    Thanks for posting this! My 2014 EOS was getting problematic starting and stopping. I didn’t have any dielectric grease, so I just cleaned the contacts with alcohol. As you likely disassembled your switch a couple of times, you missed the part where you’re removing the metal spring clips over the “minor” tabs, but I was able to figure it out and successfully complete the disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, and reinstallation. The best part is that there were no extra parts left over, everything fit together as before, and most importantly, it WORKS! Thanks again!

    Great easy fix video, took 15min being careful with the clips and saved $$$.

    Thank you for publishing! My 2014 Jetta sportwagen was difficult to start at best and this fix made it start 1000 times better! Hopefully the button lasts another 100k miles because I wouldn't want to buy a new one!

    Exactly what I needed to see. Got my sportwagen about 6 months ago and the button has been iffy for the last month or so. Thanks for showing the process!

    I needed to do this about a year ago. Im now getting to it and it works like a charm. Pain getting it apart with those 4 clips..but i managed without breaking them. I was quoted $400 to replace it. I spent nothing but 30mins. I already had the grease!

    Fixed my GTI in 15 min, used anti seize since contains aluminum and didn’t have dielectric grease.
    Post like this help everyone, didnt need to buy a new one for 60 dlls or pay a mechanic and get ripped off.
    Thanks brother, god will bless you.

    Thank Man. The mechanic told me to that he needed to disassembly the steering wheel to replace it. With your video I solved the problem in 5 minutes instead of 4 hours that the mechanic quoted me... Thanks.

    Great video! Thank you so much! Just got my first VW, 2013 Eos Lux that was having intermittent issues starting/stopping with the button. I just went ahead and bought the whole start button assembly and can't wait to get it on. Very easy to follow instructions but wish you had demonstrated taking apart and showing what you were talking about.

    Thank you for the video. Do you know if there is another way to start this car other than what the push button? I just don’t want to take it apart and have to start my car and be dead in the water. Thanks.

    WARNING! WARNING!
    The essential core of the video which describes the problem is correct. I had the same problem with my 2014 Jetta TDI sportswagen starting at about the same mileage.
    But his video is too short. It leaves out a lot of boring steps - which are boring only if you've done this before - which you must do to get the switch out intact so you can apply dielectric grease to the contacts. I spent most of my time and effort getting the switch out of the collar without breaking it or the little parts that hold it together. Almost did break them. If RJK had spent a little more time showing how he did that or even if he'd been humble enough to show his mistakes NOT to be laughed at but so someone can learn from them and avoid them it would be a better video.
    Applying dielectric grease and finally figuring out how to get the switch back together and into the steering column was frustrating. But it DOES WORK and I am grateful for the video that at least told me what the problem was.

      Rather than shame the video uploader in a long rant of a response why not use your energy to explain to people what it is YOU had to do to fix the problem and fill in the blanks. If RFK is so shameful for not clarifying every single step than why didn't you take the time to do it

    Hy thanks for your time you are the best.
    I've a quick question please how could it be possible for a 2019 jetta push button start that can start the car with out key insid the vehicle? That's a 2nd time I've face this scenario i ignored the 1st one after doing some research.
    So far i was told 2nd key could be hidden somewhere inside the vehicle.
    like door panels or the chip could be placed near the ignition cylinder? Any ideas or What you guy's all think please ?

    • @rjk778855
      @rjk778855  Před 3 lety +1

      So yes. The only way I could see that being possible is if the second key is in the vehicle. Look under seats or in between seats

  • @lwkyd3v402
    @lwkyd3v402 Před 3 lety +1

    How did you know that was the problem though? My car won’t turn over but the lights turn on so I’m debating if it’s my button or the starter but idk.

    • @rjk778855
      @rjk778855  Před 3 lety

      This was an issue where the start button wouldn’t send the signal to start. You’d press it, but it wouldn’t register it. If your issue sounds similar to that, it might be your issue
