First Reading (Amos 7,10-17): In the reading of the Book of Amos, we find the prophet Amos facing opposition and rejection. Amaziah, priest of Bethel, denounces Amos to King Jeroboam, accusing him of conspiracy. Amos, however, remains firm in his prophetic mission, proclaiming the word of God without fear. This passage teaches us about the courage and faithfulness necessary to follow God's will, even in the face of adversity and opposition. Gospel (Matthew 9,1-8): In the Gospel according to Matthew, we witness one of the healing miracles performed by Jesus. Upon returning to his own city, Jesus finds a paralyzed man lying on a bed. With words of compassion and authority, Jesus says to the paralytic: "Take courage, son, your sins are forgiven." This statement provokes murmurs among the scribes, who accuse Jesus of blasphemy. Demonstrating his divine power, Jesus responds: "Which is easier, to say, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say, 'Get up and walk'?" Then he heals the paralytic, who gets up and goes home. This miracle not only reveals Jesus' compassion and healing power, but also highlights his authority to forgive sins.
