- In this video we're talking about unique baseball hitting drills with The Baseball Doctor, Josh Cathcart, of Hardball Baseball Academy in Pearland Texas (just south of Houston). Josh shares with us his Top 4 most unique baseball hitting drills that he uses occasionally with his hitters. One thing to keep in mind when watching this video is that not all hitting drills are for every single player. Hitting Drills are meant to help fix specific problems within the baseball swing and not every baseball player has the same swing flaws, nor will every hitting drill work the same for each flaw. Nice drills! Like the balance drill on the tire! I believe would be very effective.Many kids off balance when swinging.with high reps of the drill would cement the muscle memory and then work on the hands and staying through the ball.

Hey Coach Madden Needs so help with my pitching am have many pinches but need help to get on a travel ball team have any tips and by the way thanks for all your help a learn so much from you God bless you and any time to no you throwing 100MPH and to get good spin and the ball I have a question most pitchers have 5 different pinches they throw I have up to 9 is their anything wrong with that and is it bad for the arm?
I’d focus on throwing 2-3 really good pitches vs 9 mediocre pitches. 👊😉 Keep up the great work. 🙌

There’s no way you throw 9 pitches consistently well. I don’t know your age but 8U-11U you should have 3 pitches and they should be extremely efficient.
4 seam, 2 seam and change up. You should be able to throw those accurately and consistently hit a location.
11U and up start developing a breaking ball. Slider or Curve. Pick one and master it (which you’ll never do) but work on it like your life depends on it.
3 pitches for younger guys, 4 pitches from there on up. The best pitchers don’t throw 9 pitches, ever.
The greatest reliever of all time basically threw a single pitch.

Like the hoop drill. Not sure if the fire drill. I’m not a fan of teaching anything that will make a young hitter push thru the ball. It’s such a hard habit to break when they are older.
