I blame the fact they spent the last 4000 years since the last giant war for the Ring, sticking to Medieval grade technology. These guys are like the worse Civ Players ever, because they could have easily used aircraft or drones and had the ring dropped in Mt. Doom using a 3 hour flight for the 1779 miles traveled.
