Anybody else obsessed with stabilized camera movements and sick cinematic b roll? If so, then you're gonna be as obsessed with this new camera stabilizer as we are!! the opening shot of The Place Beyond The Pines is shot handheld.
As is the Children of Men example, and Clockwork was either a dolly or a zoom. Kind of funny. Don't know if I would have used those examples.

Dude, I feel the exact opposite for this guy. You said Goodfellas was directed by Coppola? And some of those sequences in your little intro were NOT shot using a Steadicam! And you are trying to sell me this piece of crap for filmmaking and yet you know nothing about films! and you actually compare it to an ARRI Trinity???? There was no gimbal involed in all of the shots you mention at the beginning. Just the steadycam. The Arri Trinity did not exist before 2015 and the movies you presented are older (some waaay older) than that. One of the latest and more famous movies using the trinity was Deakins on 1917.
Deakins was the DoP, not even the operator! The C70 would be the heaviest camera is trust on that rig... did you see the size of the suspension arms? Tiny!

Coppola, on the other hand, shot The Godfather.
Is good to learn about the films you want to talk about. Specially when your audience is mostly filmmakers. Specially if you refer to one of the best classics of all times.
Plus Steadicam wasn't even invented in 1970-71, when Kubrick shot A Clockwork Orange! The opening shot of Alex must be a dolly.

Thought I was done buying gear, saw this video and I’m instantly sold. A problem I’ve been battling is also using cine primes and gimbals. The micro jitter is annoying and holding long takes is so fatiguing. Awesome video man. Thanks for the time you put into this!
man brotha I can totally relate to this that’s probably one the reasons why I haven’t expressed the interest just yet to produce another Short Film with my 6K Pro because in reality I don’t have all the proper gear to build it into a beast cinema camera on the stabilization side I have a Ronin S but my 6K Pro is too bulky to fit it so now I have to get the new RS3 Pro which I saw in a video from another CZcamsr filmmaker and film riot as well the 6K Pro does wonders on the new RS3 but I was still hesitant because I said to my self “man ion wanna keep dealing with constantly holding the gimbal in front of me my arms are gonna get tired my back starts to hurt and the micro jitters are the biggest cons on all gimbals then you try your best to hold still to prevent micro jittering you’re damn near gonna make yourself pass out!!! but now that I seen this Video I’m instantly SOLD on it and will be buying both the rs3 and this tilta float to combo it together im just extremely obsessed with buttery shots and steadicams are sooo expensive they make it hard for us low budget filmmakers not anymore but trust and believe I felt this comment 😭
@@EDJK_ yo. It’s crazy how similar our issues were. So I bought it, tested it, and loved it. The one drawback is the setup time and once it’s on, it’s on. There’s no going back. For me , I’d need a person who strapped in and used this primarily at our weddings. I made a gimbal setup with the easyrig minimax that is soooo perfect. No fatigue either. I’ll be posting a video on it soon but it’s an amazing alternative to this.

Can you do a follow up review on this. Also, every time you put on off the vest, do you need to re-balance it. Lets say your a wedding videographer and you take to off to go into car, then next location you put it back on. Is it easy ?

Hi, the opening shot of the place beyond the pines is a handheld shot. Sean Bobbitt, the DP who shot it, gave a workshop I attended a few years ago and said it was handheld.
Hey can you make a video comparison of sony A1 8k footage and the red 8k footage. (not sure which red camera model has it)

Looking for a Velcro extension belt for the Tilta Float vest. It's cold here and with a heavy coat the vest will not fit properly.

Being a heavy steadicam user with BMPCC6K i was over weight limit on the Pilot, so I picked the float, nice quality kit but the waist belt is killing me
Any tips on getting the belt not to hurt will help
shoulder straps and extra padding. Buy a padded foam belt and strap it to the inside

Hi. Just pitching in all the movies you mentioned were not shot with Arri trinity. Just steadicam. Which is much less expensive and there is a lower price threshold to get in to. Cheers

Wolf of Wall Street used a techno crane for that shot, Goodfellas was a Scorsese movie, and the steadicam was never used on a clockwork orange

Hello! Not a few of us feel identified with that frustration when seeing the results of a careful take. There is a lot of marketing and sponsored teams on CZcams, you always think that this will be final and the z axis does not forgive !!!
DJI RS3 Pro, improves but does not solve.
But a solution that attacks that problem sounds more logical than buying "the latest algorithm". So, as I thought, with 3 axes resolved, we have to go for the damn Z axis. Thank you very much for your video and for the hope! subscribed.

how about this exact stabilaiter BUT WITH A SHOCKMOUNT ON THE PART WHERE YOU TOUCH THE POLE!! so the part you hold is like a tube that is around the pole and the pole floats inside the tube! Like a Mic Shock Mount!!!
Bro I saw another guy did review and he hated it , he couldn’t balanced it and his back was killing it within few minutes. I know your review was totally different but I’m honestly how long it took u to balance ? Can u share all those info and building the whole setup?
look at bestboys link he mentioned. if you are new to this type of operating your lower back will build up lactic acid within minutes, causing your lower back to feel like its burning. ive been operating steadicam professionally for 20 years.

Kinda weird that half the long epic movie sequences you mentioned in the beginning justifying the need for a stabilizer were actually shot handheld. Certainly the sequences referenced from Dark Knight and Place Beyond the Pines and Children of Men were handheld.
Also the tilta float costs about 4x as much as my phone...

@@aramisnature nope, I have a high-mid range phone that's about one generation old... Man if the tilta float cost only 4x as much as a flip phone (~$100) id be all over it, but it costs more than the most expensive maxed out iphone on the market...
It's a belt, not a vest. I'd really like to see you or Adam do a video where you highlight the differences between this system and a DYI gimbal/stabilizer rig. Not just in terms of set up and general use but the practical on set/location differences of the Float vs. DYI. As someone with experience with steadicams on film sets I immediately noticed drawbacks to the each DYI I saw as opposed to the Float. Several videos of DYIs ignore these issues as cats seem to care more about "look what I made" verses practical use.
the main idea of this option is simplicity of assembly. at the end of the day these stabilizers (DIYs and commercially made) are just a pole with a weight on the bottom. its 90% operator and 10% gear. master what you have and you will pull off great shots.

@@ivanmadethis Yeap. I use a very thin weight lifting belt under the Float belt and it works well. No back pain.

@@ivanmadethis Yes. Even before the Tilta vest was available, I used a similar shoulder strap and modified the belt and the Float to use the pendulum. For light setup, the vest worked fine with no back pain but for heavy setup, I still need to wear the weight training belt.
Literally none of those examples were shot on an Arri Trinity though...

depends on what you got. i have AB batteries for my steadicam , but they are all nice. if you have a dji drone that uses tb50 then just get those.

The weird part is it took 5 years for someone to finally release a compact consumer friendly version of Arri Trinity. Even tho it's basically a combination of gimbal and stabilizer. I bet in a few months other companies will start jumping on this new trend and you'll have some cool options for every price range on a market.
It actually is a trend that started almost one year ago: just search "fake trinity" in CZcams and you will find a lot of videos. I guess the first one that started this is Momentum Productions

The AR came out long before ARRIs version, so ARRI copied that first.
