Your summer weather sounds very similar to ours in Minnesota.
Though I get no relief because I do not have AC in my 70-year-old house. But I have the original gravity furnace (which I plan on finally replacing next year, roof is this year's big expense).
I look forward to many of those annuals becoming available. I garden with color themes and white is paired with either purple or pink or blue. I want that white thurnbergia to climb in a spring-blooming tree.

I'm thinking the black coleus behind the sunflowers with the little yellow plant in front. Still hard to find the PW plants in Georgia. I found a Vermillionaire & have been keeping her inside on chilly nights. Potted it up with an orange calibrachoa & the early hummers are enjoying it when it's outside. Finally getting rain, it's been dry for weeks.
