Solar park opened: 94,000 solar panels on old landfill
Realised in collaboration with the landowner and engineering firm Sweco.
Dozens of gas pipelines
The construction of the PV power station was a particularly complex project, as there are dozens of gas pipelines in the subsoil of the old waste mountain that could not be touched. In addition, the construction had to be done diagonally on the mountain. As a result, every square metre was slightly different.
Almost every part of the construction on which the solar panels rest was custom-designed.
Sustainability challenge
Several options have been explored to make the former landfill more sustainable.
The solar park will play a major role in the sustainability of Breda.
37 megawatt peak
The solar park has a capacity of over 37 megawatt peak and is expected to supply green energy for more than 10,000 households annually. Local residents can benefit directly from this sustainable energy project by purchasing green energy directly.
Power will mainly go to customers in the immediate vicinity of the mountain. Because the closer to the source you take your power, the less you burden the network.
