    The hostel I showed in the video is the B&B&B&B&B Hostel. I recommend reserving it online using this website: www.booking.com/index.html?aid=1724899 Or you can use that site to search for other hotels, apartments, hostels, etc.

      What facts? You mean the annexation of the Baltic States that no civilised country ever acknowledged or recognised.
      And 30 years is long enough for us to move on, progress and develop without looking back to soviet legacy. We don't have and never had any attachments or sentiments to it therefore we were first ones to break through.
      Now you can see the results of Baltic nation determination - there's a big economical and political gap between them and the rest of those scumbags still belonging to the 3rd world, and that's including Russia itself.

    • @kostam.1113
      @kostam.1113 Před 5 lety +6

      So salty, typical for a Balt.
      Personally i don't come from that region nor do i have any personal feeling towards that issue but some things are just facts.
      Baltic states were part of the USSR for almost 50 years.
      They were completely integrated into USSR and had their borders permanently defined and some had territorial expansion thanks to USSR (Lithuania).
      Due to USSR restrictions on population movements they experienced peaks of their populations, also Russians became large minority from a small one.
      Currently Baltic states are decently developed countries and have good standards of living, although their internal politics from what i can see are dominated by unnecessary anti-Russian hysteria.

As Lithuanian economy is among fastest growing in Europe, so is the prices and it's not the fault of Euro currency :) Prices would have risen even without euro and year by year they will be higher. So the question is when is best to visit Lithuania - when the prices are still low, or when Lithuania will be full developed with all new infrastructure and high prices.

Also those people selling paintings wouldn't mind being filmed if people were to ask in Lithuanian / Russian / Polish. 99.9% sure they don't speak English very well. The older people there are very suspicious of outsiders especially ones wielding cameras, and speaking, what is to them, a weird language. I am Violeta, from Lithuania. It's always nice to see people who are coming to visit us. But you know, if you really want to taste our culture, i suggest to come here in summer. We, as baltic people, have our own traditional events, like RASOS. If you will be in Vilnius near summer, go to Verkių parkas, and you will see and feel where our roots came from. I also recommend you to go to some festivals, like Mėnuo Juodaragis (which is one of my favorite) or Yaga.
    I think our, lithuanian culture, is more about the connection, about community, than only about the places itself.

    Oh man, you are in Vilnius and I am not. :/ HOW sad is that! You are one of the reasons why my fiancee Kamilė and I started traveling the world. :) Your videos inspired us to visit some particular countries such as Nepal. If you need ANYTHING while you are in Lithuania, just let me know. My name is Tautvydas Šlevas. You can find me on Facebook. :) I know you like to improvise while exploring places (just like me), but I could ask one of my friends to show you around or just to have a cup of tea together and tell you more about Vilnius and Lithuania in general. You can see everything in different eyes when you are with local. I would love to do that myself but I am in Prague right now. I hope to meet you somewhere sometime one day...

I live in Riga, Latvia and if you ever plan to come here I can show you around. You can take a bus from Vilnius to Riga and after that to Tallinn, Estonia. In Riga too you can explore the old town and also see areas with many Art Nouveau buildings from the end of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. There are many other places that I can recommend visiting in this part of the world as well. Thank you.

If you short with warm clothes-There are plenty second hand shops-like "Humana" .Also in the summer time outside the hostel, you have music and beer outside..

    I am Lithuanian and I can confirm that you have fallen into a tourist trap. There are so much cool places to eat in the old town, you just have to have the patience to look for them. And I can bet that you would have payed something up to 10 euro for meal + beer. Those restaurants like fortas, forto dvaras, katpedele, berneliu uzeiga and so on are targeting foreigner visitors, and also have huge mark ups. If u want something really authentic and with authentic prices, it is also best to go to restaurants outside of Vilnius. For example There is a restaurant Kukudra in a small town called Kretingale, which is located in the middle of Klaipeda, Kretinga and Palanga. best Lithuanian cuisine you will ever have.
