One of the best things about this channel compared to other good chess channels is that the videos aren’t excessively long most people don’t want to watch a 25+ min breakdown keep up the good work man
I like it too
Thanks very much glad you're enjoying
Correct !
What a beautiful little game this was. And topped with your excellent commentary. Keep 'em coming!
4:56 Every chess player dreams about Fork Town but nobody wants to live there.
I guess it’s pretty hard to make good chess videos… because I’ve seen lots of crappy ones but this dude’s videos are always really good.
Thanks very much!
Thanks for your work mate. Very entertaining feeds the soul
Magnus singing "I've got the power! "
1. b2-b4 is also called the Sokolski opening, after Alexey Sokolski, a Russian master who played this opening very often, quite successful at his level. He wrote a book about it, I have a German translation of it, from 1965. The first game in it is totally crazy, against the unknown Strugatsch, the first moves were 1. b4, e5 2. Bb2, f6 3. e4, the gambit variation.
Magnus set Zhigalko on fire.
Well to a point the last tactic seemed to break him but Magnus could win an endgame like that Blindfolded
Magnus must be the hidden son of alphazero...
Son of Hikaru
actually its the other way around
@@wildchild3862 this one is very good
He's from Stockfish territory;-)
hi james! killing it man
Zhigalko didn't resign, he was flagged.
Why was he flagged
@@artistejiro Because his clock is at 0. Flagged means you lost on time.
NIce vid and I loved that it was only 5 minutes
That was a Great tactic from Magnus capturing with the Rook sacrificing the Queen but than able to get a Check with his Bishop and another Discovered Check moving the Rook to take the Queen that was Fantastic Thanks for the Game James Enjoy your day
I found that tactic at the end, thanks for the game. Magnus also won a great positioning game against Hikaru in Bullet Brawl lately, which was also an exciting game to look for as content for your channel😊
Thanks a lot!
@@epicchess2021 you welcome
Love that word. Miniature. The Mozart you hear.
Ask Midjourney to draw Carlsen wearing a thick bear hide, wig, candles everywhere like they cost nothing, a mysterious letter on his chess table.
Juggling a pawn in his hand. Totally in the tank.
I found the tactic. That means im just as good as Carlsen. YES!!!
When I'm on a demoralizing losing streak, i would watch these amazing games. Not that i can learn things from it, but it inspire me to want to play great again.
Talking about a chess god.
The limo speaks for itself.
At 5:38 I briefly thought that Nxe5, threatening Nf7+ then Rg7++ was a spectacular way to win. Unfortunately, Qxf1+;Kxf1 fxg4+ ruined my plan.
James likes to lift the kilt - not that there’s anything wrong with that 😳🤣👏
haha
Pffff... seriously, at this stage, just ask him to marry you
Magnus = views.
Your favorite Indian GM = Not views.
😅
@@ParleLeVuyour opinion maybe I love watching Gukesh Pragg Alireza Fabiano Wei Yi Hikaru even Nordibek Rapport etc etc your world might revolve around Magnus mines doesn’t
haha tbf I am defo looking for some new content that people will enjoy just really struggle for other players that ppl want to see. I am looking forward to the candidates coming soon though. Also, I did actually propose but Magnus said no
@@epicchess2021 haha I'm sorry to hear it, maybe 100 more videos and he'll finally feel ready 😜
b4. It should be renamed the "Agadmator-opening", just saying.
What about Ng5 for a winning move? It's queen or forced mate with the rook, isn't it?
I think then you just win white queen tho and if rook takes h7 maybe rook f7
Novice here. Why at 5:33 aren’t there other options to preserve the black queen, in retreat, etc?
The black king is in check from the bishop, so it has to either move or have that diagonal blocked by a piece. The queen can't move, so either way, as the queen is attacked by the rook, it is being lost
the end isn't really clear. black has some dangerous threats
oh yeah I mean mainly 3 pawns down but yeah could have gone deeper apolgies!
Has someone ever told you that you look a little bit like Alexey Navalny, at least before he was imprisoned?
No it’s a first haha
Is this still a sacrifice? He won it back right away...
agreed it is a 'sham' one: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queen_sacrifice
What about his defeat to 10yo Faustino Oro?
you mean the game that was covered in the video before this?
Magnus sacrificing his queen is becoming something of a banality.
Yeah boring, need better lol
real chimp.
I mean champ
Good thing Magnus's opponent wasn't 13, LOL!
Ben Fiengold likes to say a lot of Paul Morphy games were played against Rufus and Dufus...
Ben is sceptical, the insinuation is that these games (Paul Morphy) were staged but after watching Magnus' opponents I'm inclined to believe that Morphy's opponents were real and real bad at chess...
My 7 year old can play better than some of Magnus' opponents...
I like his analysis but his VOICE !!!!! I am sure some just love it but it ANNOYS the hell out of me.
Haha fair enough sorry to hear that
