Hello friends! In today's video I'm going to be sharing my AncestryDNA results with you. Even though I took this test around a year ago, it was still super fun to analyze my test results and how they came to be :)
I definitely suggest that you all try it as well!

The African is from the slaves brought over to Latin America, mainly in the Caribbean colonies or even in Central America/Colombia, and Mexico didn't get as much as they did in proportion to their population so it's not as apparent as in other countries but the Spanish brought slaves to Mexico as well and worked alongside the indigenous people

I am Ecuadorian, and my results looks like yours. In fact most Latin Americans have the same results as you with varying degrees. All of my Great grand parents are from Ecuador. My aunts DNA results showed, Havana, Guadalajara, Bogota, Medellin plus Native from Ecuador. Before Columbus, no Aztec or Taino could ever come to the Andes in Ecuador. So, when Spain colonized Ecuador, they brought Spaniards from Cuba, New Spain, and from now Colombia to Ecuador who in fact were mixed with native as all Spaniards. So, a Spaniard from Nueva Granada went to Nueva España. That is how you get Colombian/Venezuelan native. So you and I share Iberian, Mexican, Colombian DNA. From Argentina to Mexico to Cuba we are truly genetically related and brothers more so than Estadounidenses.

@@lilianathehistorian2919 The concept of race is an Calvinista Anglo-Saxon concept. Its purpose is to divide and conquer. Unlike the English, the Spaniard were never interested in genocide. Their main purpose was to bring Christianity to the natives, and establish a feudal economic system. The peasants of Spain and the Spanish Indies had the same conditions. The Spanish monarchy protected natives in the overseas provinces from the Spanish colonists including their property rights. Once the coalition of English/French/and Spanish Creoles expelled the Spanish Loyalists, natives lost protection from the King, and were then subject to genocide and theft of their lands by Criollos. In my trip to Spain, I was so surprised how little racist the Spaniard were toward Hispanics. What a contrast to the "white" Mexicans. Afro Hispanics told me they were respected by Spaniards. Enjoy this beautiful Afro Spaniard, Buika.

Your family is very close to where mine is from. I suspect when I get my results I will get very similar results as you considering my Suriname can be traced back to basque. From what I understand most of these dna tests go back anywhere from 5-8 generations. Therefore, I suspect the African ancestry might be more recent and as others have mentioned.. slaves were heavy in Caribbean, Central America, and northern South America. I’d bet that trace is likely associated within that context.

Hello Dora, I know it’s Christmas Eve and it might sound a bit weird tbh but I completed a DNA test as well and the results are clear but not clear enough due to the fact that it says I’m 28% Spain 24% southern Italy which means Sicilian and 18% indigenous americas which is Mexican but there is a lot more ethnicities in my background than I thought because it says that I’m 9% England and northwestern Europe and then I’m 4% northern Italy as well as another bunch of races that are 1 to 3% but what exactly does Spain mean? Because my grandma is Spanish but she is a Sicilian as well. And have a merry Christmas.

Hi, my name is Liliana! Well, I'm no expert lol, but the results from Ancestry DNA do go further back than just your parents or grandparents. So it is definitely possible that you could've had Spanish DNA from other relatives further back as well. It doesn't necessarily have to come from just one person, so it all adds up. Hope that answers your question!

You would identify as Mexican, who are a (mix of spanish and native), also known as Mestizos.
Although you have the majority of Spanish DNA, You wouldn’t identify as “Spanish” because you have 18% indigenous...the blending of indigenous with Spanish is what makes Mexicans mestizos or “mixed”.
Full Spanish would mean “A mix of the different civilizations that have settled in the Iberian Peninsula throughout the centuries: the Visigoths from northern Europe, the Phoenicians, Greeks and Romans from the Mediterranean region and the Moors from Northern Africa”. (No native ancestry)
So your ethnicity is Mexican, rather than Spaniard.. since you are mixed. Also, many Spaniards take a lot of pride in there full Spanish blood.
And as for Race, it has to do with more of physical characteristics. The only categories of race are
      1) American Indian or Alaska Native.
      2) Asian
      3) Black or African American.
      4) Native Hawaiian
      5) Other Pacific Islander.
      6) White
So in your case, to figure our your race you would just see your physical characteristics and see if you look more Native American or white. Mostly likely from your profile pic your race would be white. And Mexican is not a race due to how heavily the physical characteristics are in Mexicans, race is just a label for plain color/appearance really.

@@valeriabustos4100 thanks for clarifying as well, but wouldn’t it be known as being a Heinz 57? Idk because someone told me if you have more than 6 races in your dna then it would be considered that term!

That guy has irish, italian, french, native american, and african in him, so he's a Heinz 57
So yeah you could say that as well, or just say your mixed, or Mexican. You could also total up the European countries % to native % and tell them the ratio of European:native... and sAy your Mexican but that’s your ratios for specifics... all up to u

It's crucial to avoid making any assumptions about your genetic makeup. The DNA database is relatively new and may not be directly related to human migration patterns out of Africa that happened thousands of years ago, or European colonization. If you have Latino origins, it's probable that your African ancestry comes from an African slave who lived in the Americas several generations ago, and could trace their ancestry back to those African regions that appear in your results. It's important to have an awareness of the historical context that has influenced our genetic diversity.
