Tottenham Fans Were RIGHT To Want To Lose!

- Tottenham were well beaten by Manchester City which was terrible news for Arteta and Arsenal in their hunt for the title. Guardiola saw his side win 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to 2 goals from Erling Haaland but all the talk has been about Tottenham fans wanting their own side to lose…

Do you think Tottenham fans were correct to want to lose?
No such a fucking loser mentallity. There is nothing more dreadful then watching the same team winning the title year after year after year.
No they’re eejits
Absolutely. They have Sheffield united next which means it's unlikely that they will lose Europa League. Spurs would rather miss out on champions League then hand the league to arsenal
Yes!
I 100% agree with Spurs fans.
I remember in 2019 when both clubs were in european finals most arsenal fans said they would rather lose the europa league if it meant spurs loses the champions league as well. The entire point of football is being more successful than your rivals. And if losing a game meant your rivals won't win a trophy then so be it.
Rory is 100% on the ball with this take , coys
Rory loves this tribalism haha
Loser mentality. Ange deserves better.
Footy is not footy without it. In England and Scotland anyway.,
They didn't think about champions league in their last 5 games when they were playing rubbish and Ange was playing Skipp and Emerson Royale at left back, but when it's against city and with the potential of handing their biggest rivals their first league title in 20 YEARS, it's now that Ange wants to turn up and play for CL football??
Hard disagree. I'm all for beef but anyone with a football brain cannot criticise a manager who says he goes to a game to win it périod
I think you meant “hard disagree”. Hardly disagree means you don’t really disagree with him.
@@souviksingh7697Yes sorry 😂 I was too frustrated by rory
He didn't say manger or players shouldn't want to win hes talking about fans
He didn't criticise the manager for wanting to win, he criticised him for 'not having the chip to compute how some fans would want to lose that game', and he is completely correct. Everybody on their high horse when it's not them, united fans would be the same if it was Liverpool and vice versa. Chelsea Leeds, palace Brighton, insert any rivalry and the majority of fans would be the same as spurs fans were
@@tomn1568 Can catagorically tell you if the same situation cropped up at Celtic to stop Rangers winning the league it would of been far more extreme than the Tottenham fans and he wouldn't have been taking his frustrations out on the fans after the fact.
Rory actually has a good take here
No one wants their enemy to be successful. Chelsea and arsenal fans have said the same in the past
Sorry but I would never cheer the other team while my team is losing Chelsea and spurs had the chance to personally crush Arsenal's chances they were just not good enough so they instead resort to Cheering against their team wow pathetic.
I don’t get anyone who disagrees with Rory on this. You’re all mugs.
Absolutely no way does any real Spurs fan want to in any way, help Arsenal win the league.
Spot on from Rory here
Rory is talking sense. People act like the football fanbase is logical and rational 😂 please. Every other team would be the same.
One of the few times I've ever agreed with Rory. He's clueless on the whole but he understands fan culture isnt as simple as "oh we got top 4, that therefore nullifies the abuse and laughs I'll get as a spurs fan forever"
Exactly what Ange and these modern keyboard warriors don't understand
And that’s why Mourinho Conte now Ange wants to ditch Spurs
Victim mentality
@@tamworth1025 I don’t know where this revisionism about Jose comes from, Conte let everyone know he didn’t want to be there. Jose only spoke about this years after he was sacked, and he was sacked because he was fucking atrocious at Tottenham.
Spurs was redefined as a club yesterday. A small club with a bigger hatred for their neighbours than love for themselves. Good luck winning a trophy *ever*😂
Same with assna 😂😂😂
Any proper club up the country would do the same
@@jamesevans2702Not true

Neutral here but why are Arsenal fans being such hypocrites? I remember hearing Arsenal fans saying they'd rather lose the Europa League final and Spurs lose the UCL final than both winning, which is actually far worse.
I agree with Rory
rory is absolutely right. flip this question to arsenal fans and see if they would be glad to hand Tottenham the league but have the chance to finish 4th. Nonsense
Ange was right.
Agree with Rory, (Liverpool fan
Finally I do not feel completely crazy😂
Rory is bang on, and it shows he's local supporter who actually attends matches.
I doubt the 99% of comments online agreeing with Ange would be reflected by match-going fans across the UK.
Ange is exactly what Tottenham need. Call out the bullshit and get the fans to focus on winning.
The fans having the mindset of stopping Arsenal winning the league being seen as a bigger prize than CL football (plus the money, and being able to attract better players) was an absolute embarrassment.
No it wasn’t you just don’t understand football rivalry. Yes it’s petty and tribal but that’s exactly what match going fans will tell you its all about. I understand maybe overseas fans not getting it as their not in and around it as much.
You don't understand rivalry then. Either you're an arsenal fan and just want to make us feel shitty for doing it or you're being delusional about fandom in UK football. this is one of the only times ive ever agreed with rory. if spurs had won this game, this would have had worse energy than arsenal winning the league at white hart lane. we'd forever be known as the side who handed our biggest rivals the league. your mate who's an arsenal fan will always bring it up, forever; along with other fans. There's no end to it. And I have seen spurs qualify for the CL many times and proceed to do nothing in it, bar 1 spectacular year in which we had a far better and ready team.
Ange sure got a lot of balls to say that after he singlehandedly got them into the mess they are in. Had he got the team challenging for titles, fans would surely be cheering for them to win. He's saying if it isn't his fault that they are crap.
You lot say this like winning yesterday would secure UCL for Spurs, when in reality it just gave them a slight outside chance if Villa cocked it up on the final day which was massively unlikely.
Any reasonable fan would take destroying their biggest rivals' title hopes over a slim chance at entering a competition they're not going to win.
ANGE IS FINISHED WITH THIS SMALL CLUB.
EUROPA LEAGUE.
LEVY WONT SPEND.
SPURS SUFFER.
Seen it before
Pretty priceless result for Chelsea fans. One London rival has bottled the league and another has bottled the qualifying for UCL.
So waiting for the league to the 'wire' is what you called "BOTTLED". Seems like someone here is lost.
Rory’s completely correct here, arsenal fans just crying
Where was this energy when they lost 4 out of 5 before this
Don't have a horse in this race but Rory is right. Arsenal fans would be the same if it was the other way round.
mentality of a small club, no wonder he supports chelsea
calling Chelsea a small club is small brain take

first time he is 100% spot on
This will come back to bite Tottenham, next season when they loosing people will say I thought you like loosing. Believe me this is going to create more problems for them
He doesn’t understand what it’s like to live around these people in your every daily life. He’s just passing through until the next job
I can understand being relieved after the game and admitting you're glad Arsenal won't win, but also being upset on missing out on top four and the money it brings in given how you started this season. Actively cheering, dancing, and twerking for City at your own team's expense is just too far, in my opinion.
They've gotten top 4 before, hell 2 years ago they beat arsenal for it. Last year they did fuck all in it and I didn't see any quality investment into their squad last year. Even if you want to say Ange will be different, he spent 50 mill on Brennan Johnson and of all the people he could've loaned in Jan to reignite their title charge, he loaned Werner. They've been in the champions league multiple times and never once since 2016 and that time they reached the CL final have I said they look like a serious threat. They can get Europa and be more competitive there and no one raises a fuss or be responsible for handing your biggest rival their first league in 20 years when you're still struggling to win a single trophy, that will live forever
@@Hattori_864 I get that, I do. Losing 4/5 is why they are where they are. no team has ever missed out on top four after winning their first eight of 10 games. So, that’s a massive failing on their part. However, to write yourself off by saying oh well, we won’t win it so why bother being in it if it means Arsenal win just shows an absolute lack of ambition. The fact is, the fans are more concerned with Arsenal not winning than they are with their own team’s progression and success.
@@SanDeezyBreezy61986 The spurs fans know how their club is run. Even if by some miracle they start playing at the level of City or Madrid or even an Atletico Madrid, it doesn't matter if they don't have enough depth to back it up. They sold Kane for about 100 mil a few days before the season started and brought in BJ for 50 mil, two full transfer windows later and we've only seen part of the remaining 50 used for dragusin who can barely get a game. Last season they spent 60 mil on richarlison with CL money, also bissouma who wasn't good enough and injury prone and udogie who they immediately loaned out. If the owners aren't going to invest properly, what's the point of going into it at the risk of handing their biggest rivals the league while still struggling to win a single trophy and still being shit for the foreseeable future
We found another international lads. I love how you lot support clubs in country's you have never stepped foot in and yet don't bother trying to understand the culture of the place lol.
@@tooshlong yup, because people from other countries can’t possibly understand rivalries or supporting a team passionately. Brits have a monopoly on that, I guess!
It’s just shown what a small club Tottenham fans realise they are. Pretty embarrassing really.
Rory has toxic mentality saying he'd want Chelsea to throw the match because of fan culture
Rory, what you are saying is totally irrational. Every sensible football fan will always want his team to win, especially if there is a chance to quailfy for the Champions League. What the consequences are for other clubs is irrelevant. Those Tottenham fans who engaged in Man City celebrations, and sang anri-Arsenal songs were just showing the world that they are total morons.
Football is purely irrational though we all watch 22 men kick a ball about for 90+ mins, there isn’t such thing as a sensible football fan, it’s supposed to be petty and non rational.
Your assertion that football is purely irrational is completely wrong. Players need to be highly skilful in playing the ball, but that is only the basic essential. Football is a team game that also requires intelligence from the players and most importantly from the team manager. Formations and tactics play a huge role in the quality of each game and the final result. The most successful clubs are those who are managed well. Those that are poorly managed fade away very quickly. Yes, football is also a highly emotional experience for for the fans. But irrational? Never!
@@leonardharris1350 I’m fully aware of how much details the players and managers go into I meant purely football fandom is irrational 👍
Well, I agree that some football fans are completely irrational, but the vast majority are not. Most of them are fans because they appreciate and understand the complexity of the game, and that the outcome of any match can depend on many different fine details relating to player skills, formations and the tactics followed by each team.
I disagree football without emotion is incredibly boring (have you ever watched a pre season friendly). This obsession with tactics is very recent and is probably more about intellectual showboating more an inherent interest in it all.
Your probably a Gen z if your upset by Spurs fans wanting to lose so Arsenal don’t win the league!! A TRUE Football fan acknowledges Rivalries!!!! “Rivalries ARE Football”
Rory. 100% correct. Rather get relegated than see spurs win anything
Spot on, from Tottenham fan!
Postecoglou knows nothing about rivalry
He’s trying to instil a winning mindset at the club by going for top four, unfortunately it’s spurs who would rather watch their rivals fail rather than chase success themselves
Any situation where I would want my club to lose a game is a situation that would make me quit football . Especially a game that can give me CL football
he was the manager of Celtic haha
He literally managed in the most heated derby in the UK lmao
And spurs knows nothing about winning lol
I came to see the fan perspective and I am rolling on the ground laughing! I need air! This is hilarious.
This is the only time I’ve ever agreed with this guy
Now that Rory has said West Ham can't win against Man City we all know that West Han will win against Man City.
Gosh im happy his views sank. Deserved. Made a joke of himself the past year.
Who is this weird failed Paul Merson clone?
This whole small club mentality chat is bullshit.
This whole spurs hate is ridiculous.
Literally arsenal fans did the same tbing for years.
Its a joke the hate spurs get.
Spurs always have hate for this or that. No matter what they do it aint good enough.
If spurs beat city they get made fun of. If spurs lose they get made fun of. They spend money and the player flops they get made fun of. They dont spend money get made fun of. Spurs get to the ucl final and lose it against one of the best teams of the generation and its made fun of. The hate is quite frankly embarrassing
If u hate spurs just say it but stop blaming spurs for everything that involves or doesn't involve them its a joke and a disgrace. I've never seen a team so hated in my life when doing nothing
The most annoying thing in this video is that mosqiito-esque high pitched buzzing. Wtf
Rory is right on this one
It is sport of Football and winning matters to Spurs
Some people do my head in. You realise if he even addresses the narrative and doing things for fans, it can be considered "tanking", "match-fixing" or even "spot-fixing" if he talks about elements of the game. No professional football entity is allowed to do these things so the idea of even addressing the legitimacy of a narrative like "losing the game for Arsenal to not win the league" would just be silly on Ange's part. I am a city fan btw but also, even if Spurs did win the game, Arsenal would win the league because of their performances during the year, not just the last game. We lost to Wolves and Arsenal took 4 points from us. It has a little to do with Spurs but not all.
It's true, we do sing about Chelsea and at least 8 teams two weeks ago sang about Leeds falling apart.
Personally I feel it's a game you should want to win, but have absolutely no anger/emotion if you don't.
Ange is the main character whilst spuds are the NPC's
It’s the difference in opinion between match going fans and sky sports fans. Especially with London clubs .
This Rory guy is so clueless. How does he have a job doing this? Everyone understands why fans would want Spurs to lose but the point is they should be more concerned with their own success. We're in a situation (albeit unlikely) that Arsenal can still win the league and spurs don't get CL football. Your rationale only arguably trumps wanting your team to win if it's all totally set in stone, i.e, City have already won the league and Villa have already secured 4th.
Rory absolutely spot on
rory absolutely spot on here
As a Spurs fan, I 100% disagree. It’s embarrassing and it shows the same shit mentality that’s seen us trophy-less for ages. ESPECIALLY when 1. Arsenal still aren’t guaranteed the league and 2. Aston Villa had not yet secured CL. Not to mention that this City team is the benchmark - if we ever want to be taken seriously (some fans seem content being the embarrassment club we are), we can’t let the opportunity to go at it with the best side in England pass us by. I swear if these shit fans drive Ange out I’ll be fully supporting my local Real Salt Lake til the end of fuckin time
so chelsea is small club then eh? wow Rory never ceases to make laugh my head out
At this point Rory is a Troll
What a deluded bunch of fans. I understand rivalry but when you could potentially have champions league, cheering the loss really does best explain the Tottenham mentality.
They've gotten CL multiple times before and they're still shit. What will change if they get it now? They'll still get knocked out in the RO16 and Levy will use most of the revenue to host concerts or American football and the team will remain shit, at least in Europa they have a chance to compete. But if they hand their biggest rivals their first league in 20 years, just for you to remain shit next year, that's going to live forever
Even if spurs won both there last games. If villa draw on the final day villa get top 4. Arsenal fans are just being salty coz there season is over
I’d get it if they were gonna overtake Villa but even if they’d beaten City they would have had to hope Villa lose

You’d like to think so, but given his comments it doesn’t really look like he has understood this one.
@@alexmartin3348 he does understand it, but he clearly also understands that Spurs will never amount to anything, if they keep having Arsenal on their mind instead of themselves. Preferring another teams failure over your own success is the epitome of a losers mentality.
Eden hazards goal in the battle of the bridge was as celebrated as drogbas in the ucl final. I will watch Eden’s goal until I’m 100.
Ange isn't the first manager to expose the weak mentality of Spurs, ask Conte and Mourinho about it. I get it, Spurs fans would rather be happy to lose as long Arsenal don't win the Premier League title. However, Spurs not so long ago were at one point challenging for the Premier League title under Pochettino but they couldn't get it done and failed to win any silverware and their decline in the 18/19 season sent Spurs back to mediocrity. Won't be long until Son leaves Spurs and we'll see how Spurs are really are with mostly dross players in their squad.
Rory is 100% correct. I was hoping that the canteen staff would be our back four. 😂
Rory saying Spurs fan wanna lose 10-0 is the funniest thing ever
That was the exaggeration but you get the gist
Rory successfully made irrational sound rational. 😂😂 I am almost agreeing with him whilst disagreeing
i dont think anyone would understand what spurs fans went though. In my eyes celebrating your team losing is insane but until i'm in that position ill never understand, but as an Arsenal fan from what i saw that game spurs dont have what it takes to win anything so ill never experience that. (the are you watching Arsenal chants were grudgingly really clever and i would have joined in if i was in there shoes)
Celebrating so much you cause a 3rd born winner manager to consider quitting is the most extremely damning thing i've ever heard out of any club.
Tottenham are an extremely damaged club i understand the value of rivalry the best memory's of Arsenal's worst era were always beating Spurs. Spurs are deep within over 50 years of pain, so i get why the rivalry means so much but the level of damage to the ability to win is staggering. Spurs had a chance at CL football, a chance to progress, a chance to improve, a chance to make steps to winning and they choose to celebrate losing instead of rueing the chances lost. We all learnt alot about Tottenham this week and none of it is good, the at least Arsenal cant win should be the silver lining of a bad situation not the true prize.
As a spurs fan he’s spot on here
"Hello mate? U alright? We hate Tottenham, or however it goes" 😭😭😭 incredibly out of touch for someone who seems to be presenting themselves as representing the average football fan
such a pathetic display of support. i guess when you consider the fanbase, you can't be surprised.
Those who critised Spurs fans for doing this actually understand the reason why. The reason why they turn a blind eye now is because of their overwhelming hatred for Manchester City, whether it's due to 115 or just to stop the 4 Peat.
It's about hatred for another club & nothing more
It’s a difficult one. You cannot expect a manager of a professional club, let alone a club chasing champions league football, to go out there to lose and be happy when they did, the fans interpretation is completely understandable I would hate Forest to win the league but the players and managers are playing for contracts and results.
Ange was 100% correct. No wonder nobody respects Spurs or Chelsea. At least Arsenal are giving it a go and trying to win things. Spurs and Chelsea are those armchair fans at home saying "I'd have finished that chance" while stuffing their faces with pringles and cola. Deluded

You couldn’t be more wrong. The “armchair fans” are the ones who don’t understand why Tottenham fans were happy with losing.
Ik the other guy picked up on this but you are crazy if you think people respect Arsenal. I assume you haven’t been to a game so you don’t hear “same old arsenal, always cheating”, literally Google why Tottenham vs Arsenal is a rivalry.
Every spurs fan was relieved when haaland scored
I had a lot of respect for you Rory. It’s all gone. No wonder you are a fan of a shite club like Chelsea. You deserve each other.
I don’t get it. This nonsense only undermines the integrity of the sport
“Rivalry” is holding Tottenham back Ange wants to be a winner he thought the fans did too but I think we all know spurs fans settle for mediocrity and aren’t actually about winning shit.
Spot on Rory
0:39 it is completely and totally ridiculous. He’s coming to build a winning mentality and you’re asking him to set a game aside to lose so that Arsenal maybe can’t win the title even though if you really didn’t fuck with Arsenal, you just trust them to fuck it up on the final day and you go out there to win every game you can.
I live thousands of miles from england and follow english prem and top flight for decades...sadly, Rory is correct...but it is sad...im also a huge huge arsenal fan btw...but i get the vitriol between the fans
assna fans mad at spurs cs they lost and they acting like they wouldnt want their team to lose if the roles reversed 😂😂😂😂😂😂 so pathetic
It’s not completely inaccurate when champions league football is on the line. If that wasn’t the case it would make much more sense. Big players are much more attracted to teams who play in the competition along with the monetary gain from it. It can truly be key to changing the squad in a positive way.
This is spot on. Champions League football is irrelevant for Tottenham (not to mention very possibly wouldn't have happened even if they'd won). Players don't give a fuck about it anymore either in terms of transfers, as long as they're paid what they want they'll join Tottenham in the summer. Winning Arsenal a league title would be something they wouldn't ever recover from.

Spurs were great, they could've gotten something from a game with the best team in the world. With a bit of luck that game ends in a draw or better. What the hell is wrong with a team that fans WANT to lose because shadenfreude is all they have to cling to? Tribalism is real, I get it, but for gods sake have some pride in your players. Should they have walked off the pitch in the first minute? Maybe they should've gambled on themselves to lose? There are very rare situations where you would your team to loose. Chelsea were playing Leicester on the last game that season they won it. If it came down to having to loose to Leicester to stop spurs winning the league. As rory said. You do it. That was a pointless season for Chelsea anyway.
More concerned about other clubs than your own ambitions. No wonder managers don’t want that club.
They were right to do it because deep down they know their irrelevant little club only exist in relation to the Arsenal. If it’s seemingly impossible for your own club to achieve anything, then it’s natural.
