Rowena Wise is a Melbourne/Naarm-based artist whose ruminations on love, alienation, and self-empowerment are fast catching attention. Described by CLASH as “carefully etched indie folk” after having teased a few brilliant singles, she’s finally released her stunning new album, Senseless Acts of Beauty.
Hailing from the Western Australian surf town of Margaret River, Rowena Wise’s musical journey began at a young age. Together with her mother (a folk musician from Chicago) and father (a luthier who builds the custom guitars she plays today), they performed as a family band throughout her youth, playing folk festivals all over. Now, grown up and living on the opposite coast in Melbourne, Rowena is on the precipice of something exciting of her own.
“Indifferent is about letting go of someone, holding space for pain with the knowledge that one day my wounds will heal. The song was born from a deep chasm of heartache, but it’s about honouring my capacity to feel free despite feeling alone. It’s about feeling the pain before moving on. Sometimes the healing process needs that.
I wrote it after a phone call that changed my life. I was in Tasmania on tour, and my long term partner and I split up over the phone. I was standing alone under the stars in a city where I knew nobody, and I felt completely alone. Yet I felt so free. I got over my fear of taking that first breath of freedom after a tumultuous relationship.”

I'd probably change "week" to "(another) decade", but that was one spot on comment... that last part especially.
Maybe I'd change "moment" too though, and say for some hours or days, depending on what you're forced to remember or face/endure instead each time. But that's what life feels like in the end, a moment, or a string of moments, I guess. Indeed, nothing is for granted, better not forget to enjoy as much music/art as possible, after facing each bad or boring moment. Glad CZcams still helps with that.

I subscribed to your channel after 5 seconds of listening to this song. That is the tune and message I really need now as a new mother. First months of baby's life are challenging and sometimes it seems there are no other things except long nighttime breastfeeding or soothing our daughter. But when I discover songs like this early in the morning I remember that it is just a period, life is bigger and still full of new interesting things ahead. Together with our growing daughter! I can kind of relate to your thought and feelings. I was born in Saga, Japan but most of my life my family and I lived overseas. Rowena’s songs bring back lots of innocent and happy childhood days of my life.

Great song! It has a nostalgic feel to it and is a slow burn, yet despite it being those things it has a decent drive forward having more uptempo feel to it than you'd expect. This is not easy to achieve, this is great writing.
