This is an ultimate wisdom of course.... but many people don't realize that the state that Majaraj is talking about, is the end of life as we know it... it is the state of deep sleep while awake, state of "death" while being alive... the anxiety and fear will dissapear, but the world will also....I bet the majority of people are not ready for this...

The awareness of that IAM, Is prior to the awareness of what I am or who I am. This is the experience of being aware of being aware, which is beyond identity, the heart of the Absolute three in one: perceiver, perceiving and perceived are one.
I am that which knows that I am=I am that I am

As long as I say "I can understand" or "I have got it", I am in the realm of mind. And as long as I am in realm of mind, it's back to square one. Only and only when I "experience" it, then only I am "there"..

Shortly before his physical death, Nisargadatta remarked that someday his teachings on the nature of spiritual enlightenment and truth realization would be understood scientifically. Thanks to recent developments in modern physics, that day is now. Interesting...
I wonder... which is more effective?
To meditate upon “I Am”... or to go the other way, and meditate upon “Who Am I?”, as Bhagavan prescribes?

    • @joyfulgrower6514
      @joyfulgrower6514 Před 5 lety +2

      james mack
      Indeed :)
      You speak wisdom 😇 (bows)
But that was not the actual point. 😉
      The point...
Is that Bhagavan insists that the “who Am I”? Inquiry, while equally effective, leading to the same goal as meditating upon “I am Brahman”, or “I am”,
Ramana always insisted, that the inquiry “Who Am I?”, with attention paid to sensation of self... is a faster, more direct route than any other method/path, especially when taught in silence. And reality supported this, as MANY folk slipped into realization of self, just by making EYE CONTACT with him, or sitting silently before him.
Indeed, he spoke highly of surrender as an effective path to rid the sense of self that attaches to ego.. but again... he always insisted that it was slower, much less direct of a path than going straight to the source of the sensation and thought, “I am...” for the thought “I am...” is a lie.
For it is the mind which thinks it. And the mind... IS NOT “I am”.
And so, such meditations are only useful so long as one can SEE this, and feel the false sensation of the mind saying “I am”.
And so, the “I am Brahman” meditation is effective and good :)
Its just that Bhagavan insisted it was not as direct, not as fast (for those who are of a certain advancement, and nature, who are ABLE to accomplish it... Bhagavan ONLY spoke of and supported the paths of 1)surrender,
      2)meditation upon “I am”...,
      3) the path of doing good works without a sensation of “doership”,
ONLY if the seeker could not understand or accomplish direct realization of self through self inquiry.
      This is my point 😇
Before spending hours, days, months and years, going the looooooooong way up the mountain, why not FIRST, see if one is capable of the shorter, more direct path.
      See?
There are many paths to the same end.
There are Christians who have fully realized the Self through sacrifice of the ego to God.
There are Catholics and even Muslims, who have successfully walked the same path of surrender.
There are Catholics like Mother Theresa, and Buddhists galore, who have succeeded by walking the path of good works done without a sense of doership, as well as the path of surrender.
And there are many realized ones who took the direct path that Bhagavan first tried teaching all who came to him... before advising a path of surrender or selfless good works or the path of meditation upon “I am”.
      And so?
There is no “best” path. For while I may feel that self inquiry is superior, having worked for me IMMEDIATELY, to help “out” the ego and begin its annihilation.
Indeed... it easy to feel the ego is gone when one is experiencing realization of self.
Yet... there is a difference between such temporary exposure to Self... and full, true, ego death and compete enlightenment.
      And so?
Self inquiry is superior... but only from my own ego’s POV. Only for my “personality” and others like me.
To those who cannot understand or accomplish it? It is useless. If such a one understands and can accomplish mediation upon “I am”, or perhaps the path of surrender, then THAT path is best for THEIR personality and ego... for such had to be dealt with first, no matter the path.
If a certain nature does not allow for the easy “doing of good works without feeling one is the doer”, then THAT path is inferior for THEM.
But indeed... there is only ONE awareness that we all exist as.
There is only ONE God, of which we are all an infinite part of.
There is only ONE eternity... only ONE moment... the eternal “now”.
There is no “this path is better, that path is worse”, except as it applies to the seeming individuals (for individuality is an illusion) nature.
For some... a certain path may be all but impossible for them to walk, due to their egos current nature.
And so, it is good to know of, and equally accept, all such paths as can lead to waking up to ones true self.
Indeed... it does not mater what one THINKS.
It matters, what ones sensation of self IS.
Is it of the body? The mind? The feelings?
Or is the sensation of Self, shifted to one’s true self, the conscious awareness?
This is the question of infinite value, indeed 😇🙏🏻❤️

Ramana himself suggested to first ask who am i, then once one has a sense of i am, to proceed with that. NM simply starts at that second stage of Ramana’s approach. See David Godman’s remarks on the topic on his channel.

I am is pure consciousness, i am is pure awareness. Everyone has access to it it is actually all there is. You are not the body you dont tell ur heart to beat or blood to pump. You are not your mind as you can observe your thoughts therefor you are the observer of thoughts and not the thoughts themselves. So what is the observer? Pure consciousness before thoughts and sensations. Pure awareness (I am)

    • @mikezubia8161

after attaing pure consciousnes there is a higher state, he says the only real state it's not really a state, its boundless but that's a description for the mind. the state of supreme being. I was looking for a mantra for meditation found him and his Mantra I am, tried It and was confused too. He actually says in one of his talks when you're seeking, cling to the I am consciousness. after you attain the state of pure consciousness eventually that leads to supreme being which is also the witness from what I understand. He said Consciousness is of this world Supreme Being is Beyond

It’s the ‘you’ in your head, behind your eyes. It’s the ‘I think’. ‘I am thinking this thought’. That is the false ‘I am’ that Maharaj wants you to concentrate on. How long before it disappears?

  • @TommyEfreeti
    @TommyEfreeti Před 9 měsíci +1

Try to stabilize in the primary concept ‘I am’ in order to lose that and be free from all other concepts, in understating the unreality of the ‘I am’ you are totally free.
