, charge it for a full day and see if it does the same.
      Please do let me know how you get on, it helps others in diagnosing whats wrong.
      All the best,

      Hello Steve,
      Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, things have been a little difficult here.
      Have you tried turning the robot off using the switch, to see if that resets it?.

    • @FixedByDuncan
      @FixedByDuncan  Před 3 lety +1

      Hello Jacque,
      Thank You for watching.
      Unfortunately it isn't really possible to open the motor housing, not without the risk of damaging it anyway.
      The thing that makes it difficult is removing the pulley/gear from the spindle, maybe if you can heat the gear without heating the spindle it may come free.
      If it does, then you may be able to remove the housing. This will not be easy to do, though.
      The only thing I can think of that might help, is using a very small flame, say from a lighter or match to burn any hair remaining.
      Hair will burn in milliseconds, so you can move the flame across the spindle end where it meets the housing quick enough to burn the hair but without causing damage to the motor. This is entirely at your own risk, though.
      As a last resort you could try and use force to remove the gear, but it will likely do some damage as it is a really tight fit.
      Did you take a look at the follow up video I did to this one?, the link is in the description of this video.
      I hope this helps some,
      All the best,
      Duncan.

      @@FixedByDuncan Thank you! I watched the other video. Thanks for mentioning it since I had not noticed that. I tried using sandpaper again and a flame and it didn’t help any. There are no visible signs of any more hair or debris so if there’s some thing there it must be wedged down in the shaft. I haven’t tried pulling the gear off since I don’t know how to do that. Just to be clear, the spindle does turn when I use two fingers, but it doesn’t spin freely. I can’t even push it with just one finger. I have to use two fingers. It doesn’t seem obstructed though. Your video sounded like it’s supposed to spin freely. Am I understanding that correctly? Or does it need two fingers to turn it? Maybe I just misunderstood. If it’s supposed to spin freely, which means I have a problem, then is it an option to just buy a new motor? Thank you for all your assistance!

    • @FixedByDuncan
      @FixedByDuncan  Před 3 lety

      Hello Jacque,
      The motor should spin freely, but there should also be some resistance felt. Sounds strange, but it will have some magnetic resistance that can be felt when spinning it by hand.
      I guess the only thing to try, is reassembly and a test run. If it works as is, then see how it runs over the long term before buying a new motor.
      The motors were a little difficult to get hold of last time I checked, but that was two years ago.
      Did you put some lubricant, like machine oil or silicone on the spindle where it meets the housing?. That seems to make quite a difference.

      Duncan.

      @@FixedByDuncan Thank you. Yes, I used machine oil. I would say that it spins with resistance. The only way I can describe how much resistance there is, is to say that I can’t spin it with just one finger. It requires two fingers, but it is easy to turn with two fingers. Does that sound like what it’s supposed to be or is that too much resistance? Does yours spin using just one finger or do you need two? Compare that to the spindle on the brush, which is very loose and spins around freely by just flicking it with one finger. I will go ahead and reassemble to test it out. Thank you!

      Hello Ross,
      The motor is getting stuck because hair gets wrapped around the spindle, meaning the brush bar doesn't move or moves very slowly.
      The machine senses that it takes more current to drive the brush bar and so throws the four beep error code.
      It can also be the actual brush bar that is jammed with hair, but this can be checked without disassembling the machine.
      There are two four beep error codes, one with a solid light and one with a flashing light.

      If the battery is new, then there are very few things left to try.
      Have you tried switching the power switch on the side of the Eufy off and on a few times , to see if there is perhaps some corrosion inside the switch?.
      There have been known issues with corrosion inside the switch and also on the circuit board.
      Was the battery from Eufy?, or perhaps a seller on Amazon or Ebay?.
      You should probably check the battery you purchased is functioning correctly.
      If the battery is functioning and holding a charge, then the only thing left to do is disassemble the Eufy and check for corrosion / damage.
      Perhaps clean with some isopropyl alcohol, taking care not to do any damage to the circuit board with static.
      Clean the power switch with contact cleaner.

      I can't vouch for them as I have not purchased them, and I would say the safer bet is Aliexpress but I will leave that up to you.
      I hope I have been of some help,
      All the best,
      Duncan.

      Hello Tony,
      Love the pun.
      They'd be pretty rubbish vacuums if they didn't suck.
      All the best,
      Duncan.
