This is one of his best! I like the jazzy swing. Huge Michael McDonald influence all over. It kinda counts to me as Michael McDonald song more than a Kenny Loggins song, in that if you were making a playlist, this would fit right in with McDonald's stuff, including his late Doobie Bros work.
Written by Loggins, Michael Mcdonald and David Foster. Considered a Loggins song because it was on one of his albums. Also has two guys from "Mr. Mister" singing background. Great stuff.
Yes..and the sound of the Fender Rhodes (Electric piano)
Yeah, Kenny has a good high range like Michael without getting breathy.
I always thought of it as Michael unlocked the real Kenny.
One of my all time favourites by Kenny. What a true GEM and gifted performer.
Mine, too!
YES! đ
Thanks for your continuous love and support Jeannieâ€â€
For how long have you been a fan of mine Jeannie ??
My favorite Kenny Loggins song! I'm so glad you did this one.
Same. Just a stellar song âšïž
Me too!!! I love this song!!!
Celebrate Me Home is a must by Kenny Loggins
The horn at the end of the song sounds like a saxophone to me. Also, I interpreted Kenny Loggins' falsetto in the pre-chorus as a sound of desperation, trying to reason with his partner, lest the relationship fail.
"Heart To Heart" is quintessential "yacht rock," which I define as pop rock with R&B and jazz influences. The zenith of yacht rock was the late 1970s to mid-1980s, but many musicians still make it today. For example, I consider James Blunt and Michael Bublé to be honorary yacht rockers.
In all, as both a soloist and as a member of the duo Loggins & Messina, Kenny Loggins had 32 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, including 17 Top 40 hits, six Top 10 hits, and one #1 hit. Here's a list of his Top 40 hits in chronological order:
"Your Mama Don't Dance" (Loggins & Messina) (#4 in 1973)
"Thinking Of You" (Loggins & Messina) (#18 in 1973)
"My Music" (Loggins & Messina) (#16 in 1973)
"Whenever I Call You 'Friend'" (w/ Stevie Nicks) (#5 in 1978)
"This Is It" (#11 in 1980)
"Keep The Fire" (#36 in 1980)
"I'm Alright" (#7 in 1980)
"Don't Fight It" (w/ Steve Perry) (#17 in 1982)
"Heart To Heart" (#15 in 1983)
"Welcome To Heartlight" (#24 in 1983)
"Footloose" (#1 in 1984)
"I'm Free (Heaven Helps The Man)" (#22 in 1984)
"Vox Humana" (#29 in 1985)
"Forever" (#40 in 1985)
"Danger Zone" (#2 in 1986)
"Meet Me Half Way" (#11 in 1987)
"Nobody's Fool" (#8 in 1988)
Kenny Loggins is a versatile musician. Compare and contrast "Heart To Heart" with "Welcome To Heartlight," "Footloose" and "Danger Zone." "Welcome To Heartlight" is a return to his folk-rock roots. "Footloose" is pure 1980s pop rock. "Danger Zone" flirts with heavy metal.
Speaking of "Danger Zone," Kenny Loggins is known for producing many hits for movie soundtracks in the 1980s. "I'm Alright" was featured on the Caddyshack Soundtrack. "Footloose" and "I'm Free (Heaven Helps The Man)" were featured on the Footloose soundtrack. "Danger Zone" was featured on the Top Gun soundtrack. "Meet Me Half Way" was featured on the Over The Top soundtrack. "Nobody's Fool" was featured on the Caddyshack II soundtrack.
Since you've already heard his two biggest hits, "Footloose" and "Danger Zone," I'll recommend listening to these hits of his:
"Your Mama Don't Dance"
"Whenever I Call You 'Friend'"
"This Is It"
"I'm Alright"
"Welcome To Heartlight"
"I'm Free (Heaven Helps The Man)"
"Meet Me Half Way"
Thank you for this compilationâ€
this man has one of the best voices on the planet and with Michael Mcdonalds huge contribution to this song you have a definite recipe for success.
I have serious flashbacks when I hear this song. As a child of 11 or 12, I used to have a ton of space lego sets that I would spend my time building with in my room, alone, in the evenings. I had a clock radio on my side table that would play music as I built things... and to this day I remember this song playing on alot of those evenings. It came out in '82 and was probably being played a lot because of it.
Every time I hear it, I am there, in that dim room, 11 years old, playing with lego.
Kenny Loggins is one of the greatest song writers with more hits in movie soundtracks than anybody!! Dig deep into Kenny. LEGEND!! HE WAS THE 80âs!
yes, but he was already superfine in the 70s when he teamed up with jim messina.
Hadn't heard this song in many a moon! Love it! BTW "Your Mama Don't Dance" is really great! Thanks so much for picking this song! You Guys ROCK!
Iâd forgotten how much I really like this song!! Love old Kenny heâs the man!!
Definitely sounds like itâs going to be a Dobbie Brotherâs song, but then we get Kenny Logginâs beautiful voice! He has so many hits that I forget about until I hear them again!
Thanks for your continuous love and support Carolynâ€â€

Brad & Lex, youâll love his âYour Mama Donât Dance( by Loggins&Messina) !!!
absolutely check this out!!
I love this song and it's always been one of my favorite Kenny Loggins tunes. It has great songwriting and a very cool groove and Kenny does a fantastic job with the soulful vocals (plus it has a very cool sax solo). Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald have been friends and songwriting partners for decades and they frequently sing on each others albums. It isn't too hard to pick out Michael McDonald's unique soulful tenor in the background vocals of this song. BTW, that is an alto sax on the solo, played by the legendary session musician, David Sanborn. You might have thought that it was a different brass/reed instrument because many saxophone solos are played with a tenor sax, which has a lower range and "fatter" tone than an alto sax.
WOW! I never knew that was David Sanborn!! Thank you for the information. đ
Just awesome brother!đđ¶đ”
Love the groove! đđđ
Not really into pop but there is no mistaking this mans voice. Superb.
Kenny Loggins is the man! He is the soundtrack to my college days. My roommate and I would sing Kenny Loggins songs to the top of our lungs in our dorm to his Leap of Faith album. We freaking loved it!
Pathway to Glory - Loggins & Messina is a masterpiece. You'll love it.
Kenny Loggins is amazing!!
Probably my favorite of Kennys! Blue eyed soul
What a voice!
Dude his vocal range is off the charts!! Not many can do this. So underated.
What a great vocal performance! That switch from falsetto into full voice leading into the chorus! Freaking awesome!
Kenny is great in concert too! The women go crazy over him. They rush the stage, scream & cry!
Understandable đ
@@lyndsaykenny6712He has a lot of charisma like Joe Walsh! The audience love them!
@@terrytari1891 can definitely understand why! I was born in 84 but if I was older in the 80s I would have been all over Kenny đ
@@lyndsaykenny6712We ALL love Kenny, even Kenny Roger's said that she loved Kenny L as a singer & sex symbol!
@@terrytari1891 Brilliant đ I always loved his voice on we are the world, without really knowing who he was. Plus Iâm in the UK so obviously not as well known over here. Now I know, well I love him!
Love this! I havenât heard it in many years! Kenny is greatâŠ..House at Pooh Corner is a great Kenny song âŠyouâll love it Lexâ€ïž

Kenny Loggins had so many awesome songs. This is my favorite!!
Kenny Loggins is one of my very favorite
3:59 HA! Feelin' it.
All saxophone y'all. Now that you're about to be a family listen to Kenny's sweet and heart rending "Return To Pooh Corner"
It is time for you guys to listen to Loggins and Messina's "Return to Pooh Corner." There is a live version from Redwoods. Stay safe.
This is pure ART!
This is a great to album! Should also check out "Don't Fight It" with Journey's Steve Perry. Fantastic duet.
That is alto saxophone from the one and only David Sanborn. His solo stuff is a very deep rabbit hole of jazz/R&B fusion. Can be heard on so many pop song hits including Carly Simonâs âYou belong to Meâ, David Bowieâs âYoung Americanâ, Linda Ronstadtâs cover of Smokey Robinsonâs âOoh Baby Babyâ and Paul Simonâs âStill Crazyâ to name a few. He was also the host of âNight Musicâ back in the late 80âs and can be seen in the live video that you reacted to with Jeff Healy.
Loggins has so much range, feel like heâs channeling a bit of Stevie Wonder here.
Waiting for you to post the I'm Alright reaction. Glad you guys stayed safe!
Would be appropriate, wouldn't it?
@@antoinettelopes lol, yes it would! đ
"Angry Eyes" hands down their best music.
Michael McDonald (The Doobie Brothers) is singing back up on this song. They wrote a lot together, the best by far are This is It and What a Fool Believes. There are live performances of them performing both together (magic). Both are musical geniuses.
My favorite by him for sure!
my fave kenny song!
Freshman year of college, this song dropped late 82, great memories
Hey guys what's up! Greetings from South florida! Hope you guys are all right. We didn't get much down here in South Florida but I'm sure you guys got a lot more than we did. Watching the TV around your area man doesn't look good. Stay safe. You guys rock! God bless you! Peace!
You should really check out the Loggins and Messina song Angry Eyes. It has great vocals harmonies, Sax, flute, funky bass. A complete groove đ€
Kenny Loggins is very special to me. I grew up listening to him. I was born January 1970s so I grew up listening to all his music. My mom was a huge fan so whenever I hear his music it warms my heart but this is my absolute favorite song from him him
1st...good morning, praying you guys are safe...a hui hou
It's a sax (sax coming in soprano, alto, & tenor). Yes He wrote the lyrics and word. He's one of the greatest singer-songwriter. He's written many film theme songs/scores (Caddy Shack, Top Gun, Footloose to name 3). He's collaborated with many artists. He was a member of group Loggins & Messina. He's in his mid 70's and voice is as crisp and strong as his earlier years. He was/is heavily influenced by R&B. He doesn't have blue eyes but is considered "blue-eyed soul" like Hall & Oates, Michael McDonald. Began his career in the 60's.
"You're drowning in the past, Mike. But I've got your life vest right here: it's called the 80's, and it's gonna be around forever!"
This is KL's best in my book....David Foster on grand piano, Michael McDonald on Rhodes organ, David Sanborn on tenor sax
He's got a brother hes got a brother by the name a Dave h*** you yo yo yo everybody's got a d*** Dave in the closet or some d*** w**** but the d*** Dave d*** Dave hes of that mother he can sing now hes got a d*** strong masculine voice hes got a d*** good song too it's called please come to Boston and yeah Dave did it Dave Loggins please come to Boston
This song reminds me a TON of "Sweet Freedom" by Micheal McDonald
Michael mcdonald co writer on this n bgv
Okay guys the "horn" that you heard in the song is the Alto Saxophone played by the GREAT David Sanborn!!! You guys need to check Dave out, he has some great music! However, I am glad you enjoyed Kenny Loggins. Check out his "Celebrate Me Home" album. Various guest artist, including Michael Jackson!
This song was one of Kenny Loggins' non-movie songs to hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the early 1980s. The song peaked at the #15 spot during the early winter of 1983. Kenny Loggins co-wrote this song with Michael McDonald and musician/songwriter/producer David Foster. The one and only David Sanborn plays the sax solo as well. A beautiful song indeed!!!
Lex has really good intuition in her assessment of songs
Junior walker played the best sax in his songs from the 60âs & 70âs great motown songs from him please react
Doobie Bounce, Yacht Rock. Itâs such a well-written song. I love it.
When you had Michael McDonald writing and producing your song back then, it was blue eyed soul at its best. One of Kenny's best of the early 80s, and my favorite.
At the famous We Are Yhe World recording session with all those legendary singers present, the late great Tina Turner said that the best voices there belonged to Steve Perry, Kenny Loggins and Darryl Hall. Tough to argue with that
That was an Alto Sax played by the great David Sanborn. đ
That was a Alto Saxophone played by David Sandborn who is a whole nother rabbit hole
One of his best
This is a classic rnb style song. The Spinners, Stephanie Mills, James Ingram style. Just a white guy singing his ass off.
I was waiting for you to hear this.
His cross between falsetto and full is flawless⊠Michael was all over this track. Sax solo much?
Thanks
Thanks for your continuous love and support Irisâ€â€

That's a SAXOPHONE!!!!!!! And saxophones come in different tones from low to high...
Michael Mcdonald on background vocals
Yacht Rock classic. David Sanborn on the sax
Yalls new babe is going to love piano music playing...dont forget the babies can hear and like music too...and at night play the lullabies that you choose for the baby and he'll be born knowing already that it's bedtime when it's played.

Yacht Rock Heaven
I really like Kenny Loggins... don't remember this though. It has a nice sound.
Oh, man! I haven't heard this song in years, and I forgot how good Kenny sounded on this song and album. Pretty sure that Michael McDonald is singing harmony on this. Such smooth melodies. This was the first track and it really set this record up for success when listening.
I grew up on this music my mom used to listen to Kenny loggins all the time đđŻ
Thanks for your continuous love and support Angelina â€â€
For how long have you been a fan of mine Angelina??
Another song I love from this album is "Heart Light" đ
It's an alto saxophone. A tenor saxophone has a lower tone.
This is a jam. And the riff is fun on the piano.
David Sanborn on alto sax.
Do a king creosote reaction? Nobody else will ask for it but his music is so good.
The horn is a sax and the distorted you were suggesting is called a mute
To me,for what it's worth, this sounds like Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald doing a Hall & Oates song. I mean that in the best way possible.
Sweet Reunion is just as good
I am a slayer and cannibal corpse fan. FUCKING SLAYER!!! BUT, I am a fool at heart for the horns.
You check out his live stuff. Live From the Redwoods is a good place to start
David Foster wrote the music.
Kenny and Michael McDonald wrote the lyrics.
Brad, itâs a reaction not a funeral.
Michael McDonald also does a version of this song
It's not as good as Kenny Loggins version..
That was famed Dave Sanborn playing the saxophone. Sounded like an alto saxophone to me but could have been a tenor saxophone.
No distortion on the sax.
That thing you are talking putting in the mouth of the Trumpet is called a Mute
probably an alto sax which has more of a higher pitch scale than a tenor sax
Just think about yâall in this storm. Hope you are safe. Itâs heading my way now. â€
There's tenor saxes and alto saxes.
Just like a voice, the alto is deeper and the tenor is higher. Pretty significant difference.
the piece put in a horn, is called a mute, makes the sound softer... players also use a "hat," which they can flip across the opening and off of it, at will to change the sound.

Drag me to the Danger Zone.
Man music was good in the 80's.
I have to tell both of you that I love your dynamics together Brad is very chill. Lexi has a little pep in her step. You know what Iâm saying?! I just love these two as a couple so much.
Tenor Saxophone đ·
Lex is talking about a muter the end of a plunger or a hat.
Saxophone. it could be a Tenor sax or alto.
Inspired by Kenny's parents divorcing when he was a kid.
Sounds like a sax. FYI there are 6 different types of saxophones đ· in common use. high to low, they are the sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, baritone and bass.

That was an alto saxophone with no effects
This song is a masterpiece. I was a bit disappointed in Brad &Lex critique of this song as I felt they donât know how to evaluate great music when they hear it.
Is there a more listenable voice than Kenny Loggins? I don't know.
How about abit of Stormzy - Mel Made me do it??
