The latest version of the X95 uses the .300 blackout recoil mechanism. Unfortunately, moving the bolt rotation control bar out of the way of the bolt guide pin was not documented in the manual. I spoke with an IWI technician: Place the bolt face on the edge of a table so that the buffer tube hangs over the edge of the table and then push down on the plastic buffer until you hear and feel a pop - the bolt rotation control bar snapping into the correct position enabling the bolt guide pin to be removed.

    2 things for new owners:
    - My trigger pack does NOT fall out. It is super difficult to remove and my bolt catch always gets in the way and has to be reinstalled. I think this is just a polymer-on-polymer issue. Adding some lube the housing has helped but it's still a huge PITA. Not sure why this is different from the video.
    - If you recently bought this rifle new, the demonstrated method for pulling back the buffer to expand the control bar is not accurate. Ask IWI for their powerpoint manual. You need a totally new procedure for this that involves resting the bolt face on the edge of your bench and pushing the buffer directly down.

For newer X95s - Follow the 300BLK bolt disassembly instructions (pp74 in manual) - the new bolt means the control bar must come up ~1.5in as opposed to 5/16in. -- typically you can tell by seeing if your bolt has the dual ejectors. If you can't get the bolt pin free, keep pulling the bar; it takes a bit of force the first few times.

I've broken THREE barrel wrenches, now, for a combined total of 2 barrel removals. One broke on INSTALL, so spare me the "diD y0u DuHpreSs tHe L0cK!?" nonsense - of course I depressed the lock, after removing the forend, charging handle, AND even the top rail for good measure.
I've followed the instructions to the letter, I even lubricated the locking bolt proactively. I've successfully done this in the past for a caliber change and for a trigger upgrade. Now, I can't even swap my charging handle to the other side after a LH conversion.
Today, after breaking the third one, I have a fourth on order and I'll hand it over to whatever unfortunate soul buys this gun from me.
Unbelievable - it's such a simple mechanism, but many are clearly defective, and something you can't maintain cannot be relied upon to protect your life.
Good gun to shoot - unfortunately, I wasted an inordinate sum of time and money converting it to left hand, upgrading it, and adjusting it.
I wish I had the money back. Unreal, at this price point.

I was unable to remove the bolt guide pin from the bolt carrier. In this video, it says to pull the timing bar about 1/3 of an inch through the buffer. The instruction manual that comes with the rifle says to pull it 1.43 inches past the end of the buffer. I tried both and was still unable to punch out the bolt guide pin, using the same amount of force I used to punch out the other pins. None of the videos I've watched, or the instruction manual, indicate that I should have had the difficulty I did. I need to figure it out so I can properly clean my bolt when it needs cleaning.

@@wilso2jasonp , UPDATE: I finally got mine out, after watching a guy's video on CZcams. He measured the distance from the guide pin hole to the end of the bolt carrier. That was the distance the op rod needed to be pulled out the back of the buffer. Simply stated, I wasn't pulling the op rod far enough out of the rear of the buffer. I have the 5.56/.223 X95. One thing I have learned is that there are a few different recoil assemblies for the different incarnations of the Tavor weapons systems; and they have different ways of being disassembled. If you have the same one I do, pull the op rod until you hear and feel a noticeable pop. Once pulled out to this point, the guide pin can pushed out quite easily. Here's the video I watched. The pertinent info begins at the 00:27 mark. I hope this helps. czcams.com/video/_yw1ld6eLO8/video.html

my recoil spring seems to be sagging down at the part right before it goes into the hole. When I push the back of the buffer thing like you demonstrated at the end. The sagging spring briefly catches on the edge of the hole before going in. is it supposed to be like that?

Why would anyone disassemble it all the way? Pull the big out, spray it with cleaner wipe and gtg. Same with the barrel. It's a dang tavor it's made to work forever

So-so video. It could be a great, very informative video. My question is: WHY THE DISTRACTING MUSIC? Music does not add any value to what your presenting/demonstrating, it is NOISE! Show more close ups! I am a retired US Navy and US Army Instructor.

This video is well scripted and terribly shot. The camera work is awful! Nowhere near enough close-ups on the components or what he’s doing with them. If you want to admire this guy’s outfit and goatee, this is a great video. If, however, you want to know how to field strip an X-95, look elsewhere.
