The Brit with the extended basement under his apartment actually made a cool discovery. That’s an old air raid shelter probably used during the Blitz in WW2. That’s why it has concrete and brick beds and benches for sitting. That’s it was probably used.
That's what I'm saying
And like others have said, some cleaning and lights and boom! Cool little area. Considering it's almost as big as his apartment (which was already real cheap), probably one of the better possible discoveries

Most likely an old WW2 Bunker. They were meant to be outside or nearby every house when cities were being bombed.

The English apartment basement could easily have been a war Bunker
If I remember correctly I think the story for this was it was a house built on top of another house. Its sounds kind of weird but its surprisingly more common than you would expect in old cities like London that have been built up and rebuilt over thousands of years.
I could be wrong about this, but I remember looking into the phoneme a year or two ago and I think I came across this video through that
@@josuebartley7272 sounds about right... The house I live in was built by my family in 1902, the basement is really weird sections of old stone walls and floors, floors actually made from beer bottle tops and newer concrete... It's all different levels, little crawl spaces, staircases that should lead up or down or outside... But actually lead no where 😂 it's a weird mess lol
It's a bomb shelter. Nothing to it.
@@amristar736 woah you're so wise bro
@Caleb OKAY I live i Vienna Austria and all the buildings in the central district are connected through underground tunnels, some lead to bomb shelters and others even to the catacombs under the big churches. I once helped a friend deposit their bike in one of the tunnels which is being used as a storage space, was real creepy and like a labyrinth.
That poor alligator 20 years of living in such a small space that just breaks my heart I've worked with all kinds of animals amd they don't belong in a place like that I'm happy that after all those years it finally got to be in a much much better and more appropriate home💜
There's a city in the middle east that keeps crocodiles in a well like cage in every home. They believe they're good luck to keep them in the center of the house.
@@CyberMachineoh really.. thats so sad IMO I don't believe they belong in cages for any reason they belong in their own homes they should just go to where the alligators live and worship them that way and it would be humane ya no 😊
@@CyberMachineI think you mean Aswan village in Egypt. They don't keep live crocodiles in most homes. There are some people there who keep them, mostly as tourist attractions, but mostly people just keep images of them in their homes, because they're considered good luck.
@@jill8235 for the most part, that is what people do. Some people do keep them in captivity, but it's not nearly as common as the commenter suggested.

I’m so glad in England it’s unique to have a basement, I’ve lived in my house eight years and never once been in the attic, luckily we have no dead bodies there council people have been in it recently. But it was a worry😂
Our attic
My grandma in Wichita, KS had a basement that was blocked off. After she passed away, family members found photos of peoples faces cut out and placed in jars with spices and a liquid.

I would renovate the shit out of that under floor space and make it a secret private space.
same would be great shelter if the U.S ever went to war on home soil
Right?! It just looks "scary" because there are no lights and it's a bit dirty/sketchy, but renovated you can do stuff you could've done with any floor that's not underground. Stupid to let that space go to waste. It's not that discreet if you would want to hide from something in the house though. I guess you could lock it, but you'll still have to find a way to hide that door.
Right? Like that chic in NYC who found a whole other apartment behind her bathroom mirror and instead of keeping quiet and having a huge apt. for the price of a small one bedroom, she posts it on the Internet.
Make a bunker
@@annabanana4699 hi, I agree completely. I saw that video and I was like why, why, why. Plus I've seen others that own their home and find cool secret rooms and I just don't understand why all these people tell everybody. That girl you mentioned just ended up with her landlord making more money and she won't get any kind of thanks. I could just see her needing to ask to pay like $100 of her rent in a couple weeks or with next rent and being told no or if told okay they end up owing big late fees. Totally different subject, but one reason I am cynical about this is because of that lady that donated her kidney to save her boss. Then afterwards he fired her!

@@willpomeroy7711 wow, please someone take this person and cage them up and only feed one type of food for the rest of your life and most importantly without any light or good air to breathe 😀
England and Scotland have tons of those brickwork/dungeon spaces beneath modern buildings--in Edinburgh, they were used as underground travel/passageways sometimes, but a lot of the ones I've seen in London were simply used for storage of goods you wanted to keep cool or out-of-sight (liquor storage maybe?). It's not that they couldn't be repurposed for 'dark usages' but it's basically just a centuries-old crawlspace/storage area in most cases.
The story of the man who found his father's skeleton in the basement is very tragic.:-(That poor alligator.:-O:-(
I just love how the police were "not interested" in the bag with burglar clothes & weapons found under the house. It's possible they could have solved some cold cases in that town. They could have run DNA tests on the masks and glove. Lazy police.
That story feels fake.
Lazy af. What if that was part of a cold case? Police legit get paid too much to do absolutely nothing.
@@manabluerose Making negative generalizations about thousands of highly specialized workers around the world is generally a bad idea.

"Ancient burial ground that is up to 170 years old..."
What??? That's not even *remotely close* to what can be categorized as ancient.
That's pretty ancient for American history
@@johndasalty111 No it's not. The continent existed and was populated long before a-hole Columbus and European colonization. Besides, "ancient" is absolutely the wrong word to use to describe a burial site that's only 170 years old.
@@ladygodieva6298I am aware of this. It's called a joke. Chill out it's not even that important it's just one word. They probably wanted to emphasise how old it was and ancient was the only word they could think of.
They said it that way because that's how every movie ever describes it.
If it says ancient it has to be atleast 800 years old and not 170 years old lol in few years they would call their house as ancient house
For anyone curious about the torpedo one, it actually isn’t a torpedo. It’s the exact type and model of the rocket loaded into the M1A1 Bazooka rocket launcher, an American made rocket launcher used commonly in WW2. It was made for Anti-Tank purposes. So, most likely an army vet lived here previously and kept it as a souvenir? I’m not really too sure, as buying a live one of these is next to impossible these days, and it’s still quite unlikely that someone would keep a LIVE rocket.
My grandparents and my mother grew up in a house that was built on top of a cemetery in the mid 1900s. They both have told me numerous paranormal stories, unexplained noises and phenomena going on within the house. Sometimes the paranormal activity was even aggressive, and they'd hear screaming and they would hear banging, things getting knocked over, all kinds of things you'd think would only happen in a ghost movie. Apparently when I was young, I would talk to things that weren't there too.
I remember seeing some of the tombstones laying around the outside of the house. Why on top of a cemetery, why my grandparents would buy the house, whether or not the stories were real, make believe, maybe just their minds were playing tricks on them because they knew a bunch of dead bodies were underneath them? I don't know. I just don't understand why I was the only person to stay in the house without any kind of paranormal experience when the rest of my family did, all throughout their lives living there
3:47 is the only thing even close to disturbing out of all of these. I feel bad for the alligator.
So finding your missing father's bones in your basement years after he went missing then putting two and two together and realizing your own mother was likely responsible for his disappearance isn't disturbing?
@@artisanofmonkey881 That's more shocking and angering than disturbing to me.
Although I agree that keeping an alligator in captivity in such conditions under your house is disturbing, they only have reptilian brains and do no not actually have any emotions, so it was probably just chilling enjoying free food. But yeah its messed up don't get me wrong, its still an animal and deserves better conditions at least. But imo finding the bones is way more disturbing.
@@artisanofmonkey881 Disturbing perhaps. Surprising no.

That dungeon in the basement of that one house is both awesome and terrifying at the same time. Can't figure out whether or not I have my very own fallout shelter or an abandoned torture chamber right under my living room couch
The dungeon looking basement under the apartment in England is very common here in England. The raised seat looking brick area is to prevent rain water or floods getting into the heating system or coal for fires. Nothing spooky about the basement 😂

When I was a kid, my grandfather on my mom's side told me stories of a monster in the part of the basement where the water heater is located. One day in what I think was 2002, when I was 9, Granddad had the door open and I looked and saw some bipedal creature running around in the darkness. I got a glimpse of what appeared to be the dark outline of a humanoid with what appeared to be hair shaped like that of Chuckie Finster from Rugrats. Granddad saw it too. I would continue to visit afterwards, but I never saw that creature again. Due to Granddad's death in 2013, I am now the only living witness, and nobody in my family believes me. The house is owned by a preacher now after Grandmom sold it in 2014, and I have no clue if the new occupants have seen it

8:56 when i was 8 years old, i went with my family to the french town wissant, to the opal coast, where a lot of wars had been fought. there were also a lot of bunkers and stuff. so we were playing in the sand and digging a big hole with these french kids that we met, when we hit something metal. we dug it out and it appeared to be an active mortar shell. we went to our parents to show it, when they immediately called the police, who then called a bomb squad. the whole beach public was now aware of the situation and everyone began to back up. the bomb squad came and confirmed it was still active, but they just grabbed it out of the sand and walked trough the crowd with it, to their van, so i guess it wasn't that big of a threat. later that day we also found a lot of pieces of grenade shells and bullet casings, so i guess discovering a live bomb was something quite casual for the bomb squad of wissant.
jesus christ, imagine being your age and not knowing what it was and it accidentally went off, I can’t imagine how terrifying that is
7:15 was probably a second world war bomb shelter. Lots of places over here had them installed during the blitz

Just found this channel and honestly, Subscribed for life. Your content is so good.
With the torpedo on the last one, it would be cool if once it was disarmed, the homeowners decide to turn it into a decoration. It would make for a interesting conversation starter
Am I the only one that would be psyched if I moved into a place and found out there was a big labyrinthion dungeon underneath a trapdoor?
At 6.30 this is a typical 18th century 'keeping' cellar. Perishable food could be stored down there because it was so cold. Also coal and ice could be stored. I had one in a house I once owned in Yorkshire. One of the little rooms had been used to store meat hanging from hooks still in the ceiling.
Hey man I subscribed not too long ago. I love your stuff already! Great narration and I enjoy the proof of story through videos in your posts such as the ones in your newest video if that makes sense? 😀 keep making videos please.
That's insane!!! The Jefferson, Wisconsin one is about 20 mins from my home town!!!
3:52 seems fishy to me. I wonder if the owner of the house was some kind of serial killer and he kept the alligator in his basement to eat dead bodies to get rid of evidence. If he really wanted to get rid of the mouse problem he should have gotten a few cats to take care it.😐
I'm guessing the apartment based in England may have been built on a WWII era bomb shelter. Personally, this makes sense considering they had to worry about Air Raids and the like during the time. And honestly, it's the only explanation I can think of that doesn't have Sinister undertones.
A college student...living in a dorm...scary! 🙄
Now I'm wondering how many basements have bodies buried there...😐
See, I’ve always had a fear of basements since I was a kid so this is a clear example on why I won’t get a house at all.
Me too old houses and old basements have always creeped me out my whole life and I'm in my fifties I've just never liked old basements. You can have a house but just have a have a new house built that's safe way to go that's why I just like new houses just build a new house and you know all about it. You know there's nothing to worry about if the history begins with you.
@@sherylmohn6334 I totally agree with you, I don’t like houses that were first built in the 70s and that have a lot a history in it, I also don’t like houses where people have died in it at all cause I’m super paranoid and I’ll think somethings there when it ain’t
yeah i want like a newly built condo (without a basement) when i can get one
@@sprinkIes I’d get that to, don’t do basements or attics it’s always been a child hood fear of mine and my parents making these scary stories about what happened to it before we lived in there wasn’t helping it at all.
