By measuring button click interactions, you will know whether website visitors are engaged and interested in your offers.
When you track button clicks, don’t forget to also send additional data with them, such as link_url and link_text (if possible).

Bro, you are a savior. Here in Brazil we have a lot of content, but not so much about Tag Manager. Mostly are online courses.
In the end, with this video and some others I was able to save something like $100, that here is a lot of money
Great tutorial! Thank you. One thing that might help those who were in the same situation as me. Using elementor you need to set the ID on the button under advanced & set to "Just Links" for some reason it didn't work with All Elements.

I've a question for you: What if I use the in-built event parameter(E.g. page_location and/or page_referrer instead of using link_text) in GTM? Do I need to create the custom dimension for the same or not?
Does it shows me the page_location and/or page_referrer data in the mentioned event's(cta_click) report card in GA4 ?

Hey Analytics Mania, what do you do if you go to preview & click on the button but, nothing shows up on the left-hand side, so you can't find the relevant variable. I've set up ga4 configure as well as event as all clicks as well as configured all clicks like you showed in the video. I would really appreciate some guidance. Thanks for all your video's :)

Great video, just a quick question, nothing shows up on the summary page. Just the name of the page itself. And on the right side it just says " no hits sent by this container" any ideas why the info is not populating?

If my website has different pages that promote different product and each page has it's own Unique button to that specifc product.
Then I'll need to do this process for each individual button to be able to track which product was clicked on, right?

hey, I have a question. Let's say I have multiple button clicks for various offers leading to outbound clicks. I want to setup a single tag to track them all, and i configure it as such to do so. My question then is, if I use this setting as a conversion in google ads imported from google analytics, will the setting differentiate between my event parameter variables in such a way that my google ads does not count conversions from offers that are not a match for the specific campaign. So if campaign x is promoting affiliate x will this setting not attribute campaign x to affiliate y based on event parameters sent via GTM.

I set up the GTM tag for Add to Cart event 6 months ago, and it appears I did everything correctly. But I can't figure out how to find the data in GA4. I went through your steps (after I make sure I had done everything correct in GTM with the tag and trigger), and then did the steps in Explore, but there is no data. I'm assuming it will take 24 hours to appear. But does that mean only from here on out and not the past 6 months?
Is this the same process for tracking all banners on websites?
What if I want to trail the clicks of a purchase button along with the numeric value of the price of each purchase? Can I summarize all of them in one event?
can this data be sent as a facebook conversion event using the same tag?
Thanks for the video! Just to clarify, for the event to be tracked, I don't actually need to create the event in GA4, right? Once the tag with the trigger and the variable have been configured on Google Tag Manager it will automatically be created and shown in GA4, correct?
Do you have a video that shows how to also display these button clicks in Google Ads? So I know that the person who clicked on my ad clicked one of those buttons? As opposed to those who clicked on it organically.

Can't thank you enough for this man!!! I have a quick question - I created a trigger to capture the CTA button I have on my Landing Page. On opening GA4 on debug view I can see that the trigger is getting fired but I can't trace the custom event that I created in GTM (for example Whitepaper_DownloadButton) on GA4. If I am clicking that button then GA4 should display the number of times this button has been clicked isn't it?? Where can I find it?

My website doesnt show the Click ID, how can I create or add the Click ID as a Variable? or change an existing Click text variable called undefined to a different word?

If click ID is not present, you could ask a developer to add it.
Click url can be a part of the trigger. But it depends on a situation

It works except on mobile, it cannot catch the click event. What can we do for a whatsapp click on a floating button in wordpress on mobile?
In my experience GA 4 registers a doubleclick as two conversions where UA just registers one conversion. Both tags are installed to fire once per event. Is there something I'm missing?
If a conversion happens several times per session, every conversion is counted. "once per event" in GTM means "once per click". Two clicks = two conversions. If you want to limit that, you could select "once per page".
For me it didnt work as the button I use is part of a plugin and it has a unique URL. In addition, I can see the link click, but I cant see the variables menu to click like you did.

Hi there, the thing is I want to analyze the click text and how it affects user behaviour,...
But for that I have to count each click event, I made one parameter called "Count_Number" and the value of that parameter is "1", so each time when trigger fired the value is sent to gtm as "1"
But When I connected GA4 with Data Studio to analyze how many times that specific text was clicked it shows only data 1,0,1,1,1, data...
For example I have two columns one is "Click Text" other is "Count_Number" so the data in the row is presented like
("Buy now", 1)
("inquire now",1)
("Contact us",0)
Tried to change the aggregation also, tried to convert "Count_Number" from "Text" to "Number" Type, Choosen a Lnger Date Range but clicks shows ambiguous data always...IDK why..

Holy Hell, OK! If you get to the point where the firing FAILED and it won't show up in GOOGLE ANALYTICS, its because when you got to Tags > [your event] you will see s pot for the measurement ID. That ID is in your google analytics page Admin> Data Streams> [your website], you should see your measurement ID.
