RE: Wearing merch on stage. Jason Newstead wore a Metallica shirt on stage all the time, especially that iconic 'Sad But True' shirt. And I believe that shirt outsold all of the others by a considerable margin, and I have to imagine Jason wearing it onstage had something to do with it.
