Making Replicas of a Shrine's wooden guardian dogs [Part4: Hand Finishing]

We are making wooden replicas of komainu (guardian dogs) from the Edo period, which is about 300 years old. After performing a 3D scan of the original sculptures, we repair any damage using 3D sculpting software, and then perform 3D machining using a CNC router. Finally, we finish the work with traditional hand tools.
In this Part 4 video, we show the manual finishing process using blade tools.
Using traditional and cutting-edge digital techniques, we create wooden replicas that looks brand new. By making replicas that can be publicly displayed, the original historical artifacts can be safely stored elsewhere. This also serves as a theft prevention measure.
We provide a replica-making service for wooden sculptures such as cultural assets.
