    Also, you make a great point about the Gospel writers' perspectives. If i was making a point about how they should be understood as embellished, would i be able to create a link to Augustine's acknowledgement that the bible contains 'human phrases'. Thus, in Mark's account that Jesus 'walked on water' could it just be a human phrase as he might not have literally defied laws of physics but it's just a manner of expression that could be best understood by humans.

    Hello, if a question such as "Did Jesus know he was Divine?" came up, could you say that in John 17:5, Jesus states “Now, Father, glorify me in your presence with the glory I had with you before the world began”. Does this show that Jesus know that he was divine because he was aware of the world before its creation and so he knows that he is God as a human? Very vague and probably wrong but I haven't done person of Jesus in a while

    • @IThinkThereforeITeach
      @IThinkThereforeITeach  Před 2 lety +1

      I think that is a really good discussion point for an essay. We can't tell for certain if Jesus knew he was divine but you can use that quote and say 'it possibly suggests' ... :)

    • @IThinkThereforeITeach
      @IThinkThereforeITeach  Před 2 lety +7

      Hi Jacob, I totally understand, revision is tedious but it is only for a short time. Revision needs to start now and the best way of getting going is do a revision timetable e.g what topics you would like to revise which weeks and focus on small chuncks rather than seeing all the topics at once. Start by watching videos, reading class notes or revision posters if created and then find a way to test yourself e.g quizzes, write or speak out loud everything you can remember or answer an exam question. Just reading or watching is passive so won't help retain the info long term, you need to do something with the info. You need to decide which time of day works best for you. E.g I work best on an evening but you might be an early riser. Small chunks at a time will help manage the workload and get you started :)

    if the question of 'jesus christ relationship with god as unique' could you use jesus as a liberator or teacher of wisdom to support his relationship as unique, and how would you do this? thanks

    • @IThinkThereforeITeach
      @IThinkThereforeITeach  Před 2 lety +1

      Relationship with God is about Jesus as Divine vs human with miracles etc but then you could also link in teacher and liberator as Jesus fulfilled prophecies but his teachings also went against tradition and culture maybe inspired through a unique relationship :)

  • @zakkux8867
    @zakkux8867 Před 2 lety +1

    So the question was 'Jesus was only a teacher of wisdom' discuss
    Essentially i said that to say he was only a teacher of wisdom is unreasonable and instead looking at the other interpretations of the role Jesus played is essential when discussing who he was. Basically I done 1 paragraph on Jesus as a teacher, I spoke about his teachings on forgiveness, kindness and love. Used the good Samaritan, Turning the other cheek.
    My second paragraph introduced his miracles and how they can be symbolic of his teachings, I spoke about how when he told Peter to walk on water that could be a metaphor for trusting faith, healing the 'blind' man could be a metaphor for the man not actually being blind but blind to faith and so Jesus enlightened him. Spoke about how Jesus fed the 5000 but that could be symbolic of how he wanted people to share the food. Essentially that Jesus is a teacher of wisdom and also uses his divinity and relationship with God to coincide with it. I used people like Schillebeeckx, C.S. Lewis.
    Final paragraph was essentially how he was a political liberator and the stuff that he done contradicted his own teachings of wisdom such as how he whipped the merchants and tax collectors. But saying he was a political liberator is too much to say basically as he turned down power from satan and knew that his mission was salvation for others.
    My conclusion was basically that Jesus was not only a teacher of wisdom but a teacher of wisdom using his relationship with God to help build his teachings.
    What do you think?
    I probably wrote more but that's all I can remember for now. Mainly AO1 points but I included AO2 points within my essay too

      You would work through his four themes e.g obedience and by discussing the strengths (God) and weaknesses (state) this will develop your line of argument. If Bonhoeffer's themes work then duty to God (which he argues and supports) is more important than state and vice versa :)

    hiya,
    at the point 45.00 in the video, the example of Jesus on a donkey. So is this story symbolising the intense amount of respect Jesus received from others and that he was viewed almost as royalty? Or is it more to symbolise that he went against the norms and was deviant?
    Thank you

    • @IThinkThereforeITeach
      @IThinkThereforeITeach  Před 2 lety

      You could definitely talk about the level of respect shown but it is also about the show of it, how it symbolised two big prophecies and this would have caused a lot of political uproar because don't forget Jesus wasn't royalty so the people in power wouldn't have liked this representation it created:)

    last exam lets go

  • @starfloooooz
    @starfloooooz Před 2 lety +2

    When doing a Person of Jesus essay could you include only two perspectives, i.e. if it asked is the son of God the most coherent approach- would it be fine to centre around the son of God as specified and then just the teacher of Wisdom to suggest maybe why this isn't the case because I find it difficult to balance 3 different perspectives in a convinving way. Also for essay structure would you say my structure is fine- I do an intro summarises what the question is asking and the views and I outline which view I think is superior- I then start with the side I think is weaker and conclude that its beneficial and then I criticise it suggesting why this isn't the case and then I offer a counter for why the weaker argument can be reastablished and then I critice it again and keep doing that cylically until the last 5 minutes to write a conclusion. But I think I should be inserting a paragraph for the side I support and other a criticism for that and then rebuttle it but I am not sure where to implement this paragraph in my structure. Thanks

    • @IThinkThereforeITeach
      @IThinkThereforeITeach  Před 2 lety

      Your structure sounds very good with continuous evaluation. I think it always works to start with what you agree with so maybe that paragraph could go first. As long as everything is linked back to the question and it is a clear to an examiner why certain points are being raised e.g if you bring in wisdom in a divine question that this is necessary to fully explore the divine nature. Hope this makes sense:)

    • @starfloooooz
      @starfloooooz Před 2 lety +2

      @@IThinkThereforeITeach yeah it does thanks for the response, I’ll try starting with my proposition as the opening paragraph next thank you very much- and the other thing is I see what you mean about linking the other aspect to Jesus. If the question was just about his divinity would you be able to just get away with only talking about the son of God view then? And then my other point that I typed poorly is if the question is something like Jesus is best seen as a teacher of wisdom assess when assessing he isn’t best seen as a teacher of wisdom can you only explore one other view or is it best to talk about both him being the son of God and a liberator

    • @IThinkThereforeITeach
      @IThinkThereforeITeach  Před 2 lety

      Thanks Nick, pleased it made sense. If question just on one aspect of Jesus then you can just discuss that area fully if you have plenty to say. The three areas do overlap though so could work in any question e.g his teachings as part of human nature.
      If you get an assess question you could compare to just one other aspect for a full discussion/evaluation that would work well, you wouldn't be expected to compare to both other sections if it didn't work with your line of argument:)
