    I was expecting to see the magnet broom run over the chips. Let’s weld some dang pipe

    Wow, great machine which provides the right angle to start welding immediately. Never seen this before and I am still learning at 56 years-old mechanic on several disciplines. Thanks a lot for teaching us so much. A cutter and lathe simultaneously without any use of oils. Keeps all clean. Friendly regards from Holland, Marcel Knippers.

    From what I know about Rigid plumbing products ( not much tbh) is that they are well built and notoriously heavy, and they get the job done, but man are they Expensive with a capital E. Take good care of that unit JD and I am sure that it will save you effort and time and make you money. Don't lend it to anyone without you as the operator.

    HI JD....one of the few pieces of equipment I probably can't come up with a reason to buy...As to our previous conversation, see my reply to your reply...and as to the color of chips, it's complicated. if the cutter inserts are carbide, (and I suspect they are) then all is fine. Can't imagine that Rigid would build a pipe cutter/beveller that had to be babied. I would call Rigid and ask them.

      pretty sweet! as a social experiment you should bevel a watermelon. Call it "BEVELING A WATERMELON 100 FT OFF THE GROUND!" with a thumbnail of you fake-eating a mouse. $10 says that'd put you on Trending in under a week. Put the mouse in a bikini to trend @ #1.

    • @jdbrewer6638

    How does this compare to plasma cutting bevels on the field? Have a lot of 12" to 18" pipe to field prep and weld. Also wondering how long the inserts last.

    • @jdbrewer6638
      @jdbrewer6638  Před 5 lety +1

      A plasma need more power than this, it also needs air.... both tough to get in the field. The inserts I think will last more than long enough to be considered useful

      JD it would pay to check just which inserts it takes, get a hold of some as spares and tape them to the box that the machine travels in. Keep a record of the part number and supplier in your phone.

    Blue chips are too hot my friend. Try running two cuts at half the full depth. You could also slow down you feed speed but with these blue chips you will be going through some carbide my friend. It will also take out the chatter marks on the face.
    I want to add you doing amazing work and you do not mess around and I respect that. I once heard a guy on a job say "work smart not hard" he was corrected by a man that said "what ever happened to both" this second statement is you my friend!!
