    Pretty smart design using the same harness for two bags. Good alternative to either a packable daybag or the 'piggy back' approach. Idk how I feel about the accessories though, and the execution is a bit flawed at places? I'd rather see a strong focus on just building a 1-2 bag approach.

      It's hard to design accessories that work for everyone, I agree they should focus on pack system. Let people use their own accessories, or purchased as add-ons instead of included.

      Hey, designer and owner-of-the-brand here: We know we can't please everyone every time, and some experienced travelers have accessories that they love and will want to transfer to any new carry system, but we were working to create a whole stand-alone system, and give someone one complete thing so nothing else was needed. Our laptop sleeve IS small, and really designed for a 'traveler's laptop' - a 13" - and very specifically designed to be removed from the Day Pack so that if you AREN'T carrying one, you can use that extra volume. In the toiletries dept, again it's hard to please everyone - some people love multiple org spots in the toilet, some just want a 'bucket' style, so we opted for the minimalist approach. Thanks for checking out the Journey and listening to the expert at One Bag Travels. Let me know if you have any questions.

    Cool video. Thanks for the review. I definitely like the idea of a pack that can be broken down into a day pack when you are to your destination. I have the Osprey Ozone Duplex 65 that I bought for much this same reason. That pack is a little bigger and I found that it was never quite as "quick" as I really wanted it to be with the duffle spent most of the time just being carried separately.

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  Před 4 lety +1

      Did you carry it separately because it was a pain to connect, or because it was too big when carried together? Do you connect them at airports, or do you use the duffel as your personal item?

    • @spydre8
      @spydre8 Před 3 lety +1

      @@OneBagTravels The idea with that one is that the duffle is sized to fit in an overhead bin and the backpack can then go under the seat. Ideally, it would be easy to get off a plane and then connect them together and not have to worry about carrying two items. I just found that I just didn't stop to connect them much. It's not a bad system, and once I end up flying a bit more I will probably running it again and maybe getting a bit more familiar with the connections.

      @@spydre8 Yeah I can see that, you don't have much time (or space) to deal with connecting a pack on an airplane.

    The Osprey duplex is similar, but at 65 litres.

    Good overview for everyone and I'd really like to own this pack but the lack of 15 inch compatibility is a killer and overall the whole weight is a bit too much for the airlines I'd take it on. I love this concept though and hope it succeeds.

      Hey - designer and brand here - you're right about the 15" laptop not fitting well in the laptop sleeve. We made the hard call to only fit smaller laptops, figuring experienced travelers wouldn't be hauling bigger screens. Of course, if one wanted, a bigger laptop could go in the travel pack portion without a hitch - it just wouldn't fit in the included laptop sleeve.
      Have to ask though - are you saying that the 3.75lb of the whole system is too heavy? What are you packing in now and how much does it weigh? And not that you should change, but if you're counting ounces, shouldn't you consider a smaller laptop?

      A 15" laptop fits in the pack, just not in the included sleeve.

    30L is just too small. 40L is what's needed (for me) as a 1 bag travel bag.

      Was about to say the same, 30l is too small for this idea to work.

      30 is small but it can be done. I used to carry 45L backpack when I started, now I'm down to 30-35 depending on the trip.

      Hey! Designer and owner-of-brand here. It's totally our fault, as Geoff got the numbers off our site, but the Journey is actually a touch over 35 Liters, with the Day pack being about 13.5L and the travel pack being 22L. We've found that the Travel Pack portion, with the soft sides, easily holds what an experienced traveler would take with - unless there's some special non-typical gear. Typical pack out: 2 pairs of pants, 5 shirts, plus underwear, socks, sweater, and a pair of shoes. Do you have other things you'd be carrying? Thanks for checking out the Journey and the expert at One Bag Travels.

    Question: Do you know if the fanny bag or the passport pocket have RFID blocking?

    • @OneBagTravels
      @OneBagTravels  Před 3 lety +1

      Nope! I don't think RFID is really necessary these days, and if you do want it you can always get a RFID wallet or sleeve for your passport/cards.
