    As a free to play player, this event was so difficult to prepare for. I had 17 raid passes leftover on Sunday and BARELY got enough energy to fuse two Necrozmas. Requiring players to use nearly 20 raid passes to fully experience an event is ridiculous.

      I second this!! I was lucky enough to save enough raid passes to fuse two Necrozmas, but since there were so many Ultra Beast raids on day 1, I felt that I had to choose between doing the Ultra Beast raids or getting enough fusion energy to get at least one Dawn Wings Necrozma and one Dusk Mane Necrozma. I ended up opting for the fusions, but I feel like we should have received more fusion energy per raid so we didn’t have to choose between doing the fusions or raiding for the Ultra Beasts. (I know we were given a week to raid for Ultra Beasts, but given that some required remote raid passes to do during the week, it kind of made it more feasible to wait until the weekend to do it instead).

    I think it’s tickets for me. Too many tickets. Whether in person or global, it’s just costing too much. The one year go fest was $5 was incredible and they probably got sooooo many more people to play. $20 is insane. And then if you wanna raid, ticket. If you wanna hatch eggs, ticket. It’s just getting excessive. And this is coming from someone who loves this game and plays daily.

      they only do this because certain people start foaming at the mouth at the thought of getting a hundo or shiny that they spend hundreds on raid passes, not even knowing that IVS don't even matter unless they do master league. its people like this that ruin it for everyone else and leads niantic to keep prices the same or even raise them because they're profitting off them.

    I think the purposes of Global Go Fest were met this year. I was actually able to see a group of real people in my rural community be able to get together and many of them had missed most of the CDs and other things. Global go Fest is meant for rural communities more so than any other event. But having to do SO MANY raids to fuse both forms beyond the free passes they gave with the ticket was extremely disappointing. My only complaint about the featured spawns was that it had far too many regularly high spawning non event pokemon. Yungoos and Pidgey? Come on. I'm fine with the old comm day spawns. It made our community so excited. I personally skipped most of those, but they were a huge hit.

    • @LandoValencia
      @LandoValencia Před měsícem +3

      I agree with you. I was shocked to see people I hadn’t seen in years out in the park playing this event. What I didn’t like is the fact that in my city (Mexico City) the community ambassadors’ events have unfortunately focused the playing areas in one or two parks only, and other smaller but nice parks were almost empty.
      It’s funny to see how you didn’t like Pidgey or Yungoos, when to me they were some of the most exciting spawns 😅. I was tired of seeing Tyrunt, Hoppip, and Amaura (because I have plenty of shinies), but my friends were so eager to catch them (one of them was so excited to get shiny Hoppip because he stopped playing years ago and didn’t have it).
      There are always things we are going to like and dislike about these events, so we should try to find something that brings us joy. Playing with old and new friends was it for me.

    @RyanRist2123 Před měsícem +125

    Honestly, biggest tip for you would be to stop going to all of the in person events. Like you said, you went to all 3 and got everything you could possibly want. The global isn’t for streamers who go to all 3. It’s for everyone that can’t afford to travel to play all the in person events. Personally I went to NYC and had a blast, but seeing the spawns like tyrunt, rattata, ducklett, and amaura were kinda trash. But all of my friends that didn’t go to NYC were able to get them. So I think it comes down to either not playing global, or don’t do all of the in person events. If we keep asking for more and more this game will die in a year or 2. Once they run out of stuff to release or feature it’s over.

    • @Paintballpro18
      @Paintballpro18 Před měsícem +15

      Fully agree with this. I think Global should still be equal-ish to the in person ones, but not to dilute the overall pool elsewise. Luckily I am blessed and can travel and can go to NY or Seattle or wherever in the States (cuz like heck am I going out of country for a game lol) and understand those will be much better...hence why I go, but for my brother or GF who also like to play but aren't as involved, it sucks sometimes showing them what I got and did in NYC only to come back and they get 20ish shinies. 2020 was absolutely amazing, but since then it's felt off and less rewarding than that one was. But I also get why people who never stopped grinding didn't like it, so I could see an argument for more "balancing" so to speak. Ultimately whatever comes out makes some groups excited, some groups alienated/bored which is almost inevitable due to how many styles of players Pokemon Go has (casuals, sweats, GBL/PVP, raiders, shiny hunters, XP grinders, Etc, etc) Edit: Tyrunt is goated though leave my boy alone LOL

    This GoFest felt too convoluted for what it was.
    1. Necrozma + solar energy + cosmog + research to get both was insanely annoying compared to last year's simplicity.
    2. Exp, stardust, etc... bonuses were only day 1
    3. Shiny rates felt way lower than last year. (Got 66 last year and 21 this year)
    4. Pokemon go is about catching pokemon and yet day 2 really doesn't really reward the downtime between raids at all.
    5. Field research was insanely annoying:
    WHY IN THE WORLD would you add field research that asks you to FINISH FIELD RESEARCH!?!?!? it just eats space.
    6. GoFest ticket holders were not given the proper amount of raid passes to complete the event research.

  • @fdhfghfgrhrrth
    @fdhfghfgrhrrth Před měsícem +7

    1. The spawns should be for 24 hours. Some people work and there’s just no reason it HAS to start at 10 and end at 6. If I want to go out at midnight and hunt for shinies they should be out and about. Trying to hunt all the shinies while also raiding is impossible ESPECIALLY when the shiny odds on raids are 1/20. 20 raids for each ultra beast while doing research and catching there’s too much going on.
    2. Might’ve been better to have raid hour style for the ultra beasts. Like 1 hour is buzzwole the next is Xurkitree etc. scrambling to get all the ultra beasts when they’re scattered all over the place is a cluster f***. And increase the shiny odds to 1/10 on raids. Some people are doing 80+ raids before getting a shiny which is crazy. The players should feel rewarded for doing the event. Not like it’s any old Wednesday raid hour
    3. Egg shiny odds are abysmal. Also why is there a cap on how many gifts you can open during go fest?
    4. Having guaranteed lucky trades for first trade of the day might be a nice touch.
    5. Why didn’t they do the unown 2 minutes? Random unown on the incense made it impossible to get any shiny unown. The in person events should be great but they shouldn’t be that much better than the global event. You’re just rewarding players with more money and shitting on the players who can’t travel across the globes 3 times without a few months. People have jobs and families. If it’s available at the in person events it should be the same for the global.
    All in all I still enjoyed the event but I do feel like it’s just kind of like a thrown together mess with many things that could be improved upon

I don't agree with this because the longevity of the game relies on restricting how much stuff people can get. That's why Mega Rayquaza was in elite raids. If it was a raid day, most people would get the most powerful Pokemon in the game with a good chance of getting really good IVs, and maybe even a shiny. Next time it comes around, people won't bother.

    My only complaint is the fusion energy gained each raid, and it's not about how to take down the raid boss the fastest to get more fusion energy. It's just varies from 80 to 120, which is very annoying. It's very time-consuming, and it's difficult to get both Dawn Wings and Dusk Mane. I managed to get both of them, luckily, but still, it's very irritating and exhausting.

      @icanmakerice Před měsícem +8

      The primals didn't have raid days when they were introduced, so your criticism is, at best, too early to make. The primals were introduced in hoenn tour and it required premium items (either paid via real live currency or earned pokecoins) to do.

    • @Paintballpro18
      @Paintballpro18 Před měsícem +4

      @icanmakerice to counter that point, primals are at least re-mega-able with only an upfront cost while fusions take an absurd amount of energy. Also as of this comment you can get more energy by walking said primal pokemon, that isn't possible with fusions and you'd think if they were going to allow it that would be a feature day 1 rather than an update.
      Not only that, but at least megas give more energy. Usually you only have to raid once or twice, these you had to do about 8 times to get enough energy for just one fusion. I do sincerely hope there is an eventual secondary way to get energy because it's not even that much of a differnece maker with the nerf both dusk and dawn got once released. At least make them just slightly stronger than the current 1 spot so the fusion of 2 pokemon is with beating 1.

      @@Paintballpro18Yes it takes a lot of energy to fuse to get one of the necrozma. But then it also doesn't have a time limit on it. Mega evolution lasts only for 8 hours while fused mons stay fused unless we separate them manually.

    • @Paintballpro18
      @Paintballpro18 Před měsícem

      @ritikdrona okay but say you want to dex entry a dawn and dusk, there's 1000 each, and then you need to fuse 2 more for good IVs. That's 2000 each, and I doubt many trainers thought that far. That's basically asking people with the ticket to have raided (efficiently btw) 26 more times using the 1000 you get for free for one, and 400 for the codes we got, plus/minus the amount you recieved per raid. Getting only 9 free passes on the day, that's 17 premium passes you had to use yesterday to complete the dex.
      Plus at least with megas, they are free after the initial cost (which is what I take full advantage of to increase mega level) while fusions are fused and if you mess up, that's energy down the drain. As I stated in my comments, wouldn't have a problem if they decreased cost, gave us a way to make it up, or some other perk to make the huge cost to players worth it.

  • @yaboyjay7202

    You touched on it, but to me the main problem is Niantic adding "bonuses" that don't feel like bonuses, but rather something that should be in game permanently (catching raid bosses easily) or were (uncapped remote passes). I will also never understand why they are SO bad about making spawns fun. It's such an easy and obvious fix.
    On a final note as a EU player I can't believe I have caught this many Corsola, but have STILL not seen a single form of Tauros ever, denying everyone outside NA the ability to complete our Kanto dex how many years in? So my random observations from 2024 GO Fest:
    -Shiny odds for Necrozma felt like they were abysmal. I did close to 40 raids and it wasn't until #35 that I got a shiny. It did take a long time to gather the energy required to fuse. AND then it feels like the bonus effects for Fused Necrozma are kinda lame.
    -I drove some players around and it felt like the game rewarded players more shiny pokemon for distance traveled. This also seems like a good strategy in general because more moving = more spawns to check = more shiny pokemon.
    -The party rewards were ALL Pikachus. It would have been nice if they would have dropped some regional shiny pokemon in there to award players that played with friends and that continued with friends.
    -The ability to do up to 6 special trades were AWESOME. This should be implemented in future events. Maybe even increase the amount to 8.
    -No rotoms was a bummer.
    -Beast balls were amazing, and the fact that you could excellent throw Necrozma close to every time was awesome!
    -I didn't see any special eevees.
    -On Day 2, we didn't see as many rare spawns compared to Day 1 and the rotating habitats.
    -Having more timed research would have been fun to complete as there was basically nothing after the first hour of day 1.
    -I caught close to 1400 pokemon on both days combined and not a single 98% or hundo.
    -I got a total of 22 shinies (12 day 1, 10 day 2)
    -Raids repopulated very fast which was great!
    Was it fun? Yeah. Do I regret spending money on the ticket? Maybe a little. Did Niantic get rich in a single weekend. Heck yeah they did.

    This event was basically just a raid day for a lot of people it felt like. Like I bought the ticket because 3 coffees in exchange for raid passes, guaranteed 1 fusion, and the marshadow event, is absolutely worth while. I think you nailed it, that the bonuses for the ticket DO tend to be worth it, which is positive.
    But subjectively, there weren't any spawns that I was excited about, nothing really new or rare (shiny jang-mo-o is cool, but its not ENOUGH in my view in terms of spawns for the "biggest event of the year"). I get that some people are super excited about them, but the Ducklett, Crabrawler, Emolga etc spawns? Like I would kill to be a fly on the wall in those meetings at Niantic when they're pitching spawns. Like the ducklett guy wins?
    And the adventure affects of the fusions absolutely do feel just like, shoehorned in for no reason. I think you nailed it, its to say "look at all these adventure affects", but they just don't seem thought out. The ONLY thing about either adventure affect that seems cool, is Moongheist Beam counts as a full moon for Ursaluna. But other than that...surely people can wait until night time to evolve stuff. And the Daytime adventure affect...like there is probably 1 person out there that plays PoGo at their night time job and they sleep all day, and I'm sure that person is super pumped about these effects. Even though they can't raid for the energy to get them, since they only play at night.

We had a blast at the NYC event and we played 5 or 6 hours each day on the global. Overall, we had a blast and enjoyed what we got (each ended up with a couple shiny Ultra Beasts and a couple Shiny Necrozmas and tons of regular shinies). If I could go back though, I wouldn't buy the Global Ticket after doing the city event. I didn't realize another Cosmog encounter in Global was free. Also the week of Ultra Beasts, plus the Ultra Beasts Encounters, kind of made Saturday a blah day for raiding in my opinion. You had to choose between Ultra Beasts that you've been raiding for a week, or Necrozma who you knew you were going to have to grind the next day for the fusion energy. Anywho, felt it was worth the money and had fun with my son. If you can get to a City event though, make the effort, a great memory for my son and I.

    I had some fun this GO Fest, but this was my worst one by far, and I've been playing global GO Fests since the one in 2020. At least day 1 was unfun, I had more fun on day 2.
    What I personally liked were the spawns during each habitat, as a lot of Pokemon that spawned had Shinies I adore (Golett, Phantump and Rockruff to name a few). The raids themselves were also pretty good, you basically had a lot of options for what you could battle.
    The part of GO Fest I hated the most isn't really the gameplay itself but the friend I took with me who turned out to have been like a mosquito flying near my ear. He wouldn't shut up about how poorly I did, would make a mockery of me in front of others, saying stuff like "Oh, uhh, did you know those Necrozmas can have backgrounds??" or "Did you know some Necrozmas are actually blue??" and whenever I got a Shiny he didn't have and/or wanted really bad he'd say it was "undeserved" and that I should even it out by either giving it to him or transfering it.
    Sounds like a skill issue on my part, I know, but it's like having a mosquito flying near your ear when you're trying to sleep. He was being ironic and an asshole on purpose, but the joke stopped being funny after 30 minutes and he wouldn't stop even after I made it obvious I was sick of it.
    BUT other than having to tolerate an annoying friend, what I really disliked about GO Fest were how they handled raids on day 2 and Unown. These alphabet pricks would spawn constantly on day 1 and never be shiny. I haven't gotten a Shiny Unown since 2020 and seeing Unown nowadays feels a little boring to me because I already know it's not going to be Shiny. As for the day 2 raids, I really disliked the lack of variety AND the fact you got so little energy. If you weren't planning on spending money that day or didn't have extra premium passes, you were basically fucked in terms of fusing Necrozma. Yes, the special research gave a 1000 of whatever energy you picked, but it still feels like Niantic trying to be generous but coming off as fake and dishonest.
    TL;DR - spawns and day 1 raids good. unown, day 2 raids and an insufferable friend bad.

    My local community slowly has been increasing with limits on remote raids. Unlimited remote raids bring less people out, which put other users in a position of not being able to raid in-person / having to buy remote raids.
    I think to keep some sort of balance, if Niantic was to increase or remove limit, they should increase the price again. You're paying a premium to not go out. I drive twenty minutes (one way) to meetup each week with my local group. Last week with raid hour every day + 2 days of global was 7 hours of just driving for in person events...

    As someone who quit for 3-4 years, and only recently returned a few months back, I honestly had a BLAST! My shiny luck was nuts, (40+ in 2 days, but 80% of them came on day 2 which was odd, day 1 had me worried) Now is this a realistic view that most players will share? Probably not. You bring up great points about "repeat" or "Com Day" mons. I personally LOVED catching up on all the stuff I missed, but I could 100% see why it would be lame for players who never stopped grinding over the years.. There very much should be more balance (Maybe add an extra release Mon/shinies for global? idk..) It was also heart breaking to see so many people around me have lousy luck.. But that's just RNG Sometimes right? I think the slow drip of things like releases/shinies are always going to make people who grind feel punished/bored during repeats, and those who take breaks rewarded when they return, which is a slippery slope imo. I think balance is one of the hardest things in any game, because regardless of what drops you will alienate some kind of player base. But there has to be some sort of better system than what we have right now. I also get Free to Play v.s Pay to play players had a DRASTICALLY different experience. I know that if you dump money into this game, you will always be ahead.. But I don't think it's fair that most free players weren't able to grind a necrozma (because of fusion energy etc.) unless they hoarded passes from their 50 coins from gyms for months.. Anyways I just wrote a novel by accident, thanks for your continued content. Be safe out there!

I don't feel the repetition because I do other things, play other games, etc. Sometimes I miss events. I spend money on the game around events and during certain times where there are things I really want. Still plenty of content for me to consume and I've always looked at the game as a marathon and every time I come back and do events I'm excited and have a blast.

    Literally my first Go Fest as far as I can remember. I played PoGo consistent from 2016 to the end of 2019, off and on in 2020 and barely touched the game until June 14th of this year. Decided to pay for the ticket cause Marshadow is one of my favorite pokemon. Day 1 was me coming back from a trip so I was in an airport, caught a few shinys but really just wanted the Marshadow out the way. Day 1 got the research done and 9 shinys but I was dealing with a long flight so couldn’t play much. Day 2 it was just raids, local community showed up. My brother and I found a spot with 3 gyms back to back to back, knocked out 20 raids with ease. Everybody in their car cause it was hot but at its peak we had 17 local during the raids. Got all the fusion I needed for both, 11 shinys including one Necrozma and I had fun. Im burnt out on Pogo tho. The fact that the 2X Catch Stardust, XP, and Candy was not present at all during Day 2 of this Go Fest as well as no announcement of the special moves are very silly mistakes, and some easy things that Niantic easily could have avoided. If I were to rank the Global Go Fests, 2021 and 2020 are 1st and 2nd by a wide margin. The 2022 one was undoubtedly the worst. I remember the Shiny Rates being atrocious that year. I would rank 2024 right in the middle, barely above 2023. What made me make this decision was the fact that we just had Primal Kyogre and Groudon 6 months earlier in Hoenn Tour. Plus, they as well as Mega Rayquaza were very hard to catch, since they were Primal/6 Star Mega Raids, you would get like 6-10 Premier Balls to catch them, and no Master Ball to guarantee a Hundo back then. This year, since we had Beast Balls, we wouldn't waste too much time trying to catch the Ultra Beast after defeating it, plus it allowed us to use Pinap/Silver Pinaps on them, allowing for an easier more profitable catch.

    Hmm. I'm probably an outlier, but I had a blast. Probably the most fun I've had since the melodia one in 2020-2021? I feel like the shinies were boosted (ticket holder) and more folks were out so it was actually fun to raid. I ended up with nearly 60 shinies (full grind on sat, then just a half day on Sunday). I got all the shinies I was aiming for so I had no complaints. The only con for me was the heat, it made walking around kinda awful.
    That said, it still felt half done. The thing I loved about the melodia go fest is how they created a theme around music and had two really fun angles with rock and pop star paths. They also picked fun costumed pokemon that supported the theme.
    If they went harder into the theme of sun and moon and had more storied paths I think it would have been more fun. Like if you went for moon, you got a moon pose and a special dark Pikachu. Also for moon ticket holders they could have recycled the aurora sky they had a few years ago and had a lullaby. Maybe also keep the entire weekend as night mode so moon people could Evo night specific mons easier. And the opposite for sun. That said, this go fest was better than the last 2.

You also got to meet people from all over the country who are super passionate about the game. They made the trip to the host city to play the game. Those interactions were really nice. You think you really like the game and everything and then you meet someone from Texas or the West Coast who made the trip all the way to NY to play the game. Just picture that for a moment. There's also a special feeling being in the host city for Go Fest. Global Go Fest is just another day with slightly better spawns than normal. It doesn't feel special. I’d love for you to design your own go fest 2 day event, pick one major release for the “poster Mon” of the event like mega meets x or Y. Add some spawns and maybe some legacy moves, pick a costume Pokémon or returning costumes to get, I’d love to hear what you come up with.
    For me I’d go
    Special research that gives one more Mythical encounter with ALL previous encounters, yeah at the end of each page you get to encounter Mew, Zarude, Melmetal(why not?), forget the name but the fighting type horse that was pay to catch, celebe, jirachii, all of them. Plus a paid version that gives you one encounter with everything that has an adventure effect. And they of course 100% will have the move. The origin dragons with their moves, necrozma fusions, I’m assuming we will get more tbh.
    Raids will be focused on the trios, hour 1 will be birds, then the beasts, then the Reggie’s, then the lake trios, then the swords of justice, ALL with legacy moves.
    Costumes will be based on evolution pokemon and not only in 3 star raids they have a chance to spawn on your incense, they are
    Dragonnite with sunglasses, Blastoise with sunglasses, give venosour a top hat, give charizard a funky neck tie, gengar with a gofest t shirt on, bring back all previous eeveevolutions that have costumes, add some to the ones that don’t.
    And as a goble challenge it could be catch an amount of incense Pokemon and it could unlock a special research with one encounter each, the freakin Clones, clone pikachu, clone venosour, clone charizard, clone Blastoise.
    After catching the clones day 2 could have mewtwo saying “fine I’ll do it myself” and have mewtwo spawning with the armour on in 5 star raids.
    As far as wild spawns each hour would have 1 of the following in every habitat. 1 pseudo legendary Pokémon (like larvitar, beldum, bagon) they will have 1 PVP focused Pokémon (like mankey for anihailape, magikarp for gyrados, sandsrew for alohan sand slash. Also have 1 “just cool shiny” (like, gligar, psyduck) also have one Pokémon that when evolved that can mega evolve (like onix, or a starter, or gible, or Abbra) and 1 Pokémon that is 400 candies to evolve.
    What do y’all think?

    another giant con from this go fest was Niantic just deciding to make some pokemon really rare and you would never see them in the wild: Heatmor, Jangmo-o, Carbink. They promoted them as spawns only for players to almost never see them.
    The last 2 years Axew and Goomy were the new shinies yet they were not hard to find when their habitat was rotating, you just needed to keep playing and hope to find the shiny in the wild while this year you would see 1-2 Jangmo-o per hour if you were lucky and if you really wanted that shiny you would need to do raids if you didn’t get really lucky.

    A weather adventure effect like snow where it never snows would be amazing, especially during a steel event.

    Look honestly despite the fact that yes the go fest formula isnt as exciting with the repetition of the hourly spawns etc. I think this go fest was quite a step-up in some aspects, something Ive never been a fan of for go fest (or the Region Tours) is how extremely overwhelming the events is despite the fact its spread out over two days. There's always so many raids spawns, research and other things that make balancing certain aspects of pogo impossible to do. So I think the ultra beast raid week before the go fest is quite good, so players can do it over the week and then when the global go fest happens they can at least have a more relaxed experience with the raids, even when something new like necrozma is released over the weekend. (And I do agree some of the recycling of raids was a bit boring.) Another thing I enjoy is how this global go fest had bonuses that could rival the in-person go fest events, I think the bonus of the 7km eggs to trainers who had already bought the ticket a week before were also quite good as it allowed trainers to hatch some shinnies before go fest, however, the raid bonuses from the ultra beast raid week ticket should of been included with the 7km egg bonuses since we essentially had to buy two tickets. (And thats disregarding that hatching eggs are very expensive.) So people who are unable to travel get an experience that is similar to the in-person go fests, since I personally think they are quite good or even over-powered in comparison to the global events. Which ultimately gave a more relaxing but still fun event. In saying that, I feel and agree that there should of been a new shiny (or shinnies) alongside jangmo-o, and the other shinnies released for the in-person events weren't the best IMO. As well as the adventure effects not being great, which I do feel like it'd be hard to top off in comparison to Origin palkia/dialga, which is probably why they only realeased the new adventure effects into global go fest. So they didnt release something super disappointing before the whole world got to use it lol.
