  • In this project video, I show you how to make one of our new Crossbody Fannypack style purses.
    I made this purse from French Calf on the outside and Goat skin on the inside with a tooled feather front panel. This is a really fun bag to make and they seem to be a popular style these days.
    My hardware came from Ohio Travel Bag Company: ohiotravelbag.com/
    The leather came from C Loy's Leather: cloysleathers.com/
    If you would like to purchase the pattern pack for this project, use the links below. We offer them in either DIGITAL DOWNLOAD or PRINTED versions. This is a large format print so if you choose the DIGITAL version, you will have to take to a printing company to have them printed for you you.

    Beautiful bag. For me, anything with a gusset always presents its own unique challenge of getting it right or throwing it at the wall with a few choice words.

    P.S. I loved the bluesy harmonica & guitar background music. First class!

    I thought Fanny packs died off in the mid 90’s but my 21 year old niece told me otherwise. Great video Don! I have been watching your Videos for years and bought your patterns! I have learned a lot from you!

    What type "pen" is that you are marking on the white leather? Assume it comes off easily...
    Thx 👍

    Can it be printed on a home printer just tiled and taped together?

    You do beautiful work. I try at leather crafting smaller objects. I’m older and am on SSDI so I take leather crafts an Wooden items such ah lathe turn sewing seam rippers to Nick Nacks for others to display (and catch dust). I can set and watch your videos for hours. What type of cheap sewing machine would your recommend? L make 8 - 10 oz belts and wouldn’t be able to justify the cost of one that can sew that thicknesses. Heaviest the leather I use is no thicker than 6 oz. So something that’s not out of my reach as far as cost goes. Mayb you know a used machine selling site, that would be fine.
    Bless you and your family, 🙏

    Who makes the gauge guide on your Cobra? Love your videos and great pattern as always!

      That one comes with the machine but they have aftermarket ones that fit specifically the 441 class machines. They aren't universal for all machines for that specific guide but they do make different universal ones like the flip down guide which in a way is better than that one. IMO

    • @Handles-R-Lame
      @Handles-R-Lame Před rokem

      Almost any leather store sales goat leather. Tandys, Springfield Leather, Maverick Leather, Rocky Mountain etc. I could go on and on lol
      I think Don goes to Celoy(sp?) because he is local to him, i believe he does mail orders but i think only over the phone. I dont believe he has a website set up for buying online.
      *edit: i could be wrong however

    What are the thickness of the leather?

  • @Luckystudio13

    This is super impressive. We always heard that a Class 4 is only for knife sheath, saddles, gun holster... etc. How did you get your class 4 sew so smoothly without any problems on such thin material ?? Would you recommend the class 4 for everyday sewing thinner chrome leather ?

    • @burkhardt7372
      @burkhardt7372 Před rokem +1

      It will sew anything but Cobra and the 441 class machines recommends the lightest thread is 138. And even with 138 it's hard to hide the knots in thin material. I'm guessing Don still has 207 thread in it still and since the stitches are all hidden it doesn't matter on stitch appearance.

    • @Luckystudio13
      @Luckystudio13 Před rokem

      @@burkhardt7372 so really the 4 is the most versatile machine more so than the 26 then. Unless you sew super thin material.

    • @burkhardt7372
      @burkhardt7372 Před rokem +1

      @@Luckystudio13 Depends what you do the most of. Wallets and thinner things up 1/2in. go with 26. I have a 441 clone and have to sew wallet interiors on a different machine. If you plan on doing the majority of your work on lighter material things then don't go with the 441. Don himself has said he would like a class 26 because it's so versatile.

    • @Luckystudio13
      @Luckystudio13 Před rokem

      @@burkhardt7372 if you search on CZcams "class 26 torture test" that new class 26 owner cannot sew beyond 3/8" on his machine. That is kinda shocking to see his real world experience with his 26.
