Deep chat was so refreshing…and so relatable. I think we hit our mid-thirties and we realise we are EXHAUSTED. We tie so much of our identity to our jobs and I know for me, I’m like how much longer do I need to do this and is this actually meaningful…?

Victoria you’re so lovely. I enjoy watching your content. I feel as if I know you through your videos.
The meaning of life is to love one another and to enjoy one another. I believe in God and family. When you spend time doing for others and sharing with your family, you will feel fulfilled. Sounds like God is tapping on your shoulder and telling you he is the meaning of life.

Hi Vic! Nothing wrong with reinventing yourself 😊. Doesn’t need to be stressful. I’ve uprooted everything and moved to Costa Rica with a five month old baby because I needed to be closer to the ocean. Then 5 years later when my girl was ready to start school I did it again and moved to New York City. You can live this one life we have ANYWAY YOU WANT. There are no rules but the ones we put on ourselves. Girl, you are free ❤❤❤❤❤

Vic, I am a Life Coach and a Healer and I'll tell you one thing from my decade long practice- what you're experiencing is the most natural progression to the next big chapter of your life. It's the chaos before the calm. When we love our careers too much, we centre our life around it and for the longest time it drives us and sparks a ton of joy in us. Once that's done and dusted, it's time for us to move forward to another chapter which is finding balance because we now have the means to find balance. So that's the phase you're in. I can feel you sister because that's the phase I'm in too. Love your deep chats Victoria - always remember ref slowing down & acquiring more balance in your life does not have to be to the detriment of your career. When we are young & building a career we do think I have to work work work, take all opportunities & never say no to anything. This is true to an extent, but really we get older, wiser & realise we can have much more in our lives other than work & still have our careers. You & Alex are obvs very successful & as Ihave commented before under your vlogs the fact that your oldest friends remain v. much in your lives says alot about you both. What a couple I say!!

I completely understand your feelings and I agree to an extent that life is about enjoyment.
As I get older, I find myself also feeling a strong desire to help others. I realised I’m so immensely privileged and there are people in my own community, or far away in other countries, really struggling.
I’ve found that this kind of hard work satisfies both my mind and soul.
I know you already do a lot for your community and you’re not one to boast about the charity work you do. My recommendation is to maybe try a hands-on service type just every so often and see if that adds anything to your life and helps nourish your soul too.
It's just something I've found a lot of reward in in terms of quality of life.
Anyway, you're always such a pleasure to watch and I hope you find what you need soon💛💛

@@VictoriaMagrath I've found that this is THE question, and I think it's why a lot of women end up having children. As a woman who held steadfast to my conviction that kids aren't a part of my journey, and the trappings of typical life hold less and less meaningfulness to my soul with each passing day, I've begun to realize that utter fulfillment can only come from Within. Easier said than done, oh how I know. Lean in to the self-reflection that's bubbling up inside you, practice just sitting with the discomfort of empty moments and I promise you'll find that the discomfort gradually fades away until you become content to just BE, without all the doing. It's in that quiet, that stillness, where you'll start to find glimmers of lasting fulfillment. The inner urging to be near the sea is a sign you're heading in the right direction, I've always found it to be a carrier of peace.

@@VictoriaMagrathI found utter fulfilment is something you’d constantly need to be working on anyway, we are only human, our emotions change day to day. Allowing yourself some grace, time to stop and reflect is important, however, is very much a luxury in the current work/life environment. Helping others, searching and hopefully finding God and faith and leaning into it for the answers, being kind are all the things that should bring a feeling of peace ❤ however, perhaps I’m misunderstanding what fulfilment means for you, must be different for all. It does seem though that a lot of us are simply searching to escape the constant anxiety and find peace and balance in our daily lives

It's the dreaded big birthday funk! I've been there, for sure, I remember 29 being particularly hard - I just feel a lot of pressure to be more, do more, and I get really self-critical and dissatisfied with myself which also leads me to feel like I need to rethink myself entirely as a person... It's rough. I think some of the self-reflection can be useful, but mostly I think it's useless, baseless pressure that keeps me from enjoying me.

  • @Frusshan40
    @Frusshan40 Před měsícem +2

I don’t think you’re in a funk, you’re just experiencing the ebbs and flows of life. It’s wonderful to think about the future but the future only exists in your mind. All you have is the present. Observe your thoughts, don’t judge them, don’t be tricked into thinking your thoughts are who you are. If we all based ourselves on our thoughts we’d be in a continual funk, because let’s be honest, most of our thoughts about ourselves are highly negative. Humans are a particular species, our minds can literally make us sick. I LOVE your dream, and forget the rat race. Stay present, be the watcher of your mind, and do what fills your cup because literally all we have is now ❤

100% a reflection we all go through. I have found contentment only comes from within and so this is the place to start, often with a spiritual axis to guide that self enquiry. No civilization has ever not had a tradition/religion/spiritual tendency and in the West we have lost it and in the process lost ourselves. Platonism would be my recommendation of where to begin.

It's natural to have dips in confidence and question life from time to time. Our perception of success changes as we get older, when we're first starting out it's all about impressing people and getting "up the ladder", then life happens and success becomes about finding a balance between career and home and I have no idea what comes next because I'm not there yet 😂 but I know it will change because life changes you, how boring would it be if it didn't xx

Victoria I wrote this poem this week...
    The Open Road
    Sometimes, I yearn to
    quit everything,
turn my life on its head,
    hit the open road,
    meet new faces, places,
    start afresh, renew,
    observe all,
    in hyper focus,
    embrace novelty,
    tune to nature,
    work with my hands,
    turn off mind, brain,
    live silently, simply,
    without distractions,
relish the me of this moment,
    forget
    familial relations,
    expectations,
    preconceptions,
    responsibilities,
    demands, all past
    versions of myself
    give up,
    finally,
    forever,
    always,
    endlessly
    existing, being
    the one who
    does the right thing.

You are in a "funk" , because you are intelligent and have empathy. You are also very self aware and reflective. I think you "nailed it" when you talked about the pressures of being on youtube/insta etc., especially on a woman. You are EXPECTED to do such & such and be a certain way--always. It would be daunting for anyone. Plus you have achieved a lot of your "to do list" in life. You are maturing on top of it all. None of how you are or how you are thinking is a bad thing. Nor does it mean you are in a bad place. Just means that life is not static, and you may be headed in a different direction. As long as you are healthy and surrounded by those you love on that new adventure that is the main thing:). Cut yourself some slack Victoria, you have done well, you will always do well---no matter what you DO. Take some pressure off, you are after all , only HUMAN.

The coast line, the moors, all of it. It's just the most beautiful place. I hope to visit one day. I hope you move there. I think it's a but of paradise. I live on the coast of oregon, the Central Coast. I love it here so much, but Cornwall has so much charm. I love the striped pottery, too. If alex takes pottery lessons, he may make you a couple of coffee mugs.❤❤❤

When you mentioned watermelon and Costa Rica, I had to share - watermelon there tastes 10x better than it does here in the States. I felt like I was lied to my entire life when I tried watermelon in Costa Rica because the flavor was insane! We loved Costa Rica when we went. Saw so many animals including sea turtles, sloths, agoutis, macaws, toucans, and anteaters.

Totally relatable deep chat and I'm 10years older and feel the same lack lustre and annoyed at life as I feel the vast majority of us live to work so we can just survive which im very much sure there's more to life. The feeling you have for Cornwall is exactly the same that I feel when leaving Harris in the outer hebs, truely truely feel alive and so at peace when I'm there. We'll work through it I'm sure love to you both x

Vic, as someone that wants to live many lives and experience everything... my advice to you is just go do it! Move... spend the money, if you fail so what... if it works out, Yay. Its a longing in you that shouldnt be squashed, you'll regret you waited so long. Do it, rent a place in Cornwall for 6months & see what layers of yourself you uncover and fall in love with parts of you you never knew existed. Sending love! xx

Maybe getting comfortable with not knowing .. say to yourself im not sure where i want to live but in due time i’ll know. There’s no right or wrong, instead of going for a drastic change, go to Cornwall more often, follow what you are feeling in the moment, and small changes to your life will have a big change in due time!

Great video, it will all come to you and you will make the right decision for you and your family, I think it’s a normal feeling and that’s what made our family move from England to Florida and get out of the corporate world and run our own lives, we haven’t looked back since 12 years on.
On another note if you are planning on going to Costa Rica you have to stay at Nayara Tented Camp I sent you it when we stayed there last year it’s absolutely amazing! We had our own fire pit, hot spring and whole living room overlooking the volcano! You would absolutely love it. Same level as Jade Mountain.

Please be kind to yourself. No harshness to self. You will have a break through because there isn’t really ever a breakdown ~ just a space created to break through and give space to shake off an old coat that doesn’t feel right to you and give space to consider what will feel right. Being perhaps uncomfortable is showing you that change , even slow change is occurring and it’s a process that you are in control of and you get to decide what fits and when. Xxx YOU haven’t gone through all this , put in all this work to put pressure onto yourself now , perhaps instead your could instil praise and celebrate all that you have done so far , and any change will happen because you will be ready for it. You are very capable, ask those around you , with or without your beautiful make up and clothes, please know this love xxx

Totally empathise with your self doubt! I am 36 and child free by choice. So much of what you said towards the end of the video is EXACTLY what I have been feeling. As strange as this sounds, its nice to hear someone else vocalise this and be comfortable with the uncomfortable-ness (is that a word?!) of it all. Thanks for this. Happy birthday for last week!! 💜💜💜💜

You do make sense, and I’m glad you share this! One path is not a final path, the self doubt is popping up because your ‘true’ path is not being followed atm. I happen to be in the exact same position, going from a director of a commercial company to a complete different carrier and lifestyle. I quitted this job! I can’t even believe I did. But it was not furfilling anymore, I lost energy instead of gaining it, on a daily basis. So I changed my whole life, I had to. Very intriguing, very scary, but so damn rewarding! I’ll find my new path, and have no clue what that is yet 😅 But the reward is in allowing for yourself to make that change ❤ and not for anybody else. Because nobody else will do it for you. Good luck beautiful woman!

I totally get your life chat Victoria, I completely relate to it, in terms of being in a funk. My circs are vey different to yours in terms of upbringing and opportunities in life specifically the working world. I currently do a job which is a means to an end and I find quite difficult at times due to its nature. Not making excuses at all but I have not been able to truly live my dream due to caring responsibilities and feel somewhat that I have missed out and not where I am supposed to be in life, in terms of the real me. I feel like there is not enough lifetime, years, days, hours to do all that we would like to do in life. I try and enjoy life through little creative hobbies and projects but it's not quite the same and when it boils down to it what is true contentment and happiness. Not material goods as so many seem to think but being surrounded by people who love you, sharing the highs and lows and finding joy in things that are meaningful, like a walk on the beach, a great coffee, growing or making things. This applies to you and you and Alex together. I suppose what I am trying to say is that maybe you need to listen to the voice in your head, your inner gut feeling is a true indicator of what is right for you. Maybe not changing things drastically in the immediate future but working towards that change, and if it is to live in Cornwall, it will either satiate that desire or not, in which case maybe its a change up of something else that is required. You are so hardworking and whilst you can and are able to make these changes, I would say do them. From a fellow funker who loves your vlogs, honesty and realness. 🤗😊 xx

Thanks for being so honest Victoria - I think it's relatable and also why I watch your vlogs, because you're a human not some perfect ideal of a human. I think funks come and go and I have found as someone in a child-free relationship there can be an existential question in the mid-thirties that people with children don't get hit with in the same way. No longer young and not yet old. What to do with the best years of your life? Bit jaded from work but without the pressures of providing for children. There isn't a clear well trodden pathway for this stage of life. I hope you can find some peace soon.

I think the fact you're questioning your professional path, lifestyle, etc is completely normal... There are only so many hauls, make up reviews, sponsored trips, bags and clothes anyone who seeks higher purpose in life can take before questioning is this really it?
